Hmmmmm - Given how keen both Lucas and his agent have been to talk to the press I'm sure something would've come out if we hadnt offered him a new deal? They dont strike me as people to stay quiet on something like that...

I've a feeling that Hughes see's that our circumstances/need for Dunn has changed since the end of the last window. Who would have thought in August that Tugay would have played as many games as he has done so far and been so influential? Add to that Bentley's performances in centre mid when he's been called upon & the iminent return of Reid he doesnt seem as much as a priority as some might think. Yes another body in CM to pick from would be good but there's no point in wasting £1m-£2m on somebody who might actually only be able to play in 5-10 games between now and the end of the season. I have always placed faith in the management team - at the end of the day they see the players in training, know their strengths & weaknesses & know who/what is needed to take the team forward.

Agree 100% - I dont think I have been willing a player on like this in a long time. I was delighted he scored on Saturday - Because he is a fan and a Blackburn boy, us supporters can empathise with him a whole lot more than a Johny Foreigner. This will have a positive effect on the atmosphere and then hopefully a knock-on effect the team too. You're wrong - See above.

Just seen that if Lucas receives a booking today it will be his 5th and therefore a ban for Liverpool?! Can this be confirmed? If true then I'm sure he will be aware of it and I wouldnt bet against a bit of shirt pulling or something late on this afternoon... :ph34r:

I think he's done alright recently - certainly no worse than alot of other players in the side. He's a very useful player to have in the squad in my opinion...

I have to agree it's quite sad reading personal attacks because somebody has a difference of opinion... I agree partly with rover the moon - I've been impressed when Gallagher & Jeffers have come on as sub - most times they have come on and provided fresh legs and a sense of urgency. I though Nonda was shocking last night - didnt look interested or fit and was a passenger for much of the game. I hope we go with Jeffers & McCarthy up front on Sunday...

Hasnt Michael Gray been playing centre mid for the reserves?! :ph34r: He's done quite well too by all accounts - I'd rather have him in there than someone inexperienced.

People seem to be quick to judge Dunny's fitness - I've had a look on Birmingham's website and so far this season he's played in 5 of their 6 games as follows... 90 min Came on after 68min Came on after 58 min 90 min Carling Cup - rested 90 min Hopefully things are looking up for him - yes he's had well documented problems in the past but if he can carry on like this then maybe he can play his way into Hughes' thoughts...

My bet is that Hughes brought in Agathe on trial with a view to replacing Bert. He got a chance to assess him over 2/3 weeks and has decided that Emerton is the better of the 2 players - hence him stepping up contract negotiations once Agathe had left.

Just seen on Sky Sports News that Steven Reid will be captain for Ireland tomorrow night against Holland. Congratulations Reidy - I think this season will propell him on to the big stage and he will go from strength to strength.

I was under the impression that if things couldnt be split by goals it would go down to the head to head games? Seeing as they beat us 3-0 and we won 1-0 at their place that would suggest they would finish above Rovers. :s

I've not seen the incident but it sounded bad on the radio. Whatever the reason he should not have done it - no excuses and that's the bottom line. I dont see how Rovers will benefit by banishing one of the better players at the club to the reserves tho?

I dont think it's that straight forward! Lots of candidates... Brad -back to his best this season. Nelsen - Taken captain's armband with Todd out of the side and led by example. MGP - Just because of the goals. Bellamy - The most exciting player we've had since Duff & stands out a mile every game. Reid - Improved a lot. Tugay - Has been instrumental when he's played and we've been restricted when he's not. I'd say they are the main ones but a lot of players have had good seasons - Lucas Neill & Savage too... Personally I'd go for Bellamy - Doesnt matter what people say bout how well we did without him for a third of the season. We would be nowhere near where we are now with Dickov & Kuqi upfront. The guy is pure class - we've got to build the team around him if we are to progress...

FFS people moaning bout not being able to have a fag for a couple of hours & maybe having a smoking section! It is TWO HOURS! Why should other people have to breath in your cigarette fumes??

Just got back - That was by far the worst performance I've seen for a while and yet Rovers still won. Dont know whether to be tho cos the last few games we've not been as strong as we've come to expect this season but we keep on picking up 3 points! 2 players stood out for Rovers - Reid & Friedel... Without them we should have been well beaten and watching the game it was hard to tell who had 10 points and who had 50. I hope Hughes has seen enough of Emerton now to realise he just isn't good enough. He offered nothing to the side today, his crosses were poor and on a couple of instances where to looked to have a fast counter attack going the ball went to him and his first touch completely ruined the move. It's so frustrating because we all saw him do the business not too long ago but I think a move away would be the best thing for both Rovers and Bert. I thought that Bellamy had taken picked up an injury. He had a burst towards the corner and a sunderland player put in quite a heavy challenge - he didnt look the same after that. Couldnt tell if it was a knock from the tackle or if he tweaked a muscle when he made the run. I guess we'll find out on Monday. When it was Dickov & Kuqi up front it showed how much he does make a difference - We'll need at least 2 strikers to come in during the Summer. Both are at that level inbetween Prem & Championship and even though you cant fault their workrate they just dont have the quality that's needed for us to push on. I hope and expect next Monday's performance to improve dramatically - We missed Sav today in midfield as none of our players seemed to be encouraging each other. Same with our fans-couldnt believe we werent trying to get behind the players and instead seemed more interested in baiting the Sunderland fans and singing 'sack the board'. :s

Namedropper! If you think he's reached his peak then fair enough but at his 'peak' he is a lot better than other options we have available. I think to keep him because he will continue to improve - especially as he gains more experience from playing reguarly.

I'm v annoyed at the change again but can understand Rovers wanting to be helpful... By keeping Liverpool happy it will count in the future re player loans, purchases, etc. (Pongolle?)
