  1. I love a Rovers "bid" for a player these days. Guarantee it will be a ridiculous low ball offer followed by the old shrug of the shoulders and "well, we tried" statement.
  2. I think I have said this before, but it's not impossible that our defence for the first game of next season could be - Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew, Williams. The exact same back 4 that started his first game in charge over three years ago. The defence will never be sorted under Mowbray, I accepted it a while ago.
  3. Yeah we had him by then, he signed on 31st July but in classic Mowbray fashion "wasn't ready to play" the opening game. Mulgrew started the game as captain, had an absolute stinker and 5 days after that he was bombed out to Wigan on deadline day, to make room for us to sign Cunningham. Tosin made his debut in the second game of the season at Fulham after Mulgrew departed. Mulgrew was definitely first choice when the season started, making even more of a mockery of Mowbrays "defenders are coming" quotes.
  4. I'm not sure about that, Mulgrew started the first game of the season as captain, so I firmly believe that Mowbray intended to use him as first choice with Lenihan until they realised somebody needed to make way for the Cunningham signing.
  5. I'd be surprised if it was any other way at the moment to be honest.
  6. This time 12 months ago I was quite excited by him, he started our last 6 games of the previous season, and got a couple of goals and assists. The shirt was his for the start of 19/20, so of course Mowbray starts the season with him back on the bench, think he only had two starts by the end of October. As said above the excitement around him as definitely fizzled out now, and he'll never get any consistency going under Mowbray unfortunately.
  7. Id take an effective, organised Dyche style of grinding out 1-0 win over whatever way Mowbray is trying to play any day.
  8. Crazy when there is an extra £2million on offer for every place you finish higher in the Premier League.
  9. There isn't prize money in the championship for league placing, so finishing 7th or 20th doesn't make any difference apart from how pretty it looks on a league table.
  10. If we had adopted this approach throughout our history then we wouldn't have seen any of the world class players that have graced Ewood over the years, it's more proof that venkys have beaten down our fanbase so much. Don't these seasons count anymore then?!
  11. I think that's the lazy assumption because we spent 26 years out of the top flight between 66 & 92.
  12. Cunningham looked good in his 10 games or so don't get me wrong. After an injury like that though, not sure I would be rushing out to get him signed up again at the moment.
  13. This is beyond naïve. By the time that comes, our better players (Travis, Armstrong, Dack etc) will all be long gone and we'll be starting another "slow build".
  14. If venkys had only turned up last summer, and that last summer was an unusual odd one out in our recruitment policy (making a mess of the GK situation plus no permanent defenders) I think everyone would agree with those comments. We're nearly 10 years into there ownership now though, we know which way this is going.
  15. We did replace those two players. It's just the replacements were Danny Guthrie & Christian Walton. ?
  16. We'll probably finish 10th, with 65 points to keep Mowbray plodding on. Play offs for 2025 is looking good.
  17. Wharton actually played against Burton in the championship under Coyle. Dont think he's made a league appearance since though.
  18. I think we have one already on the books who could sit deep and try and dictate the play, Lewis Holtby. Problem is Mowbray plays him everywhere but that role.
  19. Because someone on here posted them I guess. Anyway, I think the notion that everything will be ok if we sign a couple of decent defenders is naive. I sometimes think the way Mowbray sets up his teams we could have the best defenders in the world playing and it wouldn't make much difference, we're so disjointed most of the time.
  20. European super league has been talked about for over 20 years now. It'll never, ever happen.
  21. We release the training range before the kits every year.
