2025 Summer Transfer Thread. ๐
gumboots replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's no better here in France. Went to Lorient Lille this afternoon and the ref was really big club biased. Handed out yellow cards like sweets to Lorient players whilst giving Lille players a talking to. Match ended 1-7 and Lille deserved their win, but even handed the ref definitely wasn't. Oh and the player linked with Rovers last week missed a penalty. -

Rarely nowadays. I keep trying to walk away but your club is still yours even if you've almost fallen out of love with it. -

Very disrespectful to teapots. They probably know more about running a football club than this lot -

I'm not really angry with him, but with the whole sorry mess at Ewood that has gone on for so long, since well before I retired and appears likely to still be going on when I'm long gone. So many fans lost, so many who will likely never return. -

So where was that support when we protested all those years ago? I remember marching, and I remember others doing a lot, lot more. Most people weren't interested then. They're no more interested now. We are and have been for many years, a basket case of a club. The number of well known media people who basically told us to shut up because Venkys pay our bills was amazing. And still it goes on. A manager nobody hoped for, a captain who wants away, an inability to sign a decent striker so that we actually look like scoring, players leaving for decent sums but no adequate replacements, a fanbase so disenchanted they don't trust anyone, and absentee owners who haven't been seen in over a decade. Don't try to cheer us up. We know what's wrong and also know there doesn't seem to be any way of getting out of the parlour and completely undeserved mess we find ourselves in. -
Valรฉrien Ismaรซl: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach

Well, you can always hope provided you don't expect your hopes to come to fruition. -
You do know he was a pretty good goalkeeper, don't you?
-
Frighteningly that sounds very likely as an appointment process.
-
I'm not saying I don't want him. Just that I can understand why people might think it's an underwhelming appointment. Personally I'm not underwhelmed - just think he'd be mad to take it at this time.
-
Depends what people want. Young upcoming but raw manager who has links to the club and might excite fans and do well, or wise, experienced old head who knows his way round the Championship, or someone who has done quite a lot elsewhere but isn't Championship experienced.
-
Good to be back. I've never really been away. Just never post if I haven't seen a match, and since I rarely go to Ewood and rarely watch Rovers on tv as we always lose when I do, I've not had a lot to say
-
No problem. You can't assume anything about anyone nowadays though! I'm constantly amazed at what I find out about lots of people I thought I knew
-
No,not at all. Mind you I am 70 so what do I know about what people find attractive nowadays? Oh, and as an elderly lady, I'm nobody's pal. ๐
-
I finally got round to googling him and I stand b6 my original statement. He's no looker.
-
Is it the guy in the ill fitting grey jumper who looks a bit like Rick Edwards? Next to Carsley? Because in that case, you must have low standards of attractiveness.
-
And which one's that? See, I can't spot anyone vaguely attractive there so I'm wondering what I'm missing?
-
Which one of those guys is supposed to be good looking then?

v Plymouth Argyle (h) - 15/2/2025

Well, we enjoyed that. Yes, it was pedestrian in the first half. Yes, the sideways play was infuriating. However, even in the first half, there were some excellent passes and good movement at times. Workrate was excellent. Thought Hyam was quietly efficient and did a lot of the unflashy stuff that needed doing. 2 cracking goals scored. No goals conceded, despite Pears best efforts to let one in. Should we have won more convincingly. Yes, probably. Would we have lost that a few weeks ago? Yes, probably. Need a Sale Sharks win tomorrow as Clitheroe, Lorient and Rovers all won. Then it'll be a perfect weekend. -

Just so you know you can blame me if we lose, my husband decided this morning that we should attend today's match. So the players, the caretaker manager, Venkys, Waggott, the tealady (if we still emply one) are not to blame. It's all down to that couple from Clitheroe Oh, and equally I'll expect a round of applause if we win. -
You missed the, not very good at what he does, bit

Richard Dinnis taught on supply at CRGS and advised my daughter to become a Sports Journalist. A career she pursued for several years with the BBC and still freelances for them. So always a soft spot for him. Found out later that I worked with his sister too
