I spoke to Birmingham supporting colleague on Friday who said they like to play on the break, good from set pieces, but don't have the quality to hold the ball for long periods of time. Some of the larger away followings got Darwen End and Darwen End Enclosure at times. I remember late 80’s Rovers fans were allocated Darwen End and away teams the enclosure only, Man City was one of those teams with trouble in main Darwen End with away fans that had sneaked in.

Myself and the Mrs met him in a Chinese restaurant in Sheffield, he was dining with Emlyn Hughes and Emlyn's mum. When they got up to leave we called Mike over and expressed our gratitude for his service, Emlyn came over, nose out of joint because we didn't call him over, stood for a few seconds turned around and shouted to his mum: "Just some Blackburn fans mum, ignore them" I never did get what he meant by that, but Mike was brilliant and wanted to chat more.
