v Stoke City (a) - 10/3/23
Gav replied to Sweaty Gussets's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We've been on a fantastic run, far better than anyone could have imagined after the horror show at Rotherham, but it had to come to an end at some point. I'd much rather lose points to mid table Stoke than any of the promotion/play off rivals. Its easy for me to sit here and say this as I didn't get to Stoke last night, I'm sure the superb travelling hordes will have a different take on things and I respect that fully. The key for me right now is how we bounce back from this, we looked tired and leggy last night, lets hope the extra time off pays dividends. Onwards and upwards -

Bad days at the office but showed some real fight towards the end. 5 wins on the bounce, unbeaten since January, 4th in the league and FA cup Quarter final to look forward to. Shout out to the superb support, hero's every one of you. -

They’ve got more zip than us, we look tired, but we are also being out thought tactically by Neill here. -

We look off the pace tonight, a yard slower than Stoke, I think the winning run and effort is catching up with us. I’d take a draw now. -
Not according to Shearer and he should have played in Euro96.
-
True. Tell you what though, he came a long way from Riverside whipping boy to Premiership Champion.
-
We lost of course, but some great footage in the early part of the clip, this was the start of the revolution which ended up at Anfield. We should have one 1 cup that season, but went out to both Sheffield clubs sadly.

By a country mile the worst day I've ever had watching Rovers Asia, absolutely devastated and its a bloody long way home from Croydon after that. -
Great footage Tyrone and a great shirt.
-
I found this Plymouth season review from 74-75 - Sadly no footage of the game at Ewood, but Rovers feature at Home Park 28mins 30 seconds

Just spoke to a fellow Rover in Stoke, its coming down heavy and has been for a few hours now. He thinks the game could be in doubt given the forecast and current conditions. The last thing we need right now is a postponement, it puts me in mind of the shambles last season that was Hull City away, the wheels fell off after that. -
Great shirt, great socks, not so great tackle. Luton at home 1980 - Rovers won 3-0 (Garner 2 and Stonehouse) Att: 9076

If the product on the pitch is worth supporting the Blackburn public will turn out. It’s been that way for over 100yrs and it will be that way for the next 100yrs.

Man Utd might disagree, but yes agreed TS. -
I’m convinced he’d make a good centre back with his defensive headers when we defend from corners.
-
I'm not having that, Brereton has looked disinterested for months, I'd have sold him in the summer and given him away to the highest bidder in Jan. Gallagher never gives less than 110%, his end product isn't anywhere near as good at Diaz, but his work ethic is second to non.
-
Sam Gallagher was tremendous again today, his work ethic is head and shoulders above every other player in blue n white. He doesn’t score enough goals, but his defensive abilities are integral to this side and he was colossal today tracking back and defending.
-
Shout out for the goal today. Classic counter attacking goal from Rovers, pace, passing and a great finish. Superb goal that deserved to win the game.

Fishing trip? They should have had 2 players sent off for very bad tackles nowhere near the ball. They’ve been a dirty side for a few years now and that manifested itself again today when they knew the game was up.
