  1. Spot on. Sheff Utd have brought in a central defender for £3m and 4 loan signings already, now thats a team going places and it showed on Saturday. If we're not careful we'll be fighting relegation this season, the current squad are simply not good enough.
  2. You only have to look back 1 season, to this time last year, where we found ourselves in exactly the same boat, its no different this year other than the manager has changed and we have another level of bureaucracy to navigate in GB. We are looking for scraps from the Premiership dining table right now and those only appear right at the last minute. The manager has changed but our methods and owners have not......
  3. If Joshua decides to keep on fighting he needs to busier than he has been throughout his career so far. Training for 8 months of the year and fighting just once isn't enough for Joshua, he's got no ring craft that you gain through the amateurs, he needs more fights. He reminded me at times on Saturday of a poor mans Frank Bruno, a very limited fighter out of his depth. He's made more money than he'll ever be able to spend, maybe he should just pack it in, but boxers rarely do, I think we'll see him back and I think the public will continue to pay to see him, but avoid Wilder at all costs, he'll end his career in my opinion.
  4. I spoke to someone with a foot in the Rovers camp at Sheff Utd yesterday, when I mentioned JDT has £10m to spend he burst out laughing, he also said Brereton isn't going anywhere unless someone bids £20m in this window. Make of that what you will.
  5. I agree with what you’re saying here Jim but in my opinion it’s not a Waggott project, it’s a Venky project. Its a Venkyism that we’ve heard many times over the past 12yrs and means we’ve fooked up another managerial appointment.
  6. They have to be cheap and not wanted by one of the bigger budgets in the league. We’ve been here before…
  7. Bradford beat Hull City live on Sky in the last round and I wouldn't put it past them to knock us out on Tuesday, been invited on corporate by a City fan, be rude not to. Last time I went to Valley Parade it was standing on away end and lively walking back to the station. Bradford 1 Rovers 2
  8. Its like they all went on holiday in the summer and nobody came back, this isn't down to one player, its across the group. Its not like this wasn't predicted, you can't lose half a team over the summer and expect to compete.
  9. This site has an obsession with signing Van Hecke. Don’t get me wrong the lads a class act, but a Mowbray signing, that’s surely where the story ends. Brighton won’t want him coming here unless we buy him outright, JDT is his own man with this own ideas, why would he be after Van Hecke? Time to move on.
  10. £33 a ticket to watch that toothless rubbish yesterday, great effort by 1500 fans that made the trip, we were badly let down.
  11. Yes I know what you mean, he always looked ready to unload without actually making a sustained effort until the final few rounds, but yes, Usyk was just better. How did one judge give the fight to Joshua? Bonkers.....
  12. It was a strange day yesterday for many reasons and none of them football related. I have my first vegetarian Full English here: https://vorvsheffield.co.uk/ Absolutely spot on to be honest and I didn't spend the next 3hrs feeling like I'd just downed a full bottle of vegetable oil, I'll be going back. Then is was on to a Sheffield institution https://www.thefatcat.co.uk/ where we sat in the sun dreaming of 3 points as a steady stream of real ale Rovers fans passed through, the secret of The Fat Cat is clearly out. We jumped into an Uber at 2.15pm and were dropped at the big roundabout close to Bramall Lane. That coincided with the noisy and vociferous Rovers contingent, that had come on the train, exiting from the underpass with heavy police escort who looked scared to death to be honest. As we all walked up towards the cricketers pubs a couple of blades fans (50yrs+) rushed the escort, punches flew, coppers helmets went flying, it was over very quickly, police on top, blades fans 0 Police 2. After the customary police sniffer dog and pat down we took our seats and hope was high, lovely day for football, a packed Bramall Lane looking a picture, 1500 Rovers in great voice, then the match started........... That performance yesterday was the worst I've seen away from home in a very long time. Sam Gallagher was our best defender in the first half, he never missed a clearing header, he also never crossed the halfway line more than a couple of times, thats the amount of pressure we found ourselves under. The second half was much of the same, men against boys, I don't think we had a shot on goal all match, dire stuff. Sheff Utd are a good side, they'll be in the mix come next May, but we never laid a finger of them in 90 minutes and its extremely worrying. Yesterday and Reading in mid-week, we looked like is a side staring at relegation, even at this early junction, we need 3/4 quality additions or we're in dire straights. I don't blame the manager, he's working under the same restrictions as the last manager, with no money and a worse squad than last season, worrying time indeed, this squad is relegation fodder. After the game it was back to Kelham Island, cider, beer, margarita? I think.......... and Boa here https://www.thisissheffield.com/food-and-drink/salt-sheffield/ another first, what is Boa? Japanese steamed buns filled with chicken in my case, lovely, the vegetarian adventure was fine, but I needed meat to even things out... I'll be keeping the faith, for now, onwards and upwards.
  13. He couldn't hit him is the reason why K-Hod, the movement of Usyk was again sublime, his choice of punches, timing, just brilliant for such a big man, won easily and I think he could well beat Fury too. Joshua throwing the belts around last night was embarrassing, he tried to pull it back with his deranged speech but lost loads of respect at the end for me. Time to pack it in AJ.
  14. Thank goodness we have £10m still to spend or we’d be in real trouble.
  15. I think it’s time for the relegation thread to be redirected, that today was the worst away performance I’ve seen in a very long time.
  16. This is men against boys, second best all over the park, they’re just better than us. Sam Gallagher our best defender, which tells its own tale. At least the suns shining.
  17. Tripe, Tyrone. Armstrong, Kaminski, Dack, Brereton = £40m+ right there, but the king is dead, long live the king.
  18. You need to read back a few pages, some posters seem to think we'll be spending £10m in this transfer window! Yes £10m! Where the feck was £10m in January when we sat 2nd in the division?
  19. Rubbish, for all the reasons stated above. Lets see at the end of the window how much JDT was given to spend, as I'm sure your substantial budget above must still be available. Keep in mind several mangers turned the job down, which translates to not enough money to challenge the top 6.
  20. We had little to no budget in summer 2020, January 21, summer 21 and you'd now have us believe that all of a sudden someone found millions in a suitcase at the back of The Riverside in January 22 and the manager refused to spend it? What complete and utter nonsense with respect. If it doesn't make any sense its probably not true Simon.
  21. You have much more faith in Venkys ability to judge a manager than I have yeti. A club sitting 2nd in the division at Christmas, playing some good football and winning week in week out, to not back the manager at that stage? A manager that has used transfer funds really well, you support that decision? Mowbray was marmite on here I understand that, but your stance makes little or no sense to me with the greatest of respect. I doubt we'll ever have a better opportunity than last season to make that step up, I hope I'm wrong of course, but I won't hold my breath.
  22. You make a good point Jimmy and to be honest I have no idea, but when a transfer fee was involved he usually bought well, his record is pretty good, you missed Dack of your list who was brilliant from day one, Kaminski too, Ayala when he plays, but we'll never know. If Venkys give JDT 8-10m to spend this season every Rovers fan should be up in arms, they're taking the piss out of us if they do that given where we found ourselves in January and plug was pulled.
