  1. This fixture brings back memories of a long Boxing Day drive to get to Ewood in 2001.... only to watch Niall Quinn and Kevin Philips give a masterclass in forward play that tore us apart (0-3),but hoping for better today ! Think we can get a win, but would be OK if it was our first draw....
  2. Having moved house to live quite close to Birmingham only in the last couple of weeks, and my son being married into a Birmingham supporting family this is an awkward one. But from what I hear, they don't fancy their chances much, so I am hoping for a narrow win ( 2-1). But, I have a feeling it will be the first draw of the season.....
  3. Memories of making a special trip to Ewood on Boxing Day (2001) to see us play Sunderland. Almost had to beg the ticket office for one of the last few seats......saw us lose 0-3, and we were torn apart by Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips. Hoping for much better tonight ...
  4. Would be a good choice, but I think they will go for Pochettino
  5. Brendan Rodgers might just fancy a move from Leicester for that one .....
  6. Because WBA played Mon & Thurs this week ( due to the Commonwealth Games in Brum taking all police resources last weekend).
  7. Just watched the game on the Rovers website - have to say that is the first game in a very very long time when I could see that the team had a proper plan worked out, and were executing it all the way through. Lots of signalling to each other, especially when they lost possession, and JDT giving instructions from the line. Very impressed with Hedges performance, and Edun looked like a new player too. Very optimistic about the new approach ( if we can get the squad depth to where it needs to be)
  8. QR started much stronger , we looked nervous and not sure of the system perhaps. Few tackles flying about and Buckley could have gone off with a second yellow... Improved and had a v good spell leading up to a great goal from Travis. Not brilliant, but not bad and an acceptable first 45mins of the season....
  9. That's what I expect..... Very attacking lineup - like it.
  10. ....fully aware, but in fact when you only visit occasionally, the sad deterioration is probably even more noticeable. But new season, new start ....and having been over 200 miles away for 40 years, and mainly watching away games with the odd Ewood visit, I am about to move back closer (to about 100 miles), so intend to be a much more regular visitor very soon. Today, a comfortable 3 - 1 (maybe)
  11. Excited for this one today - hoping to see a new, and hopefully effective, approach but prepared for it to take a few games for the boss to get things really moving. (these boards tend to show that Rovers fans have always had an infinite capacity for pessimism, negativity and misery - probably a local trait - but it eventually wears off when you live away from the area for a long time....)
  12. Watford fans I know all seem to believe that Dyche has agreed to return there once Hodgson goes at the end of the season....
  13. Watford supporters I know are convinced that Dyche is going back to Vicarage Road ....
  14. Was planning to watch this on RoversTV (not really sure why), but doesn't seem to be available, yet ?
  15. Perhaps TM is going to shock us all and play Gallagher through the middle, with Khadra & Dolan wide .... (doubt it though)
  16. I thought before the game last night that a draw would be a reasonable result - to lose it in added time was just tragic. On the game itself - we were overrun and hopeless for the first 10-15mins, then gradually got ourselves together. The defence, and midfield improved and for the second half we were the better side, even before the sending off. Pickering, although completely off the pace at first got more involved and probably had our best shot on goal, I think he does make a difference. But the real problem as we all know is not being able to score - we need to change things around although with the resources we have I'm not sure how (until Dack is fit to start)... do we give Vale a try ? Saturday against QPR is going to be another hard game, and then Fulham away we can just forget about.
  17. I know TM has said he isn't ready, but I still wouldn't be surprised to see Dack on the bench tonight ...
