...more chance of that turning up than Britt Assombalonga wearing it...?

It is a feed so what we really could do with is a fan with loads of spare time & oodles of enthusiasm to start a YouTube account called Rovers Nostalgia say, and post them all in one feed & we could pick that up... I have toyed with it but just don't have enough time to do that & the pods as well but perhaps when I retire... !!!

One of the best quiz questions I ever set...What links these photos...? (Obviously it’s a lot easier when posed in this thread...?) -

Tony's Transfer Record Part 2
Herbie6590 replied to Blue blood's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Brereton casts a disproportionate shadow given the fee. For us to spend so much on one player is significant, for that signing never to have nailed down a starting berth raises a lot of questions as to the logic. It’s hard to see how this one turns around, Shades of Davies & Grabbi I fear though I’d be delighted to be proved wrong. i’d cut TM a deal of slack on loan signings, I tend to think of those as being gambles on fringe players. If they come off, great; if not, you keep the receipt & return the goods ! The issue this season is that Mowbray’s best signing has been a loan player in Reed who really looks the part and became anything but a fringe player. I understand taking the gamble on Palmer (& similarly last year on Harper...) but neither worked out. Rodwell...meh...some classy touches hinting at what once was but he failed to nail down a regular spot. Not convinced he’s a centre back, unless he plays alongside an absolute beast. Chapman...always going to be one for next season given fitness. Hope rather than expectation. Armstrong worth it for the money. Think we can get more out of him. Rothwell has emerged late in the season to demonstrate real potential. -
It would appear in Rovers books as an expense

The mysterious case of Joe Rothwell.
Herbie6590 replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I’ve said it elsewhere, hopefully it bears repeating; Rothwell I think is very similar to Rochina. A lad with abundant talent who is exciting to watch & makes things happen but at a cost...the cost being a tendency to over elaborate, to run down blind alleys & make a poor choice as to when to play a final ball. We couldn’t find a place for Ruben rightly or wrongly & we seem to be going down the same road with Rothwell. Last week at Wednesday, he made a goal & always looked to make something happen. Yesterday, the 3 subs all made bright contributions and nearly rescued a point out of what at one point looked like being a proper toasting by Villa. My observation based on TM’s radio chat last week & how he’s used him all season is that he doesn’t appear to trust him to carry out instructions. I’d be tempted to start Rothwell & Brereton every game till the end of the season to see if they can do it week in, week out & then at least we’d all have some hard evidence one way or another ready for next season. if I was Rothwell, I’d be a bit twitchy as to my future at Blackburn Rovers. -
In this episode, writer John Duerden shares details of his latest project, a book about the 1995 title-winning team & asks podcast host Ian Herbert about his recollections of that momentous time in the club's history. The book will be out later this year and we will follow up with John nearer the time to share publication details. View full record

The FFP calculation is based on the football club but “related transactions” are excluded to ensure as far as possible a “like for like” comparison between clubs. This means that spending £1m on a top accountant might be a better investment than a centre forward.... modern football. ?♂️ -

Covered higher up in the thread...essentially, yes, it’s a possibility. So using my analogy, it would be like falling out with your mum & dad & them asking for their money back meaning you have to sell the car you’ve just bought & accept that you’re riding a bike for a while...☹️ -

The losses can be seen in a/cs at Companies House but those accounting numbers are then adjusted for FFP calculations, so you can’t just take the numbers from the a/cs & add them up. Certain transactions are allowed/disallowed to ensure (allegedly) a common standard. This stops Venky’s from circumventing the rules by paying say, £100m for a Venky’s shirt sponsorship deal. That would be a disallowed transaction as it would have obviously have been inflated above market value. Now if you can explain how Man City manage to do it, we might have a path through FFP !!! -

Indeed & this is the conundrum that Waggott & Cheston have to contend with...chase the dream & succeed like Wolves or fail like Sheff Weds/Villa, or accept our place, develop & trade young players, pick up some free transfers & so on...we are back to the standard Rovers 1970’s/80’s business model. The added complexity now is that every year 3 clubs come down with parachute payments which dwarfs our income. Andy Holt at Stanley has a similar challenge albeit on a smaller scheme but his view is to build a sustainable business which operates a football club. Rovers effectively need to do something similar as FFP makes cheque book ownership much more difficult/risky. -

Irrelevant to be blunt...all subsidiaries will be grouped up into the ultimate parent undertaking in India...that’s where the final tax computation will take place. -

You couldn’t be more wrong if you had sat down & tried. Ask yourself why all the major accounting firms have global presences and advise their clients on how to minimise their tax bills across multi national tax regimes. ?♂️
