Great discussion here One more for the mix. My 2002 hat trick for Langho reserves against Blue Star was a performance for the ages. Whilst some of these players are legendary in stature could they have done it on a pleasant Tuesday evening at Pleasy in September?

These two look leagues above what we saw at weekend

I can remember 3 saves that Walton had to make, I don’t recall their keeper making one 20 minutes between their winner and full time and not a single meaningful attack whilst the boss makes a bizarre sub that he had obviously already set his mind on and didn’t or couldn’t adapt his plan

After the end of last season and pre season it’s disappointing that Rothwell isn’t in there, Nyambe always should be ahead of Bennett but not shocked that he’s not. Really glad that Buckley stays in the squad but he’s unlikely to come on with DG, Rothwell and BB on as well

Aneke is a decent signing for them, think he’ll score tomorrow but we’ll end up comfortable winners No Bennett, Evans or Smallwood please

Burys second game is now called off as well, they may never kick another ball I fear

I like this bit at least: Drop balls can no longer be contested, but the change is more positive than it sounds. If play is stopped, the ball will be dropped to a player on the team that last touched the ball - and where they touched it. All other players must be 4.5 yards (4m) away. What that means is if a team's attack is stopped, they will get the ball back in that position - instead of the opponents booting the ball down the field.

I’ve no doubt some rules will be ignored to help them out

They have no kit but agreed a short term kit with Hummel. Hummel make class kits so they’ve done ok there. Do they even have enough academy players to fill the team tomorrow

Wish Nuttall nothing but the best, he’s a goal scorer and got some vital scruffy ones in our promotion season, hope he does well for himself

But why won’t the PFA pay Bury wages?

As expected Bolton’s game will go ahead at weekend but Burys is off, I bet the FA / football league are gutted that Bury got promoted

Yes the window closes on the 8th but (and I have no stats to back this up just my view) Mowbray tends to be slow to put players into the team, if we sign a defender on the last day we may not actually see them as part of the team until September or so, by which point a lot of points could have been lost

My wife took the kids down, had a great morning and the boy got signatures and pics with all the players. Stuff like this is great, truth be told he’s not hugely into football but events like this can help build that next generation of fans and give them new heroes. Well done to all involved with setting up

Seems the FA are protecting Bolton a lot more than Bury who they seem to want to clamp down on. Amazingly Bolton fans think the FA are harsh on them and shouldn’t dock more points for the fiasco last season

Whenever he’s played in our reserves he’s scored goals, he’s nabbed a few in the first team as well. He has a knack for it, he’ll get scruffy goals, off his face, arse or otherwise, that’s a gift that’s great for a striker to have. Could easily see him hit double figures with a season in league one
