The January 2026 Transfer Window

I suppose I have to be happy we have signed somebody. Hopefully he comes good. We are beyond desperate for a striker, we have either kept somebody well under wraps or its looking worryingly quiet. -

The one or two extra games isnt the problem though is it? I'd think it is reasonable to assume Cantwell and Baradji are not fully fit, Ohashi must be due a rest and is literally the only fit striker with first team experience at the club. I'd say Miller has played more football than anybody in the league with his international games added so is at high risk of injury. We are having to protect the squad rather than writing off a game. The balancing act of not losing more players has to have some thought, well unless we get Val's list signed off and sign a few first team ready players for Saturday. -

Got to agree with you there, I've never been one to "throw" a game but our squad strength is so bare we just cannot take the risk during a season that relegation is a very real possibility. I'd add Miller to that list too, the lad has played every international break. -

I can hear the manager peddling Gestede's lines already about how that list has had to be binned due to injuries. We have to spread the budget thinner on loans/signings due to the stretched squad and that is why things are taking longer. -

It is a free hit all around. The manager wouldn't get any stick, as who the hell else is there to play? No matter how bad a rep the big mean Rovers fans get, the young lads are treated well by the fans. It is a free hit today with how low expectations are. -

We've had that before, id say this manager is too grumpy to blag that one. -

Well we needed players on Thursday, what are our predictions for the first signing? Any first team ready before Hull on the 11th? -

Litherland out for a couple of months according to his social media. I don’t know if I have it in me to watch Miller playing wing back on Sunday, miss hitting every pass. -
I just cannot bring myself to play a comparison game with Wrexham or Derby etc, good luck to them. I just want our owners gone and to give us a fighting chance of some self respect.
-
I have spent the day pissed off, as most of my posts must show, but one final point of raw emptiness came when I saw Matty Litherland pull up, and thought that is going to hurt us. Matty Litherland is an academy centre back, filling in at right back at a multi million pound football club and he was our last option.
-
Thanks for that, appreciate it. I wondered when watching today if Cantwell was over inflated in my head, we seemed to do okay results wise when he was missing from my memory. The stats certainly do appear to not have him as a game changer. For me, the best thing is that Tronstad agrees a deal for somebody for next season so his future is sorted for him and his family, and he can give his all for Rovers until the end of the season.
-
I am getting a feeling that we did better without Cantwell than with him results based? I know we have some stattos on here, am I completely wrong?
-
Ohashi cross shot, of course Lewis Miller would be our only player in the 6 yard box.
-
Some of our lads are desperate for a 2nd yellow here.
-
We are down to the bare bones but I still struggle to believe any manager could put that forward line out after Monday. To further compound that we play 3 centre halves against one striker, who still couldn't do anything against the one striker. Awful.
-
Litherland now injured. He was literally our only person trying to get forward with purpose.
-
Rubber dinghy men. Lots of pointing and shrugging. Absolutely embarrassing!
-
These two up top is an experiment that has well and truly run it's course. Has the manager not realised all our midfielders are having to commit to attack and one kick forward leaves us all over the place!!!!
-
No matter how many clean sheets he has had Pears is always good for stinker. Shite!
-
Their keeper is useless. We need Cantwell to be hitting the target today.
-
I cannot help but get the horrible feeling this will be a galling afternoon. I just cannot see how we score, I think our defence has been pretty decent lately so could be due a step down in performance. I am also not in the mood to watch Wrexham fans have a party at our home, but have a bad feeling I will be.

KentExile has mentioned Valentin Joesph in the U21's thread. From the sounds of things he could/should have been a squad option for sure last night. -
My knowledge of the youth system isnt great, so it really frustrates me that there is a player as you describe who could have offered us something different last night even for the last 10 minutes.

There are some games that are just a waste of everybody's time, last night was one of them. Everything was just so half arsed, the passing was diabolical, I've never seen such slow passing which meant everything started from a standing start. We needed Cantwell to carry us, he was very underwhelming. Baradji ran out of steam alarmingly after about 35 minutes which shows he started out of desperation for numbers. Ohashi and Hendrickson are a partnership that offer nothing together. Ohashi has a role as support for another striker and has proved competent at doing that, the other striker is definitely not Hendrickson. Litherland was willing, and full of effort and most certainly doesn’t look out of place. Fair play to the lad. We need to sign multiple players ready to go on Thursday, it isnt going to happen though is it!?
