I think that chance had probably gone by the time he finally left, and he probably sees an international gig as a good way of rebuilding his reputation. Also, he won’t have a berk like Broughton choosing his players.

The problem is, a few of that core of players are always likely to be injured at any one time, and the quality of the bench is crucial in modern day football, especially with games coming thick and fast.

But better to draw all four than lose them, which was the reality under JDT this season. I think draws against Preston and Norwich are creditable, but we need to be beating the teams around us……

It doesn’t matter how many points we get, if Eustace keeps us up his appointment will have been successful in the short term. He’s not exactly cutting down trees, but there are hopeful signs. Only time will tell. JDT didn’t want to be here (can’t entirely blame him) and the change had to be made. I think we looked like relegation on a stick towards the end of his tenure.

Well I had us down as losing at Preston and again today, so you never know. I think both were good results, but we definitely need to be beating the likes of Millwall and Plymouth at home.

Happy with our result (especially from a losing position at half time), pity about the other scores. At least we are showing some fight, but this could get very tense.

Well, yes, they do have form, but I still think that Eustace (and his agent) will have taken the job with open eyes. He will not have the kind of fall - back options that JDT does, and needs to establish himself as a Championship manager.

It would be interesting to know exactly what Eustace was told about the process for future recruitment. Hopefully, this won't involve Gregg, his player tombola and bag of lollipops. I think he will have come into the job with a bit more background knowledge about the club than JDT had, so doubt he will be expecting significant funds.

From reading about Eustace’s background it’s clear he is open to playing different styles, not just direct. We needed a more pragmatic approach and we are getting one. It’s about cobbling points together using the resources we have until the end of the season, and probably beyond.

Look, may I politely suggest that you tone it down a bit. There is a more courteous way of disagreeing with someone else’s viewpoint than jumping in and tearing a strip off them, (your reply to my original post). Also, it really is better to have a shred of credibility on here before being so outspoken. I don’t rate Broughton. I think he’s a typically dreadful Venkys appointment and I would rather see Eustace at the forefront of transfer dealings, (hence the benefit of the doubt with no history of poor signings). Thanks to our owners landing us in the brown stuff (again) we need a more pragmatic approach, and for me that does not include a DOF, or at least certainly not one who is another blatant chancer. If you rate Broughton, that’s fine. You will no doubt back him until he leaves, (hopefully soon), when you will say that it was the right decision. You do not the ability to be objective about Rovers and still struggle to believe that any decision made is a bad one. It's obviously very difficult to deal in the market under these circumstances, but at least have someone who has the slightest clue doing the job. The guy is massively out of his depth imo.

I simply do not rate or trust Broughton. Another window like last Summer and we are sure to go down (even if we survive this season). I would be prepared to give Eustace (or another DOF) the benefit of the doubt.
