  1. The sadness I feel is not because I'm a Leeds fan but because this is the danger for any relegated team. It's frighteneing.
  2. I still think it's going to be interesting to see how a comparatively inexperienced, but successful, manager copes at Chelsea. It's a totally different proposition to Porto.
  3. He's coming for £1,500,000-Daily Telegraph. It seems the "qualities" sometimes agree with the tabloids.
  4. The LET seem to think it's still a possibility and haven't ruled it out.
  5. Simon garner was arguing that by stripping him of the captaincy it was increasing the chances of him leaving(LET). Maybe Souness can't get rid of Todd and Yorke.
  6. I was reading Alan Smith in the Daily Telegraph today and was intrigued by his description of a good management:"...none of this would have come as much of a surprise to the Porto locals who are well versed in clever management techniques. under Jose Mourinho....when skilful team-building bore the ultimate fruit. An indication, here, of exactly what good management can do. It nurtures and develops; most importantly it has the capacity to extract the full potential from footballers" Interesting criteria to judge Souness by.
  7. Perhaps it shows that Souness has learned little about how to avoid upsetting players. It seems strange after all the fuss Souness made 12 months before about extending his contrct longer than the Club wanted to and praising him so much. The LET yesterday said that Wigan had made no move for Flitcroft and no improvement for Todd.
  8. What I am also finding fascinating is that Chelsea can't buy all the people on their wish list as so many are turning them down. And that Kenyon is nowhere ner as clever s he thought he was. i wonder how long Roman will tolerate him.
  9. Because he loved playing for Rovers and he loved living in the Ribble Valley. Fact. Maybe he'll make enough money whilst he's away that we will be able to afford him.
  10. It will be interesting to see how many more supporters renew- there has been a lot of anecdotal talk about people not renewing-and I look forward to seeing how many folks can be won round by the club.I'm sure some can but I'm also sure a fair amount won't be.Maybe they'll see how it goes, pick their matches and go when they can sit with their mates.I don't altogether blame them.As for the previous season when we finished 6th and there was also a reduction in season tickets, I would remind people that the only time in the season we were 6th was after the last match. And there were also a lot of dire home games, including losses to Everton and Spurs and home draws against Bolton and West Brom.
  11. Of course it is personal preference but it also impacts on our club.
  12. I sit in one of the most expensive areas because I have sat there more years than I care to remember with a number of people as well as my wife.Non-renewal was a consideration after the very poor season in the 1st Division. It was also when I came to renew-I'd forgotten how much I'd paid-after last season's appalling displays. It might not be as much as a fan pays for their season ticket at another club, but so what? In my opinion £1,000 is a lot to pay for 2 season tickets and I could do a lot of things with it.
  13. I hope the Rovers sell a lot of season tickets but the only real reason for people to renew is because the prices have been held. Last season was a total disaster at home. WE LOST 10 HOME GAMES. The only real way to attract people is a combination of success and quality play.As it is we can't afford to make a big signing- would it be sensible of the Directors to let Souness squander yet more funds?-and Souness has to realise he has a big responsibility that goes with a, no doubt, big salary. I doubt the supposed good news will attract waverers-a Scottish signing who has been injured since before the New Year and has delivered very little up to now.A small midfield player who probably over produced when he first arrived, has been injured for significant spells and who was useless last season. A youngster who played a few matches at full back without ever really looking the part as a full back. Maybe he'll be a centre back but he went backwards last season even before he got injured. The season ticket for me and my wife cost £1,000. Good value? I don't think so.
  14. It was in the press at the time that Abromovich had paid the money up front.Coming back to Kenyon, he was getting some stick recently and it was said by at least one quality writer that Kenyon was not as clever as he thought he was.
  15. If a deal is to be struck it's more likely to be next week when he returns from a family holiday(LET).
  16. He's probably delighted at the prospects at playing with so many 30 year olds-he'll fit in great. or could it be that we're offering him more than the other clubs?
  17. Thank you liquidsaint-every new poster, including Rovers fans, get slated. Keep visiting. Good posts Jim and Rovers6.
  18. I really like the irony of Burnley doing well as a result of our lending them players.
  19. I'm delighted that prices are good for yound adults and children etc. Some of them are very expensive for adults.
  20. I forgot how much they cost. So that's £1,000 to pay out.Even with loyalty.
  21. I think the reference was to an industrial setting-people came to work with a smile on the Monday after a win and productivity was up; the opposite when there was a loss.
