  1. He joined Liverpool at the age of 6 https://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/academy/player/leighton-clarkson
  2. I get where you are coming from but last season , Douglas , Trybull, Elliot, Braintwaithe and Harwood Bellis all had spells out of the team. Trybull when not injured spent a good bit of time on the bench,Douglas had time spent on the bench.Elliot when standards dropped put on the bench.Bellis had to wait a little to get in but once Braintwaithe was showing poor form then Braintwaithe was dropped and Bellis replaced him. Both Elliot and Bellis were in the team on merit. We have lost 12 players and one would hope we have 3 or 4 coming through that will be ready to play a part this season but anymore than that and it will be unprecedented. Some of our younger ones will be better getting regular game time in league one or two, which will benefit both them and us in the longer term
  3. Clarkson and Travis in front of the back four with Rothwell more advanced. Its a long season Buckley, Rothwell, Travis Clarkson , Davenport won't play every game. Elliot didn't start every match last season
  4. I think Clarkson is similar on the ball but more defensive minded and sits more in front of the back 4.
  5. Ha true but Wayne Rooney, Darren Ferguson and Carlos Corberan are hardly managerial heavyweights
  6. I think you underestimate how bad some of the teams are in this division. We ain't the only team with a piss poor bench. We need signings no doubt but Huddersfield, Derby and Peterborough at a minimum are worse than us
  7. Yeah but apart from this football insider nobody has said he has turned us down
  8. Football insider? Isn't this the same fella who said Obafemi had turned us down? When we hadn't even spoken to the player yet
  9. Are you a grown man or a child? I don't know what point you are trying to make with your stupid childish replies. Are you that daft that you can't understand it would be hard for a 21 year old guy going into a dressing room and playing with a team that he can't communicate with? So I take it you think him being unable to speak the language shouldn't hinder him?
  10. We needed the same when Dack got injured and Armstrong stepped up, nobody on here at the time could have predicted such a upturn in Armstrong's numbers. We need to improve the team unless extremely lucky we ain't buying anyons who will immediately start hitting those sort of figures, his 28 goals got us a 15th place finish.
  11. Did you watch the games he played for Chile? If not don't have any idea why you are joining the conversation. Or did you read the match report on Wikipedia?
  12. I'm not disputing the price tag was way too much but last season was much improved and anyone who doesn't agree with that just can't get away from his price tag.
  13. I do yes.He didn't make team of the group stages through the novelty factor.
  14. We don't have to replace 30 goals. We have to improve as a team and stop letting in silly goals and get ahead when we are the dominant side. It takes 1 goal to win a game , not playing down Armstrong's season but how many of those 28 goals came when we were beating teams well?
  15. Yeah you must have been watching different games to myself, the Chile coaching staff, Chile supporters and his Chilean team mates who all gave praise and said he played well.Even when he came on against Brazil he looked a danger and was very unlucky not to score. Never said he did look like a 7 million player.Just because he hasn't shown he is worth 7 million doesn't mean he doesn't give value to the team.Brererton didn't put that valuation on him nor did any fan who thinks he has something about him
  16. Eh? I said he played well for Chile DESPITE the fact he doesn't speak the language. Have no idea what you are waffling on about
  17. He played well the week before.Hardly anyone comes out with credit for Tuesday night
  18. Everyone was woeful in the second half at least on Tuesday night. They crashed out to Brazil losing 1-0 in the quarter final. He played well in spells last season his assists and goals improved also and he played well enough against Swansea. He can improve but we shouldn't be contemplating letting him run his contract down .He is an asset and is getting better
  19. He had a decent season last year, some good spells some bad like everyone else. Not sure if you watched the Chile matches but he played well it wasn't just a case of him scoring 1 goal and everyone thinking he is brilliant, he played very well for them especially if you consider he doesn't know the language etc
  20. Yeah but they are going too, they don't want the player and are open to offers we have first option not exclusivety. If he doesn't want to join us Southampton ain't going to keep him out of spite
