  1. Unreal We want to develop our academy players and sell them with none of the money going back into the team We should be happy this ffs Gestede is an absolute clown
  2. Mowbray does well initially at most clubs(Inc here) he is at but then usually it goes pear shaped. I also don't fully buy it when he is described as Mr Nice guy. That goes out the window when he is faced with any criticism. He did it here many times "its not 94/95 anymore. He only criticised the ownership and questioned the running of the club when it became apparent he wasn't getting a new deal ,if he had been offered a new contract he would not have kicked up a fuss over the club refusing to sell Rothwell . He should have been sacked on the spot when he did an interview and openly admitted he encouraged Stuart Harvey to take the job on offer from massive club Sunderland who were in League One at the time.
  3. We were 2 nil down against Derby and they looked like scoring every time they came forward. He had to change something in that game and the performance improved when he did(granted not enough).
  4. Think he had the most assists in the league when he was here.He was an excellent loan
  5. Iv no confidence they will spend that amount but the summer we sold Armstrong we hardly spent anything then the following summer fees were spent on Brittain,Hyam and Szmodic for 5/6 million
  6. I think his father is the landlord of the vic pub in blackburn ,it was my father who was telling me he has the odd pint in there
  7. If the rumour that he is to take over from Waggott is true then he needs mentioning. Yeah he might be new to the party but it needs to be heard that it would be totally unacceptable for him to be appointed CEO
  8. They have a lot of players out according to the telegraph no confidence we will win like but would have been tougher a few weeks ago
  9. Yes we shouldn't have sold him But we wouldn't have got the Gray fee if we waited until Summer when the player himself would have most likely felt he would have needed to move on People on here might not like it and I don't agree with it but fact is Gray was being rated higher externally than Wharton, England involvement and fee paid is testament to that. Big clubs ain't gonna ignore an £18 million fee to pay 30 million only a few months later
  10. Fine by me cus no chance that money is being paid for him
  11. With no sell on though, coming from a club who had recently been in the Premier league and his family name is big within English football .
  12. At the time they bought Scott he was one of the best young midfielders in the division, captained his Club and was keeping Premier league youngsters out of the England under 21 starting line ups. If Rigg goes for anywhere close to 37 million in the summer il be absolutely shocked.Very good young player with massive potential but they won't get that sort of money for him. It's like this people where going mad on here when young Watson from Sunderland was being linked with a move to Brighton with reports it was a 20 million+ deal...it turned out Brighton had only bid 10 million as the initial fee
  13. No need for excuses I can nearly 100% guarantee that nobody will be paying £37 million for Rigg.
  14. I can't speak for anybody else but I have never said we should have taken the offer in January. And I have never suggested anyone has said we could have sold him for £30 million in the January window. My opinion is he would have been looking to move up a level in the Summer anyway if he was ambitious over his career yeah I get he ie a Rovers fan but surely like the rest of us will know the club is going nowhere whilst we have these owners,so I don't see that much more would have been put down we might have got £22 up front or similar but no chance of £30 mill for him after a few more months playing at the same level for a side struggling. Big clubs and the national coaches where missing something with him
  15. It's an insignificant amount for a top club ,who could have paid it without any issues. The comments are "anyone can see it " or "anyone with 2 eyes can see how good he was and we would have got much more in the summer " He had played 12 months of regular championship football, and had not been called up once,so obviously the people making those decisions didn't fancy him enough. I don't care that you don't care about the England u21, its an indicator of how little or big a young player is rated outside his club ,they obviously didn't rate him highly enough like the top clubs(wrongly so ) but the evidence is there he wasn't picked and the top clubs didn't come in for And on your first point I don't think Wharton was having a great season with us last season, moments of quality but our midfield was being dominated most games from December onwards. I'm just of the opinion he needed to prove himself up a level before the fees would have got much much larger.
  16. The comment was "anyone can see it with him".If the big clubs wanted him they would have bought him in January. The general concensus is that Palace got an absolute bargain. The big clubs ain't going to pass up on a bargain in the January window to come back a few months later and pay many millions more. And also the England under 21s is supposedly for the best young players of that age in the country...he didn't make one squad whilst here.Even the younger ages than that he wasn't being involved until he had played at championship level for us whilst Phillips was.Im of the opinion these scouts and recruitment felt he was missing something in his game, that's why it was Palace took him and not one of the bigger clubs. Disgrace we were forced to sell him but there is absolutely no evidence to suggest that teams where going to be coming in in the summer putting down many more millions on the table for him.
  17. Everyone? Then why weren't City , Liverpool, Arsenal etc matching the low transfer fee? Why had he played a year for us but hadn't received a call up to the under 21s? Young Rigg at Sunderland has a lot of noise about him and has looked excellent the times iv seen him, yet Nixon and other media are saying Sunderland were hoping for £20 million but only likely to get 10 plus extras. We where never going to get £30 million for Wharton whilst a championship club
  18. At West Brom they were 5th when he left and only 8 points off 2nd place in february. The change of manager did nothing they ended the season in tenth.Maybe the squad of players wasn't as good as their supporters, journalists and board thought. I'm coming across as an Ismael fan boy, I'm not he wouldn't have been on my radar if I owned the Club. And early signs here are not encouraging but why don't we just give him a bit of time before we rush to any conclusions.
  19. No I don't.Thats my point Did we not just have this with Eustace last season?Yes man...Eusless ...interviews dour putting people to sleep and so on 0 wins in 7 pre the 6 game winning run with 5 of those losses ..1 win in 9 after it with 6 defeats. We lost under Eustace...and had long periods without a win under Eustace, and lost to teams towards the bottom of the table under him. Ismael deserves more than 4 games to show what he can do.If we won our next 4 games I wouldn't be coming on here saying he is the right man for the job.
  20. John Eustace was doing it last season . He has been here for 4 games ffs.People are too hasty writing people off. I suggest you go back and read the john eustace thread from when he was appointed. We didn't win in our first ten.
  21. Or Ferguson or Arsene Wenger Both hardly inspiring in front of the cameras yet 2 of the most successful managers In the Premier league era.
  22. I don't think signing Woodrow had anything to do with Ismael. He has barely played him. To have been in conversations with Ismael,Rovers would have to have known Derby would be sacking their manager and know that Eustace would replace him. If they knew Ismael was going to replace him and where already signing players on his behalf how do you explain the 2 Weeks or whatever it was from Eustace leaving before Ismael was appointed ? We signed Woodrow because Eustace wanted an experienced striker and the club took the cheap and short term option
  23. Last season plenty on here where saying the exact same things about Eustace as they are about Ismael now. Last season Mercer and others where critical over how Eustace was in front of media "dour" "how can players be inspired Eustace has no personality " Multiple posters calling him Eusless....posters calling him a yes man....posters predicting relegation the following seasons under him. Eustace was sacked by brum(harshly so) but jobs became available and passed him by.He wasn't some young hot shot who clubs were fighting over .Even this season he was pimping himself to any job going they all looked elsewhere apart from Derby who were stuck in relegation. Don't get me wrong I rate Eustace ,doesn't change the fact posters were being mega critical of him when he first came in and are saying the same things about Ismael now as they where about Eustace
  24. It was an achievement getting Barnsley to the playoffs. Just above relegation the season before it and relegated the season after West brom sacked when fifth, 8 points from 2nd.They finished the season 10th. He wouldn't have been my choice And its been rubbish so far but trying to take away what he did with Barnsley and downplay it Is ridiculous.Getting them into the playoffs was exceptional.
  25. Like Eustace ? Hardly inspiring in front of the cameras, and he turned out fine
