Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Come off it. Trying to credit Struber with their top 6 finish. Could you expand on that? How did Struber lay the groundwork? They finished just above relegation under Struber and got relegated the season after Ismael left after he had taken them to the playoffs. They played a different style under Ismael to what they did under Struber, they also signed Darryl Dikes under Ismael who was a big player for them when fit -

It's Been inconsistent all through the season before the 6 game winning run,7 without a win losing 5 of them and drawing twice, straight after the 6 game winning run no win in 5, 3 defeats and 2 draws. Then won a game...then lost 3 and so on... It has been crap since Ismael come in but it is still only 4 games.Despite the 3 wins in 5 leading up to his appointment it still wasn't an easy situation he was coming into.Zero points from the last 3 games is awful but like I have said previously it wouldn't have shocked me if Eustace was still in charge we had got zero points We have a weak mentality and have had it for years -

Sry didn't mean to quote your post Hasta but yes my initial post was worded incorrectly, I meant we have played in patches this season good or woeful form Agree with his comments about promotion and this season but that has come from above. He will have no pressure from above to secure a top 6 position this season If the club was ambitious and really wanted promotion this year then Ismael wouldn't have been appointed. They would have thrown money at a name on an initial deal until the end of the season with big bonuses attached. He was given that length of contract because the club fully believe that we will still be a championship club next season and he will work under the conditions set by them like having minimal say in recruitment -

No iv seen nothing. Iv not even said he will turn things round or is the right man for the job My point is 4 games in is too early to be completely writing him off, and using language like donkey, his fault we won't make the playoff. Yes man etc etc is ridiculous at this point, the same people where saying the same things about Eustace when he had no win in ten Again the team has struggled picking up expected wins against teams below us every season, just our record away v newly promoted clubs in the last few seasons can be used as proof of that. Even under Eustace this season Hull and Stoke both towards the bottom lost them both at home. -
Where did he say this mate?

?.Eustace hadn't gone anywhere when Woodrow was brought In.The Derby job wasn't even available. Ismael didn't want Dennis when he was at Watford -

Again yeah the 4 games have been disappointing majorly but it's 4 games he has been here...Eustace was Eusless by many at the same point in his rovers career. Ismael is pathetic and absolutely useless because we couldn't win at Derby not taking into consideration we have lost our last 11 away games against newly promoted sides. The graph clearly shows we have had more than 1 or 2 runs where we have lost multiple games In a row. -
£1 million very good money for Brittain?

islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Look at that graph in the 7 games prior to the 6 game winning run 5 defeats 1 win 2 draw, we then don't win in 5 3 defeats and 2 draws ,then win a game then 3 defeats in a row, the squad on multiple occasions thus season have gone runs of games losing .It is not something new created by Ismael. It can't be said for certain we would have won any of those last 3 games under another manager or the previous one -

Look at the post from Booth below lots of mini winless runs ,the 6 match winning run is what put us in the top 6 and the teams closest to us had poor form themselves hence us staying in it for as long as we did. We struggled against teams lower than us that we feel we should be winning with other managers aswell. -

I can't argue he has looked clueless but I do think there is a major mentality problem (losing i believe the last 11 away games agsinst newly promoted sides is shocking)with our squad which can be partly blamed on lack of clarity from above and so many players only contracted short term which happens every season and the budget we are playing with we shouldn't be up there .Plus look at some of the players after Derby smiles and practically kisses with Eustace he didn't come into easy environment. Stupid contract we have given him but that isn't his fault My argument isn't that Ismael is better than Eustace or he was the right appointment just 4 games is to early for me to be labelling someone a donkey or closing my mind to the possibility that he can get the team playing better. Not saying you but I do remember others saying pretty damning things about Eustace aswell at first He needs to use the international break well on the training pitch ,hopefully our players won't cry if he asks them to come in on 1 of their expected days off -

Yeah and now Batth isn't available who is just as important as those 2.Our other 2 centre backs looks half the players without him in there This happens every season.Even the last 3 games...we haven't won away in 11 matches against newly promoted sides,Struggles at home v Stoke and Hull City struggling at the bottom under Eustace, hammered off Swansea under Lowe. Our team coming up short in important games is not new I'm not saying ismael is the answer or was the right appointment I don't think he was but The things people are saying now where being said about Eustace last season....Eusless ...yes man...doesn't have a clue.He has had 4 games and results had taken a downturn previous to his appointment -

4 wins in 12 before ismael came in.Results had taken a downturn. Fact. Add to that Defence looks a lot poorer without Batth. -

islander200 replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Iv been dissapointed with Ismael so far But be fair a little bit here results had gone down well before he came, after the 6 match winning run results took a downturn, zero points in the last 3 games is clearly not good enough but there has been a lot of individual errors Pears and Hyam being the main culprits.Ismael wasn't coming into a squad brimming with confidence despite our position in the table. The 6 match winning run is what put ys in playoff contention and the closest teams around us at the time showed poor form which led to us staying in the top 6 for so long. Batth,Beck ,Brittain all part of that defence all missing Saturday. Batth is proving a huge miss Ridiculous to give him the length of contract we did and we should have been way more ambitious, il give him the next couple of weeks to work on things and hopefully key men Batth and Beck will be back . -

islander200 replied to simongarnerisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm not impressed either but Batth is a huge miss from the defence. Our better defensive displays came with Brittain ,Batth Hyam and Beck.Only one of those is playing today. -
He has been called up to the under 21s so presumably Tuchel just hasn't picked him rather than listening to Crystal Palace request
-
Glasner asked for him not to be called up when it was put to him after they played Aston Villa.Said he will get many caps for England, but on this occasion hoped sense would prevail and he would be left out of this on as still building his fitness up
-

islander200 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He looked scared in the games he has started, but fair enough he hasn't had much of an opportunity If Eustace was still here I don't believe he would have put him out of the team for Toth to come in , if Pears had made the same mistakes as he has done under Ismael and v Swansea Blame should be put at the feet of the person/people who decided to sign Toth. -
v Stoke City (a) - 12/3/2025, k/o 20.00
islander200 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Things haven't been working well before Ismael came in,look at our points return. Not convinced 3 at the back is the answer ,and I'm really disappointed In the 11 he has picked but let's not pretend results were good before Ismael came in.What was it 2 wins in the last 12 for Eustace, then won a couple under Lowe before being turned over by Swansea -
v Stoke City (a) - 12/3/2025, k/o 20.00
islander200 replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Ohashi or Dennis should be starting. Presumably the reason for Tronstad not starting is due to only being back from injury, any other reason then Ismael needs his head testing . Poor line up and no confidence we will get anything, I hope I'm proved wrong Toth must be terrible if he cant get a look in after Pears woeful form last few weeks -

No but his body language is saying the same. Plus his best season at Championship level came under Ismael. Player has a bad game...it must mean he doesn't like the new manager -

I suggest you watch this Quite clear Brittain wasn't dissapointed with Ismaels appointment. No doubt il get a reply saying "what's he supposed to say". Brittain is speaking truthfully in this interview -

They sacked him when they were 5th ,8 points off 2nd in February. They finished the season 10th and many more points than 8 behind 2nd. Coberan who they loved didn't get them promoted either after Bruce. -

They ain't achievements. But people are saying things like "Ismaels awful record " and "did shit in his other jobs" .Results in all his jobs over here and at Besiktas were not awful.Im not assed about style of play.Judging him on results alone at his last 4 jobs, it isn't an awful record -
During the run from December to when he was sold Wharton was a shining light?I disagree our midfield was being overrun. He had played well but not outstanding up to that,he always had that class but it wasn't like he was dominating games regularly We will have to agree to disagree, I have said we might have got a few million more but not the 5 or 10 million some are making out.And the outrage that he is now being linked with £70 million moves when it's him proving himself in the prem that has him being strongly linked with big clubs
