  1. Hope he is ok for Saturday, we need all the options available.
  2. Usual issue, we just don’t have the pace within the offensive unit.
  3. Definitely our best chance of getting anything but I fear that today we will be well beaten, probably 3 0. I hope and pray that I am wrong.
  4. Actually, the season Burnley avoided the drop was 86/87 and they again averaged just over 3,000 for the season, including the bumper last day crowd against Leyton Orient. Rovers average was nearly 7,000 that season and I remember travelling back from our last match of the season at Boundary Park, Oldham and seeing Dingles everywhere. Your right though, it was a tough time for football, especially northern mill town clubs but it was a time that I really enjoyed following Rovers.
  5. For context, same season Burnley averaged 3,204 and ‘big’ clubs like Leeds 13,000, Derby, 12,000, Leicester 11,000 and Sheffield United 10,000, Palace and Boro, 6,000.
  6. Yep, Undav would have shot us into the play offs and potentially, back to the promised land.
  7. Parson is referring to pre 80’s, whilst you are referencing the 80’s, both are valid historical points.
  8. I’m not sure he has played much, if at all, since October as has had surgery.
  9. Just checked this one and crowd was bigger than I recalled, albeit there was a good Rovers contingent amongst the 20,000 crowd.
  10. I earned my spurs in the 80’s, yes the crowds were smaller, across all clubs, but it all felt a lot more passionate. I can remember going up to the Toon to watch Rovers, in front of a crowd of about 11/12,000 either though they will swear blind they have always had 10,000 locked out every game !
  11. We averaged around 9/10,000 for the 1980’s period. I am pretty sure during that period, that lot had some seasons with 3,000 on.
  12. I’m not sure that we ever got anywhere near that low in respect of league matches, now if you were talking about that lot down the road………….
  13. Where is Mercer ? Not seen him post for a while to predict a 5 0 Rovers win, claim his winnings and celebrate with a fine red wine / champagne. Hope you ok, fella ?
  14. I would also be happy with 3 points from the two tough fixtures but only if the win comes on January 4th.
  15. The 15 minutes on Sky is far more representative of the match, strangely didn’t show the Beck chance but everything else captured. No idea how Cantwell missed, he was coming on to the ball and could have put in anywhere, very poor.
  16. I’m not too worried about the Leeds match as unfortunately, I just can’t see past a comfortable home win. I know we have beaten them the last two matches and Eustace has a great head to head record against Farke but lightening not likely to strike for a third consecutive time. The opportunity to put points on the board was yesterday and woeful finishing cost us but I just hope that we have our shooting boots on come January 4th 🙏
  17. Hopefully Admiral Nelsen has given him the word.
  18. He’s not really shone to date and his finishing has been extremely poor, not a patch on the above two.
  19. I realise it is unfair to judge Buckley on the extremely limited playing time that he is getting but, he just looks beyond poor and far from a player previously touted as a potential £10m player in the making. He looks to have only a single gear, dead slow, and whatever the match, he never seems up for it and is always looking for the easy option. I feel for him a bit but he currently looks out of his depth in the Championship and good job for him, he signed a lucrative 5 year deal as I don’t think there would be many takers at this level.
  20. I think he provides an option late on in games when we need to go a bit more direct and get it into the mixer. His substitution today meant that we had no direct option when chasing the game, in contrast to the Sunderland game where his presence allowed Harry L the chance to level at the death. Playing him from the off, up front and without a strike partner to work on any chaos or balls won, just isn’t going to work.
  21. Really disappointing today, the performance was worryingly lacklustre as was the atmosphere within the ground. Both will need to improve significantly if we are to play our respective parts to vanquish the great unwashed on the 4th January. Despite being poor and Hull claiming the sort of victory that we had been pulling off during our recent winning run, we had 4 or 5 gilt edged chances and should have taken the 3 points. The Dolan miss against Sunderland and those from Cantwell and Beck’s today were really poor and without a natural goal scorer, spurning such chances will see us dropping away from play off contention. Eustace is getting everything from this squad but we desperately need some quality offensive reinforcements brought in during this window.
