I think he got rewarded again with a new contract on promotion last season. If I remember correctly, our reported interest was in summer 2023 when it looked like he was definitely going and it was a surprise when it was announced that he had signed another contract.

We were heavily linked with him before he signed his new contract and then played a key part in their promotion. Would have been a good, well priced buy.

Yep, we need to keep it in perspective as we are somehow still sitting in play off place and even the most optimistic, even Chaddy, wouldn’t have foreseen that. I hope Eustace sticks with us and that they eventually back him, although already 3 weeks late ! It would be more than foolish to lose two good, young, ambitious and aspirational managers that could have delivered a play off place.

I would love Rovers to get to the new Wembley, a real pity that we couldn’t hang on at the Blunts in JDT’s first season. However, we must focus everything on maintaining a play off challenge during the second half of the season and on that basis, I would be looking to rest as many as we can and let some of the young lads step up from the U21’s.

Wouldn’t be totally against Kent but he has played 8 games in 18 months and left his last club 10/12 weeks ago. My worry would be that he won’t be ‘oven ready’ and good to go straight in to tough Championship fixtures and that’s what we really need.

Really gutted today. Thought we competed well without ever really being an offensive threat and they take the points with a single chance and the only bit of quality within the 90 minutes. We deserved a point and Baker came closest, with the header and the comer kick scramble, when he should have got something extra on Batth’s back heel, which somehow ended up in Trafford’s arms. I wasn’t impressed with the Dingles at all but of course, they did what they needed to and left again, with the spoils. Eustace continues to get everything out of a poor squad and deserves to be backed by the club and our fan base. If they don’t bring in 2 / 3 decent players and very quickly, I wouldn’t blame him if, like JDT, he decides he’s had enough. I genuinely hope that it doesn’t come to that and he is given a proper chance to take us into the play offs.

Not disagreeing with your take on the match but Gueye was certainly making a run for the pass, when Cantwell passed it straight to the Dingle. Cantwell was awful today, so slow on the ball and turned it over on numerous occasions, he’s not looking like the quality player that I had hoped, he would.

I think your wrong on that point, IMO Beck and Brittain are the only two at the club that have a turn of pace.

You could also add in Beck to Tronstad and ACD, all three had the opportunity to get the ball upfield from the left back / half position. The fact that none took the responsibility meant that we lost the ball, which was then recycled, leading to the cross / cross / headed goal.
