  1. Interesting perspective. Have you seen much of him? For me, he’s a little over enthusiastic and can dive in a bit but he gets up and down and isn’t afraid to put a tackle in. Bit harsh imo to say all he has is a great engine.
  2. Why does it matter? Do we need to sign a ‘proper’ right back or not? Or should we plan to have utility players who can play in a few positions? I prefer defenders to be defenders and be drilled and form an understanding with their fellow defenders but it’s not use people saying that Travis can play there (which, of course he can as that’s his position) when Mowbray doesn’t trust him there and would rather play Bennett - a big player in midfield there. Seems daft not to just go and buy a right back - or simply play Travis is the position where he played very successfully season - barring a game at Ewood (which we lost!).
  3. Brilliant. Phil Jones being your “proof”. He was a defender and is still a defender! And no need to lie about the U23 games you’ve watched.
  4. It’s like talking to an 8 year old. No, that’s unfair of me. Apologies to any 8 year olds reading. Travis is a defender. Fact! Mowbray has played one of the club’s defenders in midfield. Fact! (And somewhat ironically playing a midfielder in defence, and a full back in the middle, and another full back on the wing!) You can throw a fish in the air - doesn’t make it a bird. Fact! Out of interest, how did we get on in that one U23 game you refer to that Johnson played his best full back out of position?
  5. I won’t be able to answer it simple enough for you Chaddy. Do yourself a favour go and watch the U23s. Or if you don’t have time or can’t get there then stop talking like an expert.
  6. It’s pointless me or anyone else keep telling you that Travis is a right back because you will continue to believe what you want to believe. Just do yourself, and everyone else, a favour and stop acting so arrogantly when you are talking crap, it makes you look even more foolish. And let me save you the bother: “yet again more insults from you Stuart stop talking down to me yet again” Just remember (“yet again”) that you bring it on yourself.
  7. Mods: can this thread be re-titled “Scottish Football Appreciation” and a proper transfer thread be started?
  8. “Mowbray added: “There are some Under-23s who I feel can push really hard to become a first-team player this year, but I feel that to compete in the top half of the Championship and to give us a realistic chance then I think we need to bring in some players that can help us compete at that level.” Talk about a mixed message.
  9. We had better players than Lowe in our squad this season. At least the top 24 or so, anyway. They all had to go to L1 to get a game. No way should Lowe be anywhere near a Championship side. If he can drop his wages demands, Blackpool makes the most sense. Or Blackburn Harriers.
  10. Also even more kudos to Shrewsbury. Doubt it’s true though, we’d need to have some extremely low paid players to offset our few higher earners.
  11. ? Sympathetic towards Venkys, eh? Regain our Championship status? They didn’t buy a Championship club you oaf.
  12. Can’t believe people are actively suggesting that Bennett is adequate cover at right back! Why would we choose to dilute our midfield capabilities when we should be able to bring in a proper defender during the window?! Mowbray has proven to us that Caddis isn’t up to it (even in L1) and he doesn’t fancy Travis playing there. We really have a problem of our own making - I’d prefer this was dealt with properly through recruitment.
  13. It wasn’t true, it was your opinion. His reply to your insult was an insult? Shocked.
  14. You don’t like it when people do this to you so why do you think it’s ok for you to post like this?
  15. Disingenuous post. He wasn’t “captain for years” was understudy as captain for part of a season.
  16. Unless they pay him off I just can’t see him going anywhere. Nobody wanted him on a free from us, we’d be daft to want him back. He doesn’t really fit the mould of the kind of team I see Mowbray wanting to build. Unless as a first replacement for Evans but I’d sooner have Evans.
  17. Can’t decide if I’m impressed with Mowbray or disappointed. He clearly wants to be here and will seemingly work with peanuts if that’s all they give him but I’m not sure I’d have come out with these comments as it means they don’t have to spend. Unless he is being extremely canny, Machiavellian even, and it’s all part of a “trust me” campaign so that when he goes with List A and some promises he is more likely to be believed. I personally would believe him anyway. For me, List A has to therefore be sold on the back of “it’s going to be tough but I believe that with these recruits we can reach the play-offs”. As opposed to List B which means “midtable security and consolidation” and List C “this is the minimum to give us a chance of staying up - no fees but need to increase the wage budget”. If List C has anything to do with keeping the same current wage bill just with freebies and he is having to put off a budget reduction (heaven forbid) then we really are in trouble. This must be below what Mowbray would consider acceptable to continue as manager.
  18. It’s a joke how many gigs some managers keep getting.
  19. They’ll just sit together anyway. Or rather stand together.
