  1. It’s only an increase to the most loyal of loyal Rovers fans. Those who had no hesitation in renewing after relegation. I actually think they deserve better after the last few years. But of a kick in the nuts. Of course, Waggot, like Hunt, Shaw, Cheston,Senior before him he will simply claim “Mia culpa but I can’t be held responsible for the mistakes of my predecessors. We can’t ppl backward we can only look forward”. That’s all well and good Steve but we’ve been here many many times and been asked to buy in to the vision of each of them. What is the vision for this new era of higher ticket prices? Are we going to see better players?
  2. Seems that away fans are now driving policy so it’ll be whatever Leeds fans normally pay...
  3. Is this another one of these Masonic things like the secret 20 year celebration only for people who know people?
  4. Really sad to read comments like this. The exact same view (more or less), behind the goal, the place where atmospheres are generated in every ground and yet there seems to be a real hatred between the two sets of fans. Thanks a Fkg bunch Venkys. ?
  5. I do think that closing the DE is the right thing to do. Even though I know people that this will upset. Getting the BBE full and singing together has to be a good thing. It will also make it easier to milk the larger Championship clubs as others have said. I wasn’t expecting a price reduction but I think the club need to carefully consider their plan of significantly increasing the price by stealth every year. It’s a clever marketing trick calling it an early bird offer when you are really asking people to pay at last season’s price hike rate to avoid this year’s price hike for one season. “Too late and you’ll pay next year’s early bird price today”. There will be a limit to what people will pay so this needs to be monitored. Next season is going to be really tough compared to this year so much may depend on the calibre of Summer signings. Without a marquee (or at least notably positive signing) we may well top out at 11-12 ST holders. A marginal increase on this season. But then if we win the League tomorrow and are presented with the trophy tomorrow... (Who am I kidding, nobody cares about that).
  6. Worryingly, the signing that we’ve usually been “excited” about have been the worst and the ones we’ve “meh” about have been the better ones. Jordan Rhodes and Danny Graham being the obvious exceptions.
  7. It’s a good argument for continuity if you think about it, and hopefully the importance of Waggott. And probably why Bowyer was seen by some as a success. I’m utterly convinced that Venkys manage their business by quarterly meetings. If we aren’t fully prepared for these meetings then we have to wait until the next one. Season ticket prices, shirt sales, budgets, transfer targets, etc all need to be signed off by the family. It’s vital that Waggott and Mowbray get a budget from them and are given a mandate to use it as they see fit. Hopefully Mowbray has earned their trust with promotion at the first attempt, having allowed him to spend a relatively small amount last season. But there really should have been two sets of season ticket pricing strategies deployed. A league one and a championship. As soon as one was known, get them on sale.
  8. Successful teams are built on the backs of players like Conway, Downing, Bennett, Smallwood, and even Antonsson. Proper professionals who will work hard in training and step up when called on. They provide the ‘labore’ foundation on which to build the ‘arte’.
  9. Sunderland are a far bigger club than Ipswich. Depends on Shrewsbury I guess. If they get promoted he would be better staying. Knows the club and can push on. If they don’t then he’d be better with Sunderland - big club and he knows the league. Parachute payments spent wisely would give them a huge advantage and his personal terms could be very much improved. Can’t see a huge gain at Ipswich. No money, high expectation and no experience of the Championship. Big gamble without great prospects.
  10. If Sunderland have any sense they’ll go all out for Paul Hurst.
  11. If Mowbray can’t make Madame fall in love with football then nobody can. (My money’s on nobody).
  12. It really wasn’t worth the 15 minutes you spent thinking all that up.
  13. That bloke lost his scoops when Kean left. I could write “a bit in the paper” saying Rovers don’t have much money to spend. Venkys meanwhile have millions.
  14. I always look pretty good in those mirrors. oh wait...!
  15. If only the EFL had timed the final game to fit in with one of Venkys rigid quarterly board meetings. Maybe next time.
  16. Floor to ceiling bathroom mirror...?
  17. Wow, time flies! ? I don’t blame Conor for going following how he was treated after Lambert was replaced with Coyle.
  18. League One teams and players are far inferior to the likes of Mulgrew. Individual class has been the difference in most games.
  19. I guess you didn’t see Charlie hopping and then sat down holding his knee just before he was taken off in the last game. Trust me, I hope you are right. It’s a gamble though.
  20. So £60k-plus per week for influence? If they stay fit I’d certainly want Mulgrew and Graham. It’s a gamble though. The Championship is a hard hard season.
