  1. Away! We only sing away... We only sing away...
  2. Well, “Walshy” certainly isn’t! Although we still have our fair share of Walshys - even now. Nice thread though, classy.
  3. Lucky bastards. Promotion and then this. A sale brought about for reasons that we have no hope of replicating. This news makes me feel real sorrow and a gnawing pang of self-pity in the pit of my stomach. A potential ally will now become another group to pour scorn on us, and suddenly remember how much they hate Rovers and Rovers fans. There is no such thing as a ‘football fan’ really. Each club’s fanbase is on their own. I hate you Venkys. I wish you nothing but misery for as many years as you inflict misery on us. Double.
  4. I agree about the enjoyment of matches, and also about the first team being about results. Usually, the enjoyment of first team football comes from results. The excitement of needing the win and scoring the goals to get it. Right now Mowbray is very much hit and miss on results and very much miss on excitement. Don’t agree that we are in the hunt for automatic promotion though. There is a lot of work to do before we can consider ourselves in the hunt and - much to the frustration of the ‘get real’ apologists - we now need to increase our rate of return on points and very likely win games that some would call difficult.
  5. Someone’s on the wind up. Yes, great idea. We need to tap into the local dog walking community. That’s where future revenue is going to come from. Where Venkys are taking us you won’t be able to move for dog walkers anyway.
  6. Well, you can only watch one at once. How much do you think somebody should pay for that flexibility? £110 x 48 clubs is over £5k!
  7. Look at it this way... 83 minutes on the clock, and it’s 1-1 Against the worst team in this division. You really don’t see an option in there?
  8. Don't really disagree with you. The difference is that I don't think my expectations have lowered. I think their talent profile has been raised. If it's them or a proven Championship manager or successful League One manager then they would probably be second choice just now but it's a definite second and not last resort.
  9. Well, tbf, they've got the U23s winning and playing some really good football against their counterparts from other clubs (at a higher level). All managers start somewhere. Our problem has been less about giving new managers a chance and more about giving failing managers too long.
  10. Brilliant tonight. Really enjoyable evening. 4-0 in the end and a missed penalty right at the end. - Callum Wright with a screamer into the top corner - A brave Nuttall finish which resulted in him being withdrawn (precautionary I heard in the stand) - Lovely flicked finish on the end of a right wing cross from Rankin-Costello - Well taken goal from Wright to wrap up the goals - Should have been 5-0 with the penalty miss at the end, from R-C I think. Time for some of these lads to be in and around the first team. Stefan Mols looked excellent, as did John Buckley. But just a really good team that Johnson and Dunn are fashioning. Maybe it's more about their CV than the players'. Wonder if any League One or Two teams might make an offer to Johnson if this keeps up... Hard lines to Fulham's number 10 Isaac Pearce. Looked about 12 years old from where we were sat but was very nippy. Made a reckless and needless challenge on Fisher midway through the first half, and came off much the worse - metaphorically and literally. Must have been a broken leg and possibly fainted. Spent a good 10 minutes flat out on the deck before being stretchered off.
  11. A striker should never be ducking a penalty. It's an opportunity to score a gimme goal. Wasn't that Alan Shearer's mantra? It's a real shame what has happened to him. A cheeky loan bid in January to help get him back on track would be a plan. Particularly as Graham has proven to not be the 'head and shoulders above' League One striker that most would have expected.
  12. Doesn't surprise me. He is the only recognisable face of the media team. There is certainly a prevalence these days for asking people to take on more and more with less and less help.
  13. Penny pinching disguised as cost cutting. Wonder what contribution of the £3 goes towards paying back our TWO auditors fees?
  14. I just think it's great that North End will never be as successful as Rovers. Despite being a 'city' club.
  15. Billy Beane's Barnsley Baseball Bonanza And Venkys still wouldn't sell.
  16. Now, now. We all know Rhodes had NOTHING else to his game apart from tap-ins.
  17. Ref spoiled a decent game tonight. All Rovers without a killer bite. Nuttall very quiet indeed. Some very reckless challenges from Boro, including an elbow to the head and the throw of a fist (while going for the ball). A 50/50 head clash totally messed with the referee's mojo and he then started to clamp down - but only on the slightest challenge by Rovers. A petulant rather than violent kick out at the end - after we won a free kick and the ref couldn't get his card out fast enough. Probably a yellow, never a red. Boro got a mis-hit/sliced shot which just squeeezed in of the angle and a sublime chip, before rounding off a solo effort dribbling in from the byline but apart from that they had 9 men behind the ball to frustrate us. Their game plan worked but what a dirty bunch of gits. Rovers bossed the game from start to finish but couldn't break through in the box and the few times they did couldn't finish. Disappointing night but that ref needs to be driven out of town.
  18. I expect you get lost more often that Lowe does on the pitch.
  19. It is indeed sickeningly ironic. We are now playing in a lower league thanks to Lowe because Coyle played our football through him. He defined our style under Bowyer and then Coyle. When he was out injured we actually played attacking football. Just look at how we are playing now in terms of style of play. Yes, we are in L1 but we would not have been playing like this if Lowe had still had another year on his contract and still been in our first team. Nobody wanted to take him off our hands while he was here and we didn't want to renew his contract. He only got a new club because he was without one. He is not a Championship quality player. It is another symptom of how broken football is that he gets a gig there. A good agent? A pay cut? And another manager seduced by the size of his... engine? I think so.
  20. The number of times you pulled me up about Lowe. Amazing how you see the light as soon as they stop wearing the shirt.
  21. That 'rash tackle' is Lowe's trademark [second touch].
