That £50 will be like One-Eyed Willy's treasure.

Watching Hartlepool slip out of the league did make me wonder just how easily that could be us with a couple more years of Venkys ownership. Founder members and winners completely wiped out by Venkys incompetence/neglect. Not selling but not doing the right things either. How far do we have to fall before "there's nothing we can do" becomes "we have to do something"?

Dreading this month from a football perspective. If Mowbray walks then we will be almost certainly led by Dunn next season as cost cutting will dictate. Might be worth a few quid on Huddersfield, Fleetwood and Blackpool to win their respective play-offs just to take the @#/? even more after this @#/? season.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/15270535.Rovers_boss_Tony_Mowbray_plans_Venky__39_s_meeting_to_discuss_his_future_following_relegation/ “I will have some talks in the next week or two with the people who matter at this football club,” Mowbray said. “Whether the journey for me continues or not. Let’s see. If it does, I can only see if being really strong if we can keep the right players. “We will see how the summer goes.” When asked if he would walk away from Ewood Park should he not receive the right assurances from Venky's Mowbray added: “That’s headline I don’t want to see or talk about. “What’s important is that I sit down and have discussions in the next week or two with them and hopefully they’re positive."

Lambert was vilified for doing similar. Although I suspect you are right.

Anyone seen Mowbray's post match interview? Rumour that he will consider his future?
-
I don't blame Mowbray. He tried but in the end it was fine margins and he couldn't turn it around. I have to go back to when he was first appointed though and say that this was my big worry - that he wouldn't be what we need. To be fair, he exceeded my expectations and although he might have done better and just finished above Burton. That equaliser by them kept them up at our expense for instance. We deserve to go down for all the reasons we all know about. Thay expression in bold though, I wouldn't use that again. One, we almost certainly wouldn't and, two, I'm fairly sure Kean used the exact same excuse.
-
Huh? You realise we went down on goal difference, right? You understand context, right? The Preston result in particular was devastating. Mowbray could have saved us, despite needing snookers - maybe should have. By the same token, Zola should have relegated Birmingham but Redknapp saved them in three games.
-
Let's not do this today.
-
If you don't understand it, don't respond. Leave it to those who do. Thinly veiled? Don't blame me if you were one of those who thought Coyle deserved a chance - despite his obviously @#/? record - just because a ball hadn't been kicked.
-
Very much so. Hope somebody wipes floor with Huddersfield. The though of that smug "who me?" Wagner sat on the away dugout at some of the top PL grounds makes me sick.
-
Oh just shut the F up for once! I'm trying to rationalise what just happened and you've just spent 2-3 minutes trying to counter every point in some kind of one-up-manship. Now is not the time.

Although I do like the bloke and would support him next season, I couldn't help but picture an older version of Bowyer as he was helplessly clapping towards the end. In the end he could do nothing about Ipswich rolling over and Bristol playing keep ball but not bothering trying to score. We lost it against Burton, Preston and Barnsley. Yes, what has happened with Birmingham stinks but ultimately trying to win by one goal has failed more often that it's worked. Venkys relegated us when they had a choice to make and they (or their advisors) chose Coyle. The #coyleout campaign was blasted last June by the "Give him a chance FFS" brigade but they are vindicated today. Not that it makes anyone feel better to say I told you so.

Yes, he's mhead.

Not having a go, and I imagine it's a damned if you do/don't situation, but if a last gap win makes the news less relevant then I'd question its relevance at all. Is our overall situation likely to improve if we stay up? If not and the story is for the greater good then surely it's publish or be damned. Hope this isn't the next 'dossier'...

Why will the LT only print your Big Features if we lose? Surely it's just as important even if we win?

It's about time, instead of cracking down on this kind of thing the big companies accepted there is a market and give the consumer what they want: reasonable priced, quality content on a rental basis. Just look at Napster. It was illegal and then in became legitimate and created a competitive market for music streaming: Spotify, Deezer, even Apple Music (eventually caught up). Same thing required for the latest movies and for sport. There is a market. If you remove and prosecute it will drive another market with another loophole. It would be interesting to see some stats but I expect illegal music downloading - a scourge only a few years ago - will be all but gone, because you can have a quality service relatively cheaply. The video shop was killed off and the cinema experience is dead. It's hugely overpriced and has become an event in itself to go out as a family. The only time it's full is when you get the latest mega blockbuster in IMAX and that's for about a week. There IS a market for watching 3pm football - particularly for away punters. It would force clubs to implement to 20's plenty pricing and supplement through streaming revenue. Maybe it's something you could opt in to as part of a season ticket deal that you can watch your club's away games. I honestly think it would complement the matchday experience as fans will still travel. Just look at the away following on Sunday for a televised game. When you look at some of the (pitiful) away followings at Ewood this season, we would probably make more money through your average Brentford fan logging in and paying a fiver than charging £20 for the fee that turn up.

Legally?

What I don't like is that overseas fans get to watch matches for price, yet there isn't any equal product available for the domestic customer. I would be happy to pay to watch away matches online for £50 a season but don't even get the option. Even if I'm prepared to pay!! I can't get to away games due to other commitments. But as a UK resident I frequently can't access overseas content - so it doesn't even work both ways. The fact I can't even listen to a live free radio broadcasts of Rovers matches on Radio Lancashire over the Internet (I don't own a radio) just shows how @#/? we are as a country at this sort of thing. Greed to the point of removing access to something that's already free. It's like boxing. We've gone back to the 'olden days' were coverage for the average punter is still photographs of the bout.
-
It's not 'viable' if they aren't trying to compete in the fixture. I think I'm going to have to agree to disagree with you - and a few others. But there can be no argument about the breach of the rules. It's just a shame that the only beneficiaries of this mess - including the applied remedies - is Birmingham and Harry Bloody Redknapp.
-
Given what happened last weekend, don't you think that it's highly plausible that Huddersfield played a weakened side against City in the cup knowing they were very unlikely to win and the priority was the league? Using City is a bad example. Number of games each have played in the league would tell the real tale.
-
It honestly seems like some want Rovers to go down. Not sure if it's to justify not going, to add to list of reasons to hate Venkys or simple masochism.
-
What has the Premier League got to do with anything?
-
With an odd player here and there it can easily be described as tactical. Maybe Mulgrew isn't the best against a pacey striker? Stop trying to defend TEN changes. It's not right, it's not reasonable and it's outlawed. Four or five changes would be considered reasonable by any fan. Ten is outrageous. Redknapp has done them up like a kipper. Now that they are looking like being fined he will play a much stronger side in his last game right before the first play-off game, making a mockery of his 'strategy'. Genuinely hope they miss out.

Agree completely. There are 5 or 6 crap teams in this division. All for different reasons. Relegation can come down to fine margins. I still have a great dislike for Tevez, Mascherano and West Ham for what they did and the impact it had on Sheffield United all those years ago. West Ham were rewarded for cheating and Sheffield United just expected to accept they hadn't been good enough. In reality fine margins, and borderline cheating cost one and benefitted the other.
