  1. The second option is a good and very noble idea, and you would potentially be able to get candidates from lots of different towns and cities. It would require individual protest groups or Trusts to buy into the idea - and to use their (presumably) meagre budgets. As an ambition though it would have to ultimately be to get a single MP. To do this you would need to have somebody in a specially chosen constituency who has more about them than just the football reform line (which is kind of counter intuitive). They would therefore need to be an experienced campaigner or councillor or maybe even an existing "out of work" Independent. Without this as an ambition it will simply be a newspaper talking point for the first time it happens and then would disappear forever into the chip shop wrapping. The trouble is that football fans are very fickle. A few years ago the Spirit of Shankly group would have been real contenders if a Merseyside town. As it is I expect they are much happier. The real disgruntled fans are now the former PL North West clubs who nobody gives two stuffs about. If it's just about poking the establishment in the eye and trying to put pressure on a local MP to fight our corner then I'd be inclined to go with option 1. We won't get any non-Blackburn support but we would have much lower ambitions anyway. A permanent fly in Madame's ointment. An interesting thought you've sparked though. It's a shame that the make up of government is formed from representatives of the mini-majorities of arbitrary (of historic) geographic locations. If there was a version of proportional representation and (in today's social media age) no requirement for ties to a specific location then we might get a different kind of MP. Groups who represent interests and ideals could garner votes from all over the UK and make it more about the cause and less about local 'personalities'.
  2. Now, now, Biz (who liked the post). You can't have it both ways.
  3. Wanted to dismiss this as a slow day rumour, or a clever smoke screen that has been put out there solely to allow the club to dismiss it and make it look like good news, but Myers tweeting anything Judan Ali related will always be seen as Rovers related. Pretty sure he won't be heading to Everton. It's the link that has never gone away.
  4. Anyone else think that referees have been told to create a controversial moment by allowing something like this? Just the kind of thing to get people talking about a competition that, with the best will in the world, will be largely ignored.
  5. You might want to edit this post. His mate was found not guilty.
  6. Granted but I've never had a problem with the idea of paying my way in life. Stunts like the one the EFL are pulling here create piracy and they are too arrogant to see it. There are no competitors anymore, despite the pretence. It's all about exclusives so people have to pay the going rate to one provider or find a loophole to avoid paying at at all.
  7. This thread is proof that there is a market for UK customers and the EFL should stop being so stuck in the past about the televised 3pm fixtures. I cannot get to away games. I would buy a subscription to watch our away games. But because I live in rip off Britain I'm discriminated against.
  8. Like I said, he's an idiot. Rule 101 in football is don't slag off managers, other players and other clubs - you never know when you might need them. Funny though that you defend his right to post what he wants on social media (even to the detriment of our club) and then tell me to give it a rest when I post to detriment of Little Pecker!
  9. You really aren't here to meet new friends are you? "Unnatural ascension" indeed. Learn your history.
  10. He wasn't thick because he is a footballer and even if he thinks it privately he should not be posting in the public domain that he is hoping for bad things for other clubs. Y'know just in case he ends up signing for them. Oh look. He has created a legitimate case to make himself an enemy of Rovers fans. He is now under more pressure than he was to perform. Let's hope that spurs him on a bit. Personally, I've already gone off the guy. Let's just hope he can play football and then nobody will care. But it's quite the opposite of your fan-blaming post.
  11. Yes. 'The mob' probably hacked his account too. Footballers being thick is hardly news but there's no need to get so defensive.
  12. We are signing a player better than the division we are in - and it's not a loan. Last time we did that was probably Graham.
  13. Tell you what is over the top. That announcement video on Facebook with slow motion head turning segues. Jeez. Cheesiness aside, this should be a good signing but then so should Murphy, Etuhu and Best. Seems the right kind of player for us though and a good age. Adds massive experience to the side. Let's hope there aren't any underlying fitness concerns and Cardiff have made a similar mistake to us letting Dave Jones go (albeit on a different scale). Third bit of good tentatively positive news after Mowbray signed and brought in his own assistant. Maybe this will help the Like of Lenihan, Mulgrew and even Evans knuckle down but they could still be sold for wages.
  14. Until this season of I'd been to a concert at the City Ground I'd have had no clue about Marinakis. Football fans' problems tend to be very parochial. [Nods over at Vinjay]
  15. The whole night was brilliant. Good seeing the Fernhurst packed to the rafters. Agree about the external perimeter making it much more relaxed. Some things don't change though. Walking out at the end Andrew Evans was hot-footing it out of the stadium!
  16. Ah crap. I knew those tickets in the Riverside I got off eBay were too good a bargain.
  17. Sad news. You have to wonder what these players are doing to their bodies to have heart attacks at such a young age.
  18. Talk about depressing guys! The academy is the only thing the Raos seem to care about so it's the only thing getting any real attention. If they have any designs on making money out of it long term then they need to join the dots with the first team success. Even the Oyston's have two promotions under their belt to go with their three relegations. The Raos only have failure to look back on.
