  1. We can’t all be as well schooled in the game as you, Joe. Lucky for us that Conway has the gift of eternal youth and his legs go forever. How long a deal should we have given him? In your expert opinion of course. 2 years? 5? A. You think only experienced players can defend/mark at corners? B. Conway isn’t catching his man. Certainly not an ex-PL winger. C. Don’t try to be clever. You can’t carry it off. Nice that you use an example of one set play as a reason to have Conway instead of someone like Chapman. No, not nice, desperate. 70 minutes from Conway in the Championship will be a big ask. I actually hope you are right and he can be a big player for us this season. But he didn’t really manage to be such an influence. last season, a year younger and a division lower. Be honest, he is here for his experience in the dressing room not 70 minute matches and () helping to avoid younger players not defend corners.
  2. The only people happy if we were playing Conway instead of (hopefully) Chapman... are playing for the opposition.
  3. Hope the 11th isn’t a home fixture but you can’t please everyone. However, I fully expect the club, with a completely straight face, to blame policing and for the police to blame resources. Something that isn’t a problem as soon as Sky decide to televise both at the same time. I just wish people would be honest rather than make stuff up. Seems they would sooner treat us like fools. I wonder how many games the average season ticket holder misses and how close the resulting ppg is compared to walk-on and special offers.
  4. Why didn’t he wait to announce going to Madrid until after the WC? Why didn’t Madrid?
  5. Was it ever really going to end any other way?
  6. Bit worrying that we’ve been sorting out Graham and Conway first. Let’s hope they aren’t “in no rush”. Not convinced about the loyalty of either player.
  7. Radio Rovers needs to be reinstated this season. And made available online. Now that would be an improvement.
  8. I think it might be you mate. If someone wants to they should be able to post ‘just a link’ in here as well as (or instead of) the links only thread. Then it can be discussed by others (which it can’t in the other thread). You are trying to force people to comment about a link they are sharing to stimulate debate. Who decides what is enough of a comment to accompany a link? If people who “only want to read links” (rather than discuss) miss something because it was only posted in here and not both then they should get off their metaphorical backsides and use google or Twitter and find their own links. It’s not our job to keep them informed and it’s just the good will of posters. Handing out bans for non-compliance to a made up rule in order to appease a silent minority is extremely harsh. And after all that you will find that someone will always stick a pertinent link on the ‘links only’ anyway.
  9. Fellas? One’s a lady and ones a... ladyboy, apparently.
  10. Just take away the hyphen and the last two words. Like. Every. Other. Season.
  11. Programmes have been produced for decades. They haven’t suddenly got more difficult to produce but they standards and content certainly have. As a result, and combined with far lower gates, sales are not what they once were. With Facebook and Twitter and their own club apps, I can’t see how the paper copy will survive. But that has been said about newspapers for at least 10 years. Shame really but I stopped buying them ages ago because there was little to nothing in there of interest.
  12. It was a rush job. At least that’s what Bolton’s head of recruitment said of the signing.
  13. I was saying exactly this to a bloke at work today. He has played lots of games because he has played lots of games, starting game after game when he should have been a squad player - at best - making late substitute appearances to kill a game, and all thanks to Gary Bowyer. That became self-fulfilling, with him then being the most experienced player at the club once all of the decent players were sold. Then on that same basis, Coyle made him captain and built the team around him. Guess what, we got relegated! His comments about making tackles is so disingenuous. He’s never been near a tackle. Unless of course he has a part time job...
  14. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2018/june/danny-signs-new-deal/ A decent sign of intent.
  15. Not quite the same as consultation though. You are meant to canvas and understand the fans’ perspective and wishes before making a decision. Not decide, enact and then consult. Waste of everyone’s time. They should have consulted fans about the DE closure, and family stand move before that. Of course, it’s their premises and they don’t have to. But they should. All of these things contribute to the loss of those 10k as fans feel disassociated from the hierarchy who they feel don’t have their best interests at heart.
  16. Didn’t seem to be a problem for John Barnes, Terry Butcher, Tony Dorigo, amongst others. Or, closer to home, even Rob Jones.
  17. Something always ‘changes’ with these stories. I don’t think I’ve ever read a hack say, “yeah, I got that one wrong”.
  18. What are they ‘consulting’ the fans about? All of the big decisions have already been made, haven’t they?
  19. I was thinking more ‘ah bless them with their fatigue issues’. Footballers have never had it so good.
  20. A dark day. We are heading towards monthly fanzines and, potentially, annual membership with monthly subscription (rather than season tickets).
