  1. Isn’t this Burnley’s home game? If so, as much as as it smacks of penny-pinching, Rovers can’t be blamed for this fiasco. Unless they are blocking an evening ko time...
  2. Far too early for that kind of statement. There is a contrasting view that Adarabioyo has been the reason for our improvement.
  3. @arbitro The fella doesn’t know exactly. Going off the car and the serviceman, late 1940s?
  4. Someone posted this on a non-football Fb group. I won’t name them for their privacy but this isn’t my photo. “Going down the Bolton Road...” Wondered if anyone else can add any detail or has similar photos?
  5. Think of ‘decent’ as an understatement for ‘bloody brilliant’.
  6. Or a similar sized stand just with the best safe-standing, disabled accommodation and media facilities in football. And possibly corporate-style services.
  7. The point is they couldn’t review every incident of cheating in every game, and in fact, the only ones anyone would mention for reviews would be televised ones. Cheating is an inherent part of football. It’s the reason for a yellow card for a ‘professional foul’. Legitimised cheating. Plus I was just having a mini-rant if my own.
  8. Yes, he’s developing but not there yet. Depends on your definition of ‘decent’, which is very subjective.
  9. Mowbray will never have as good a gig as Rovers (Venkys/Waggott) ever again. Complete control, no pressure, can just enjoy his football. NO other club would do this after 5 minutes and a third tier promotion...
  10. I like my goalkeepers to command their box and have a presence. His kicking is better than Raya, his height helps him get to shots that Raya might not have but I still think we should have kept Raya and upgraded our coaching set up. But Walton is 24. In four years, with the right coaching, I think he could be decent. Right now, I honestly think he is enjoying the halo effect, the reflective glow from a settled defensive pairing in front of him. Adarabioyo will be big shoes to fill next season.
  11. The thing is, these things are only a problem in televised games with cameras everywhere. Personally I’d go the other way. Stop having instant replays of every incident. Yesterday, the number of times Sky had to show replays because live play missed the action while they were showing a second or third angle replay of previous action was ridiculous. This undermining of the principle that has saved us for decades (“the ref only gets one angle”) is what has brought us VAR. Which has now made linesmen not just pointless but potentially the cause of issues, e.g. players stopping when a flag goes up only to be deemed onside by VAR and a goal standing. Get rid of VAR.
  12. This is why having the play-offs as a target and no money to buy players in January doesn’t stack up. We don’t have the depth, injuries haven’t helped, but equally the manager normally makes changes when it’s too late. In contrast we are currently very fortunate that our defenders remain fit. ??
  13. Here’s hoping today ends up being a point gained.
  14. We are definitely at cross purposes. I wasn’t on about the pen at all.
  15. Goals are the end of a move. We allowed them to get into those dangerous positions. We do this often (as do all teams) but we do it the second most from leading positions in the division (second only to Wigan). That smacks of mental weakness. Today it has cost Mowbray his first ever top six standing - even if only for a couple of hours.
  16. I was talking generally. We can’t see out games. But even so, 2-0 up today and we allowed Brentford back in. They had to get into the positions they did. Put another way, 2-0 down I wouldn’t have expected us to get to 2-2. And to be fair, we also got a soft pen and scored when we had been under the cosh for 10 minutes.
  17. I’ll just pop this here too...
  18. Just a shame, it’s not real. We just can’t see out games such is our mental weakness and lack of depth (wasting millions followed by zero January signings, in a season with a top six target, won’t help with that). 23 points now dropped this season from winning positions. This tells a huge story...
  19. We must be talking about a different incident here. He got two hands in his back while jumping for the ball. Anyway... Still no top 6 for us. Down to 10th by 5pm if things don’t go our way. All eyes on (Stoke v) Cardiff and (Wigan v) Millwall.
  20. I know right. You are going out of your way to argue that a Rovers player cheated when he plainly didn’t. Very odd.
  21. It looked even less offside on the replay. It’s when the ball is kicked by a teammate...
  22. Keep forgetting you don’t do colloquial conversation after a certain point. It was never a dive in a million years so you are wrong - better?
  23. Cheated by the linesman at the death. Lucky for him Arma is no good when one-on-one.
