Football is made up of moments, at 2-1 down: • Graham - presumably through some kind of seniority over Armstrong, takes and makes a hash of the penalty. Maybe he wanted to make a similar point to Sharpe that Gallagher had (running in from a central striker position) but the subplot he’d written in his head didn’t materialise and he fluffed his lines. It felt around the ground like that was our chance gone. • Johnson - right place right time, hits a poor but powerful shot which clips the defender and has enough on it to spoon into the corner. Absolute bedlam. If ever a draw felt like a win! • Then there’s this guy - so excited he jumps the hoardings but so absorbed in the game, he was still trying to watch while being held down on the grass by two of the security staff... Massive point with Swansea two minutes away from overtaking us. Especially with other teams slipping up again. But we really have failed to capitalise in the race to NOT get into the play-offs by five teams. 3 points from 9 has somehow not seen us out of it. I fear that Mowbray is going back to the tombola machine as players become available but hopefully we can hang in there.

January coming back to haunt us. Our lack of cb covers turns one problem into two. Bennett at right back is a big minus. We’ve had a good run of a consistent back four but it was always going to come to an end. Gallagher on the right again? It’s the same old Mowbray. We are just treading water and seem to have no ambition even as a club. We talk about promotion but we don’t really mean it. Because that would almost certainly see Mowbray sacked after a couple of months...

I wouldn’t start him when others are fit but if Bennett plays it should be in centre mid. Lots of energy against a tired opposition. That’s probably the most logical move when we bring off Downing. I used to be a big fan of Bennett but he’s another victim of being played out of position.

You’ll get no credit, possibly instead just ridicule from the “positive” posters, but that’s a great post. Spot on.
-
That sounds like a preemptive decision. Apparently waterlogged pitch. Must be expecting more bad weather so they’ve called it early. Sensible probably but annoying.
-
The thing is though, and you aren’t the first to point him out, Rothwell was the one player who actually generated any excitement when he got the ball. If anyone has the X Factor it’s him. I certainly would have kept Samuel playing instead of Gallagher though. I don’t understand the logic, especially if he had an existing back problem.

Having watched how Johnno’s teams play, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt while he’s not yet in the dugout...

Darragh Lenihan Impending Suspension - Poll

I think you’re right but it would be a dreadful move. We didn’t bother with reinforcements in January so we now have to reap what we’ve sewn. -
Tonight just proves what we already know from countless examples: when it comes to the crunch, Mowbray does not have the edge.
-
Absolute dross. Only going to get worse without Lenihan.
-
Lenihan booked for a daft one.
-
According to Sky (who took great delight while we were winning) we had lost 21 points from winning positions (so 23 after Saturday). No idea about point from losing positions, I’d suggest not many.
-
Hope that’s not Mowbray’s team talk. We need to be bold and take the game to Stoke. We need to ride this momentum as far as we can. A point tonight is not enough.

...with your feet. -
Let’s get tomorrow out of the way before rubbing our hands about Saturday. It’d be just like Rovers to lose to Stoke having been put in a great position by other teams.
-
Really hope Rovers can do what they regularly fail to do and take advantage of others slipping up. Win tomorrow and it’s game on!
-
They really are nothing like each other. At least not in their style of play. Honestly. Rothwell picks up the ball and runs forward with it. Buckley plays on the half turn and looks for a pass.

I don’t agree with sticking Tony in alongside a host of other names. Where does that stop? Who is in and who misses the cut? There is already a wall of legends with Tony’s name amongst other names. This is about recognising a former club stalwart and legend, on the pitch and off it, who devoted his career and life to this club, and who is here now. Although, holding the club to emotional ransom over stand naming is likely to be counterproductive given what the regime thinks of fans customers. However, I do agree that the club needs to think about this carefully. The online petition has set the desired recognition bar pretty high, while the one that the club delivers (and only they will ultimately deliver) has the potential to add further ill-will at a time when they are trying to generate feelgood vibes (and revenue). Which is why I think they will be ‘looking into’ an appropriate tribute for a little while yet (hopefully not until the public emotion fades - although that is a suspicion). It would be lovely to have Tony here to see it, and even open it (whatever it is). I await Steve’s decision. Or maybe he’ll defer to the FF to decide - within some defined boundaries - so it can be sold as “a fitting tribute chosen by the fans”. I certainly don’t expect to be delighted but it would be nice, just once, to be pleasantly surprised.
-
The club its head down over protests and rode it out. It kept quiet on the worst ever run of a post-war Rovers manager and rode it out. I really hope it doesn’t keep its head down over this. I certainly hope it doesn’t come up with some pithy gesture like naming a boardroom or putting a photo up somewhere. It needs to be something the fans can embrace. If he’s freytened of giving up the naming rights (££££) for a stand, how about renaming the Premier Suite or Legends Lounge? He certainly deserves the title of Club Legend.

Good spot cheers.

Would you sign Christian Walton

Let’s see how good he is when the Lenihan and Adarabioyo partnership is broken up for a spell. Then we’ll have a better idea. -
Or one of the changing rooms at Brockhall.
-
He will NEVER have as good a gig as this ever again.

The problem with safe standing is that folk can’t be trusted. There will - I guarantee - be idiots who stand three or even four in a bay for two. It already happens at away games despite there being seats. You know who you are. Shame because they ruin it for everyone else.
