  1. Those comments strike me as Souness is just trying to say something to the press because he's disappointed about how things have turned out. I wouldn't think that he really believes they were both mistakes. Cole, despite costing a lot of money did make an impact at Rovers. He scored the goals which kept us in the Premierleague, he scored the goal to win us the Worthy Cup. In the second half of last season, he was possibly our best player, or one of them. Likewise with Yorke. The season before last he was our leading scorer, and he got a few last year too. He wasn't a major sucess but he scored a few goals so he wasn't a mistake. The problem really with them both wasn't thier football, it was their attitudes. It clashed with Souness' and people who do that rarely win. I'm not that bothered that we spent £7m and £2m on them but left for nothing, because they did do a job for us. And at the time of buying Cole - who else would have made the same impact.
  2. I hope it isn't true, and if it was in the NOTW that it was in, I'd be very sceptical that it is true. However if it is true, then it is a very silly move by Rovers. Cole is a big part of our team. Even though he and Souness obviously dont see eye to eye, they are both professional enough to see the qualities of each other.
  3. I've just downloaded Firefox and I'm well impressed with it. I've downloaded the web developers extension, the duplicate tab one, the single window extension. The only bit I cant seem to get working is for view source to come up so it can be edited. At the moment I can only view it. I installed MozEX which says you it can be used to view source, but when I use that, notepad just loads with a blank page. Any ideas on this one?
  4. It would still be beneficial for Rovers to know why people haven't renewed. Whether it be league position, number of games on a Saturday 3pm, the price, or the fact that they are moving to antoher part of the country. Whatever. Then using this information they can try and do something to improve the situation for the year after. Despite the season we had last year, I dont think Rovers were expecting the drop in season tickets that there has been (although they were maybe being naive). Im sure that by trying to find out why people haven't bought tickets that they would look at ways to change things for the season after.
  5. Im not sure about this, but weren't we complaing last year or a couple of years ago that Rovers DIDN'T send out letters to people who hadn't renewed to ask why.
  6. Thats a good question. The obvious one I can think of is Tim Sherwood from when we won the league. Im not sure if there was anyone between him and Flitcroft. Previous to this wasn't Kevin Moran our captain - or at least he seems to be wearing an armband when we won the full members cup.
  7. Well it shows what a good deal I am getting from Rovers this year. My young adult s/t is costing £210 with loyalty bonus (or £175 if we end up staying in the family stand ) to watch a season's worth of Premiership football. Only £40 more than conference football. I know what I'd rather pay for.
  8. £15million on keepers, and we got big Brad. Houllier was ace
  9. There's one on Coral's website. Not sure if you can set up a league or whatever. http://coral.fantasyeurofootball.com . One snag about this is that its for over 18's only (or meant to be - being a betting website) Its not a fantasy football league, but on my website I'm running a Euro 2004 prediction league just for fun. Everyone is welcome to join.
  10. "Cheer up Stanley Ternent, oh what can it mean......."
  11. I've always struggled to find a pub at spurs that allows away colours, although many people have mentioned a wetherspoons, I've never been able to find it. Tris ? Jimbo ? Any other local ? Any better suggestions ? Last year we ended up in the weatherspoons. Its a 10-15 minute walk from the ground though, but it was the first pub we came to that let away fans in.
  12. I think the idea of sacking Souness is rediculous. I understand that we aren't playing that well at the moment, but its not a unique thing for Rovers, most years we dont seem to have that great a sart. For one thing, a knee-jerk reaction like sacking the manager isn't going to do anyone any good. Players need stability. Look what happened last time we sacked our manager. Also, who would we get instead? George Graham? Paul Jewell? that Plymouth manager someone was talking about? Why don't we poach the Accrington Stanley manager cos he was able to get them promoted to the Conference. The point I'm trying to make is that I dont think that any of the managers who would come to Rovers, would do any better than what Souness has. Give him time, the season is still young. I'm sure we'll turn it around and be up there by the end of the season.
  13. The scoring does start this weekend but I dont think anything will appear until all this weekends games have been played. So it'll be sunday night I'm guessing before we get to see who is top after one game.
  14. Ive just set up a league on the PL one. To join the league you need this code: cn174@opl_106157
  15. The old Can You Kick It has moved to the Premier League site. http://fantasy.premierleague.com/info.html I'll finish making my team then I'll set a league up.
  16. I'm pretty sure it was the same guy who was sat behind us in the family stand (the tracksuit and the shirt look very similar anyway) because after the first goal he and two celtic fans had a small argument and he also about 20 minutes before the end. The sad thing about it was that he got the loudest cheer out of the Rovers fans the whole game! About Matty. I dont think that we can judge him on just four games. He had a very serious accident and for some to say this early that he is finished is a bit stupid. It is going to take time for him to be anything like how good he was.
  17. Absolute rubbish performance from the lads. Celtic were first to every ball, header, tackle etc. I expected Rovers to be up for this game but we wasn't. We did them at their ground, didn't score, they did us at Ewood but did score. Cant be bothered to talk about individual players but they best put in a proper performance against Everton or I definately wont be happy.
  18. Wasn't impressed that there were a few up in the family stand. Some got thrown out but the three celtic fans and one rangers fan behind us stayed there the whole match and didn't cause any trouble at all. But what I am less than impressed about is the "Rovers fans" who gave them the tickets.
  19. I was very disappointed with the scoreline last night but not with the performance. For large majorities of the game, Rovers dominated the game but as good as our football was we need to shoot more. We showed that Celtic are nothing more than an average team. Dont think many people except Rovers fans expected us to play as well as we did at Celtic Park. The second leg will be different. When Duff, Cole and Jansen should be fully fit and Rovers will play a little more direct. It should be a good game at Ewood and I still fancy Rovers to go through.
  20. Fair enough, I haven't watched Celtic recently - we no longer get to watch Scottish footy here and Celtic do have some decent players but so do we. OK you might say Berg is our only recognisable quality defender but Tiny is playing excellent at the moment. And you cant forget Friedel - 1/4 final in the World Cup. Up front we have plenty of attacking flair that your back will have to deal with. Tugay - semi finals in World Cup and Dunn - England international in midfield. Along with Duff if he is fit to play. Up front Yorke and Jansen or maybe Cole depending on his fitness too. Things have been going very well this season I'd say the team is capable of beating anyone on their day. Also we've got every reason to be confident - we've just beaten the English champions so there's no reason why we cant beat the Scottish Champions as well!
  21. Now im more mad than gutted after being rung up by some friends (ex friends until after Celtic) who dont go to Rovers very often but borrowed someone elses season tickets and they have got tickets. ggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  22. AESF - while in the queue for tickets, the two lads behind us were talking to John Williams. Rovers were offered 7000+ tickets or 2900. Rovers took the 2700.
  23. Im absolutely f'in gutted. I queued up from 9 this morning, was 10 people from the front of the queue at 1:40 and that was it. Absolutely cant believe it. Tried phoning at the same time as queuing but there isn't much signal under the Blackburn End. But I tell ya, its a good job that security guard did one quick after him gloating he already had one! He came out with "All the Celtic tickets have sold out but if you want a Walsall ticket there are plenty available...." I wanted to knock his head off. I am absolutely gutted but the man who was behind me went to Sofia and has been to every away game this season and even went to Germany in pre season and for him not to get a ticket is very very wrong.
  24. Seems reasonable to me. Just hoping that I do get a ticket! Guess what I'll be doing first thing Monday morning.
