  1. There's a long way to go in the transfer window but as things stand we're in bad shape. Our squad is bottom 8 at the moment. Need some good signings and quickly.
  2. Very quiet on the transfer front but I'm sure things are bubbling up nicely behind the scenes. We usually only find out about players joining us around 48 hours before they actually join. And it's about the same time that I ever knew those players existed! I'm not sure any had predicted or heard of Khadra, Van Hecke, et al this time last year. I trust the manager to get it right in the transfer market.
  3. Isn't it refreshing to feel like we've got people in place who have a plan and know what they're doing. I have a lot more faith in our new DoF and manager than old school Mowbray and Waggot. I know the latter is still here but he won't be involved in football matters. It may not work out but this new era feels like the right approach.
  4. Welcome Jon! There seems to be a lot of excitement around the appointment from the majority of fans. That's always a good start. I suppose if you'd have told us our new manager would be someone who managed in the champions league last season, we would have taken that!
  5. I would have preferred a proven manager at this level but I'm fully behind JDT nonetheless. Let's see what we can do in the transfer market as that's going to be key.
  6. I'd go for Chris Hughton at this stage. Proven manager who knows how to win matches in this league. But that's far too sensible an appointment for the club. He did badly at Forest but he's far superior to any of the managers on our final shortlist. Very disappointed with the names now in the frame. The club have got it wrong yet again.
  7. I feel like it's gonna be a Henning Berg-esque appointment. Why can't we just go for a proven manager like Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest did rather than faffing about with left field choices. Those two clubs have shown what good managers who know what it takes to win matches in this league can do for a club.
  8. Whoever it ends up being, it sounds like it's gonna be a left field appointment and a big gamble. Why am I not surprised.
  9. Big blow to lose Lenihan but can't blame him for moving on. He's been a top pro for us and has moved on to earn more and have a better chance of getting promoted. Nothing wrong with that. Tough summer ahead for us. A complete re-build but perhaps things needed freshening up.
  10. Exactly, I think we're kidding ourselves if we think any player, manager, coach is not in it for the money. That's the modern game.
  11. Farke is a good manager who did a good job at Norwich. However, we have to take context into account. He was at a well run club with good owners and had a talented set of players. Here he would have a dreadful set of owners, dysfunctional operations, and an ok/solid set of championship players. It's a completely different task. In saying that, the number of dreadful owners and poorly run clubs in the championship has levelled the playing field for us. I feel its going to be a very mediocre league next season which is good news for us.
  12. Farke and Ainsworth look like the early front runners. I'd be happy with either. Talk of a quick appointment is promising.
  13. Thankfully it's his last game. Hopeless.
  14. On the whole TM has done a good job here and will be remembered as being a successful manager during his spell as Rovers manager. I do have sympathy that he's been shown a complete lack of respect by the owners by not even telling him they have no plans to renew his contract, however he's benefitted tremendously from Venkys being inept owners. He's pretty much had free reign at the club do appoint who he wanted at boardroom level and had a huge amount of control at the club. There's no way he would have survived some of the atrocious runs of form if we had owners who cared/had an ounce of football knowledge. I will be pleased to see him go as I think he's a very average championship manager. I do, however, think he's left the club in a fairly healthy position and it will be a role that many managers will be interested in. Farke or Dyche would be excellent appointments but I expect a promotion from within or someone like Alex Neill.
  15. Same old Rovers. Get in a good position in the league, fall off a clip over the next few months, then win the final few games. Still, nice to see a game where we're cruising to victory.
  16. Daniel Farke? Far more likely to be someone like Alex Neill.
  17. Season gone a few weeks ago so I'm not too bothered about the past 2 results. Players are not putting in a shift because they don't want to get injured and ruin a summer move away. Tony just well out of his depth at this level and has been for a few years. I fear a very difficult summer and I think this time next year we'll snatch your hand off for a mid table finish. We're facing a relegation battle with so many players leaving and a chronic lack of investment.
  18. I don't think he has a 'right' position. He's just not very good.
  19. I love Burnley's new owners. They're as bad as ours. Lge 1 here they come.
  20. Don't you just love football! What a kick in the teeth. Pleased for Dacky getting his first goal.
  21. Please just put us and Tony out of his misery. Get rid tonight.
  22. Forest are a great example of how transformative a good manager can be. From no-hopers who made their worst start to a season in decades to a side storming into the top 6 in a matter of a few months.
