  1. Classic Rovers. Lose again on the opening day and concede 2+ goals. Yes, lots of positives in the performance but being the better team and still losing and conceding 3 is not good enough.
  2. Brooke’s and Billing not in the starting 11 is good news. A good team but nothing to be afraid of.
  3. I wouldn't count Cunningham because he barely played for us, we're about par in the left back position. Central defence is definitely weaker, Tosin was fantastic. GK you have to think will be stronger. Downing was class but I doubt he would be able to hit the same levels again this season at his age. You could argue that the return of Dack balances out the technical ability missed by Downing going. And Holtby and Evans missed big chunks of the season. The others we lost make no difference at all. Central defence and LB the big weak areas.
  4. Nah not good enough for us imo. I'm pleased we didn't go down that route.
  5. Interesting, I hadn't realised he didn't play much. He always looked like one of their best players to me. Gibbs-White is one of the stand out signings of the summer in this division. But overall they'll still be weaker.
  6. I think this is a good game for us to start with. I'd much rather start with a game away which we're expected to lose rather than a home game against a newly promoted side at home. Not convinced by Bournemouth at all. I think they'll struggle a lot this year. Very much the start of the downward spiral for them.
  7. That's a huge below for them losing Celina. They've lost 3 key players now in Brewster, Van De Hoorn, and Celina. Ayew will prob go too.
  8. I missed that. Have we missed out on a target because they want to see us show more ambition? I was more thinking that this was the player that wants to come here but his agent is demanding too much.
  9. Presume the foreign player on a plane over here was Schmidt (sp)?
  10. Unless it's about us being close to signing some players and/or our best players being close to signing new contracts, I won't bother reading it!
  11. A lot of 'experts' predicting that we'll win. Have to say, I have no idea who will be in their starting 11. Will King play? Brookes? They've lost 4 key players already - Ake, Wilson, Ramsdale, Fraser - and will lose King and Brookes before the end of the window too. And, most importantly, they've lost their manager as well who performed miracles. I actually think we'll break our opening day hoodoo and win this one. I also think Bournemouth are in for a very tough season and their manager will be gone by Xmas.
  12. If we sign a good left back and CB, a play off place is realistic. The weakest this league has been since we were relegated from the prem. A real chance if we can get some good defenders in. Breo and Gallagher will be better than they were last year, and Dack is back soon. We should score quite a few goals. Fail to sign to sign any decent defenders and I think we'll be around 12-14th.
  13. Stating the obvious but it's almost certain we'll be starting the early part of the season without any reinforcements aside from our new GK obviously. In that case, we have to go with a CB pairing of Lenihan and Williams IMO. The absolute key signing was a GK so thankfully we have got one of those in. I would dread to think how many soft goals we would have lost if Fisher had to start the season in goal for us. As it stands, we are staring at a lower mid finish in the league. Personally, I think we'll see Liam Lindsay end up here as our main CB signing. TM is known admirer and he'll be within our price range.
  14. It's difficult. You either go for decent players and put your hat in the ring for them and hope they 'buy into the project' as TM would say. However, those players will also likely have offers from other clubs who can offer a better package, therefore there's a good chance those targets will fall away. The other strategy is to go for players that are a level below the top targets but with a higher chance of those players actually signing for the club.
  15. As much as we crave transfer stories, recent history shows we only find out about a signing 24 hours before it actually happens. I don't think anyone has the inside scoop on what is actually going on.
  16. It has been reported we are "working on a foreign target". This could be the one...or it could just be him having some fun and games.
  17. I have to say, I wouldn’t be letting Williams go unless we get a 7 figure offer. He was outstanding today and showed at the beginning of last season that he’s a decent centre half.
  18. Well that was very promising. We were by far the better team in that second half against a strong side. Williams was an absolute rock at the back. Magloire is more than ready to be involved in and around the first team this season, whereas Fisher is a million miles from being ready.
  19. Nyambe our best player in that half. He will be a prem player at some point. Holtby been impressive too. Magloire showing that he’s probably the best of the young centre halves that are coming through the academy. Bell has done surprisingly well so far.
  20. Just over a week until the season opener and it goes without saying there's a huge job to be done in the transfer market to better or even maintain the position we finished in last season. There's no doubt we're weaker than we were last season - losing two of our best performers last season in Downing and Tosin. Our defence is probably bottom 6 quality at the moment which is a worry. I still have faith we'll add some decent quality to our backline before the window closes but it's looking like we're going to struggle until those players come in.
  21. It's clearly Sarr. Not overly excited by him signing but lets see what he can do.
  22. No, I'd want better. Not convinced that WBA are that keen on him, he's clearly a back up option for them. You can't blame Kipre for holding out though to see if they do firm up their interest as you can't turn down a premier league move and premier league money. Not too keen on the idea of signing Sarr. Potentially ok as a back-up (is he any better than D Williams though?) but certainly not as a first choice centre half.
