  1. Wouldn’t these just be fans who already have season tickets and they’ve been auto-enrolled for next season? It may help cash flow in the short term but they will have to refund that money at some point. I certainly don’t see any fans being allowed in for the first half of the season.
  2. I think this will be a summer when football presses the re-set button and we see a correction in terms of wages and transfer fees. I don’t see anyone other than those with parachute payments spending any money this summer. Even those with parachute payments will have to cut their cloth accordingly as the likelihood is that no one will be making any money from season ticket sales next season. I do think we’ll see a sale of a key player to cover the losses from now season ticket money. I also don’t expect anything other than our transfer budget to cover wages for players, I can’t see a transfer fee being paid. There are some good free transfers coming onto the market and hopefully we can work some magic in the loan market. Id love to see Jordan Rhodes come back here on a free. Brewster would be amazing on loan, but don’t see us being in the running. Ben Gibson would be a good option at CB if he’s prepared to take a huge pay cut, and Cunningham would do nicely at LB.
  3. Huge gulf in class sadly. We get 1 point off the play off places and then we go on to lose three in a row, conceding 7 and scoring 1. Happens every time we get in touching distance.
  4. If we are to make a serious attempt at promotion next season then Gallagher, Johnson, Bennett, Rothwell, Holtby need to become back up players and not see so much game time. Tbh a lot of those are already back up players but have seen more game time than we’d like due to injuries. Holtby has disappointed me since signing, I was expecting a lot more quality from him.
  5. Game over. Season over. Both teams wide open at the back but they have way more quality to expose the gaps. I didn't think for a split second Gallagher would score when he went through one on one. His place in the starting 11 has to start being judged on his performances rather than his transfer fee. If he cost 100k, there's no way he'd be anywhere near the starting line up.
  6. Tbh I’m not sure. If it is, why extend his contract to the end of the season? Doesn’t make sense at all.
  7. It’s hard to criticise Bennett, he gives his all in every game and seems to genuinely care about the club. However, he is a very limited player and struggles badly at LB.
  8. I don’t really understand why Sam Hart was given an extension to the end of the season if he can’t even get in the squad when our other two LBs are injured.
  9. Let's hope so. He liked it here, we liked him, and Cardiff don't seem desperate to keep him so all the signs are positive.
  10. I think the tactic does work, we've done well this season with that tactic. Pretty much all teams play that way now. What we have got wrong is continuing to play Gallagher wide right when he's clearly not suited to that role. Mulgrew will likely move on loan again.
  11. I think it’s clear that we need a new goalkeeper and lb. They are the weak areas at the moment. I do think we’ll make an attempt to bring back Cunningham here next season as he looked very good before his injury. Thankfully Walton is not ours so we can consign him to the history books. We’ll need a couple of centre halves to come in; one to sadly replace Tosin, who is destined for a loan spell at the top level next season you would imagine, and one who can provide back up for first choice centre halves. Outs: Leutwiler, Mulgrew, Smallwood, Samuel, Hart, Chapman, (Walton), (Tosin) Keep: Graham, Downing Incoming: Two GK, Two centre halves, LB, wide striker
  12. Dominic Samuel was my man of the match. Absolutely outstanding, especially as he hasn’t started a game since August 2018. Walton and Bell most improved players since the turn of the year. The usual star players for us were very good again today. Downing may as well be given the player of the season award now. Buckley has his best game in a Rovers shirt and Brereton is starting to look like a footballer. Strangely, we seem to be getting stronger with each new injury!
  13. I don’t think we’ll get top 6 but what this season has shown is perhaps we have a better squad than we thought. The wheels haven’t come off despite long term injuries to key players. Dack and Lenihan would have been my two who are irreplaceable in the team - we are coping ok without Dack so far though.
  14. That has to be our easiest game of the season so far. Hull were absolutely dire, we didn’t get out of first gear and still won 3-0 and should have had more. Armstrong is looking like some player. Pace, good on the ball, technical ability, goals, and assistants. Nyambe is up there with him as most improved in the past three months. Breo and Samuel looked good when they came on. Really pleased to see Samuel score.
  15. What has Armstrong been having for breakfast the past 6 weeks? Looks like a totally different player.
  16. No quality going forward and weak at the back. All too familiar,
  17. Another atrocious set of results over Christmas and another horror show at the back. Add that to no real quality going forward. Nowhere near good enough for the top 6, unfortunately.
  18. Please send this pathetic GK back to brighton ASAP. Bell and Bennett can find a new club too!
  19. Good find. Illustrates the state of modern football outside of the premier league, making huge losses each year is not unique to just us.
  20. Obviously concerning figures, mainly because it means we are at the mercy of Venkys to keep us going, but these figures are indicative of clubs in the championship who are dreaming of premier league riches. The majority of championship clubs are at the mercy of their owners to keep them afloat, that’s the story of modern football outside of the top flight. How many clubs are self sustainable?
  21. We lack a lot of quality going forward, we need 2/3 players who are technically good and/can beat a man. We also need a striker who guarantees goals (don’t we all!). We are 3 quality players short of being genuine promotion contenders imo. That’s all very easy in theory but quality attacking players cost money in transfer fees and wages that we don’t have.
  22. What a shocker of a performances. Buckley, my word. I’d give him a minus score for that performance.
  23. Very drab game, much like the one on Monday night. Bell showing why a new LB needs to be on the shopping list in Jan. He does some decent things going forward but overall nowhere near up to it. No one really stood out today, but we looked solid at the back again. I don’t really buy into the “we’ve had two easy home games” because there is nothing between the top and bottom in this league, the results today show that once again. I’d certainly have taken our league position at the beginning of the season - a perfect position to make the play offs if we make a couple of good Jan additions.
  24. Trying to look on the bright side, at least we have a ready-made replacement in Holtby to come in and play in his best position. He’s not as good as Dack but he is still a class player.
