  1. I think the next two games are all about damage limitation before we get our better players back. I would snap your hand off now for 4 points from the next two games. To put into context, we have our best striker missing, our best playmaker, our best midfielder, our best defender, our best gk, and both of our left backs missing. I'm not sure any team could cope with that in any division. I think it makes sense to not play Armstrong tomorrow night. We can't afford to lose him for a couple of months. Forget the pretty stuff tomorrow, play the ball forward quickly, pick up the second balls, and get lots of crosses into the box for Gallagher.
  2. Great news and very well timed. We need his quality and experience at the moment, especially as it means Evans is pushed further down the pecking order.
  3. I fear another loss in this one. I suspect Armstrong won’t feature and none of the absentees will be back, so we’re going to be weaker than we have been for the the past two games where we’ve been dreadful. We will have most of the possession, play some pretty football, create some decent chances...but they’ll probably score from a set price or a counter attack and we’ll end up losing. Sadly all too predictable at the moment. Desperately need the international break. I do still very much believe we can push for the top 6 when we have the majority of our players available again. The worry is how much ground we’ll have to make up by the time we can get our players back. A frustrating season so far. Just when we assemble a good squad, half of them aren’t available.
  4. Absolute Garbage. Not quite sure where we go from here. We've come up short against every half decent team we've played this season.
  5. Fed up of pretty football and absolutely no solidity. Way too easy to score against us. Something has to change.
  6. Oh dear. Feeling a loss is coming with that team news
  7. Exactly. Look at seasons gone past, the table often looks very different at the end of the season than after 8 games. Brentford were sitting in 14th after 9 games last season, for example.
  8. I see where you're coming from but there are always one or two surprise teams every year and Reading will prob be one of those. Once they get a few injuries, they will start to struggle a bit but top 6 is a realistic possibility for them if their best players stay fit for most of the season. You don't expect Nottingham Forest and Cardiff to be around the top 6 because they are currently sitting in lowly positions after 8 games? That's just nonsensical imo.
  9. Less than 10 games gone!! They will both be up there come the end of the season. Man City are 13th and Man Utd are 15th but both will be top 6 come the end of the season.
  10. I do expect us to be fighting for top 6. I'm not writing us off after less than 10 games. I don't expect Reading to finish top 2 so they are one of our competitors for top 6.
  11. What a bizarre league. We could do with a Coventry result as we don't want Reading getting too much of a head of steam before they inevitably start to falter when their squad is put to the test.
  12. Really tough game tomorrow. I really rate Swansea and think they'll be top 6 this season. It feels like we're playing a lot of the top 6 contenders at the moment - Bournemouth, Watford, Notts Forest, Cardiff, Reading, now Swansea and then Boro. We've come up short in all of these games so far. Reading was by far our worst game of the season and was a real reality check. We need a win tomorrow to get us believing again. It feels all too familiar at the moment despite a good transfer window. I think it will end up being a draw. Nyambe will come back in and JRC will probably replace Evans in midfield if Rothwell isn't fit. We need some legs and energy in midfield and JRC would offer that.
  13. 38 games to go and all still to play for. It's been a disappointing start to the season but not a disastrous one. Tonight was a shocker but I'm still hopeful we'll have a decent season. Kaminski, Ayala and Nyambe all need to come back into the back 4. Rothwell needs to come back into the midfield and then suddenly we're looking a lot stronger. JRC struggled badly tonight and is a lesson that he cant play there against the better teams, Pears didn't convince me although I don't think he was necessarily to blame for any of the goals, and Evan's was a complete passenger. Lenihan struggled too but the defensive shape was a shambles all night so it's hard to single out of the backline - all dreadful. Even Del had a poor game.
  14. Dreadful night for us. Beaten by a much team here. Lots of huff and puff going forward, and all over the place at the back.
  15. For the second week in a row we’ve lost the game after 15 minutes. Reading are a tough team to break down so this game is over. Comical defending. Worst performance of the season.
  16. Interesting stat that Gallagher has scored 3 in his past 5 appearances (all as a sub)
  17. I think we'll win this one. I'm not fooled by their early season form, they are hugely over performing on the back of a new manager bounce. We've got a superior team to them and should expect to win.
  18. Buckley will be a player and have a good career here. Davenport may well turn out to be a good player but I fully expect him to be shipped out in Jan. He won't get a look in here now. Same with Chapman.
  19. A big mention for Williams and JRC today. Williams is like a completely different player this season and it has to be him + Lenihan or Ayala. He's not as aggressive in his play as Lenhian but he reads the game far better. He always seems to be in the right place at the right time and expertly covers when our LB is caught out of position. JRC has impressed me at RB this season. I'm not convinced he's good enough to play in one of the wide attacking roles like he did on the opening day, but he's certainly good enough at RB. What an amazing ball to put Ben clean through for the pen. He suits our "play on the front foot" style of play more than Nyambe does. Nyambe will still have a huge role to play this season though.
  20. Ben played like a £10m player today. He needs to work on his finishing but he was outstanding. Without doubt his best performance in a Rovers shirt. Harvey Elliot came to life in the second half and comes away with a goal and assist. Very impressive all round.
  21. Breo, JRC, Holtby were all outstanding. Need a second goal though and then it’s game over.
  22. I can see why JRC has come in for Nyambe. I think we’ve missed his attacking play down the right since he’s been out.
  23. Yes! I like that team a lot.
  24. We have to win this one and I think we will. Trybull for Evans and Williams for Ayala are the two changes I expect. Bell will cling onto his place. Coventry 0 - Rovers 3. Armstrong to get a couple.
  25. I thought Armstrong was very cavalier with his finishing last night and was looking for a spectacular goal for the highlights reel. When Elliot put him clean through he would have been far better trying to take it round the GK rather than going for the spectacular chip. He’s an ok penalty taker but if the GK guesses the right way then his pens are always a nice height for the GK. Compare that to pens taken by Mulgrew or Dack who put them bang in the corner of the net.
