  1. Haha Mowbray said in his post match comments.
  2. My guess would be Kipre.
  3. Agreement reached with another signing.
  4. Thankfully 4 of the back 5 today will not be in our first choice backline this season. Hopeless at the back. Brereton is starting to look like a top player. Probably our best player today. Dolan looks like the real deal. Get him in the starting 11.
  5. Very comfortable so far, neither team have got out of first gear. Holtby was looking good before he went off injured (again!). Chapman looks like a shadow of his former self. Bell is as bad as ever. The pitch is in a dreadful state.
  6. To be fair, he’s not got a crystal ball. If West Brom make him a formal offer, he’ll go there. If they get their first choice instead, then he’ll most likely end up here.
  7. Well, that didn't last long. Kipre is off to WBA.
  8. How are we signing players when we have no budget?
  9. Sounds like Del Boy is not far off from a move to Swansea. Strange signing for them.
  10. I watched the majority of the friendly yesterday and I continue to be impressed by the high quality of youngsters coming through the ranks. This is certainly a golden era for us in terms of young talent coming through. Dolan is ready for first team action, no doubt about that. From the glimpses I've seen of Brennan, he looks like he's going to be a class act. His touch is excellent. JRC has a great engine and desire for the game. He'll become a fans favourite I reckon. You can see Buckley is very technically gifted but he's too physically weak at the moment to use his talents to the max. Wharton looked strong and good in the air but I feel like he lacks mobility and can be too easily turned over. He'll be a good defender but he'll need to read the game very well as I don't think he'll have the pace to recover from mistakes. Brereton is starting to look the part. He's slowly becoming someone you think he'll make something happen when he gets the ball rather than someone who will try something and immediately lose it or be outmuscled. Although we've played two poor teams and we've got signings to come (hopefully!), the signs are that we'll score goals but also concede lots of goals (as per) as it stands. Blackpool bypassed our midfield with relative ease and were able to run at our back 4. They didn't have the quality to expose those holes but many teams in the Championship will.
  11. I agree that there's a good player in Brereton. The big fee has impacted him badly - he's struggled to deal with the pressure. We have to remember he's only 21 and learning his trade. If he had come through the youth team and no fee was paid for him, the attitude towards him would be very different. Instead, big things are expected immediately because he cost 7m. There is a very valid debate of whether we should have spent 7m on a player that wouldn't be able to come into the team straight away and be one of our key players. Gallagher is different. He's been played completely out of position and asked to do things he's not capable of doing. Stick him up front and get balls into the box. He'll score a few then.
  12. Interesting, it does sound as though there’s no offer on the table for Downing at the moment. With the pace at which we get signings done, I’d imagine Downing would have to wait until deadline day to see if we can offer him a new deal or not. In other words, he won’t be coming back here. I personally think that’s a big blow. I thought he was excellent last season and one of our best players.
  13. I suspect Downing has been made an offer on much reduced terms which to me suggests they (a) the wage budget must be reduced and (b) we would like to keep him but we’re not desperate to.
  14. Quite impressed by the imminent Kaminski signing. Never seen him play but he’s an experienced GK who has played European football multiple times for a decent club, and he was their number one GK until covid hit. Their fans are saying they are surprised he’s being let go so cheaply, so he could prove to be a real bargain. If we can get a decent LB and CB, added to the good talent coming through the youth ranks, we could well have a very good season.
  15. My thoughts exactly. We get told every year there is no budget!
  16. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Liam Lindsay end up here. TM tried to sign him last summer, Stoke don’t want him, and I can’t imagine his wages are that big. Never really seen him play so I can’t comment on his ability but pretty much everyone is underperforming at Stoke, so I wouldn’t write him off just because he’s had a tough time time there. Could be a smart move.
  17. You'd think Brentford failing to get promoted makes it more likely Raya will make a move to the premier league this summer. Duffy and King almost certainly likely to move too so we could make a fair few quid from sell on fees this summer. Not sure if we would have a sell on fee inserted for Duffy though.
  18. Far too early to say. Hugely depends on the transfer business in the summer. According to Nicko we have a decent transfer budget for this summer, not huge but money is there for new signings. What I do know about next season is that it will be the weakest league since we’ve been in the division. The three teams going up are far stronger than those coming down. I don’t anticipate anyone spending big money on signings to transform their squad so there’s a very real opportunity for us next season if we add some clever signings.
  19. The reality is, we cannot afford the type of quality players needed to get promoted so either have to unearth some gems abroad, get top quality players in on loan, or unearth some academy gems. If we get all three strategies spot on then we may have a chance.
  20. Love a bit of positivity I do agree though that it was a dead rubber and we can't draw too many conclusions from it. Plus, Reading are a dreadful team. However, I do think Breo and Gallagher have shown more promise since the re-start, particularly Brereton.
  21. There's no doubt we have some very good young players coming through. Buckley is probably the most talented of the young players, but very promising all round. Gally and Brereton did well I thought. Starting to show signs of life. Walton was terrible as usual.
  22. Brereton has been sensational out there. Definitely his best game for us so far. He’s held the ball up well, always looked to move the ball forward, and obviously he has scored. Rothwell and Holtby good too. Trav and Armstrong excellent as always. Carter has had very little to do. Missing the quality of passing that Tosin gives us though. JRC looks decent. He looks like the sort of player who will be a solid 7/10 every week.
  23. Classic Rovers. Pressure off and we look like Barcelona.
  24. I think that confirms to us that Samuel and Graham won’t be offered new contracts. No point playing Tosin as he won’t be here next season, good to see Carter come in instead. Let’s see what he can do. Looking forward to seeing Brereton too. I thought he was looking impressive before his suspension.
  25. I agree. I think we'll know our budget has been cut if we decide to keep Samuel. TM won't keep him if he thinks we can get better quality in.
