  1. Decent side with a strong bench. I’m surprised that Bell and Smallwood have kept their places,; not surprised that Palmer has lost his. Dack is the key man as always.
  2. A shocker of a second half, we went a bit too gung ho when we went 2-1 down. We just didn’t compete that well today, which is unlike us. I still feel like we have a really exciting young squad being built here; one bad result won’t change that. I think TM was waiting for a defeat before dropping one or two players and bringing in some of our summer signings. Williams will almost certainly come in next match for Bell and Smallwood will be dropped for Reed. There surely has to be a regular starting slot for Rothwell, he looked excellent again today.
  3. £15m for a player that’s only played three games in the championship is a good offer tbf. But we won’t sell this window. £15m-£20m in January from a premier league club may be a different story. He will most certainly leave after this season if we don’t go up; he’s a premier league player.
  4. I think ppl are reading too much into the picture Chapman has put up. If he leaves on loan, I would be shocked if we’re not the club he joins. He loved it here, he’s well loved by the fans, and he seems to be good mates with the players. Plus, TM has already said he’s desperate to re-join the club.
  5. Wouldn’t be surprised if a couple more came in and a couple went out before the deadline. Surely Whittingham will follow Caddis in leaving by mutual consent. Perhaps loans for Fisher and Nuttal if we can get a couple in. I reckon we may pull off the chapman deal.
  6. Hopefully we can bring in one or two more before window closes but, even if we don’t, I think we’ve had an excellent window and gone up a couple of levels. I can’t see any reason why we can’t have a promotion push this season. i would like to see Chapman come back but don’t think it’s essential, we have lots of competition for those forward places. Plus, he’s out of contract next summer so we can re-visit then. I think Bauer from Charlton will also end up here eventually. I do think we’re a bit light at centre back, though, so that could be where we fall down a bit. If we get an injury there, we’re then relying on Downing, Rodwell, Williams to cover - none of them are proven centre backs at this level. We are struggling if Raya gets injured too.
  7. My interpretation of those comments are that it’s pretty much a done deal but Forest have erratic owners so anything could happen until it’s actually signed and sealed by all parties.
  8. Down to the bare bones in the attacking areas. I don’t see any creativity in that side so we’ll be relying on set pieces. Despite the injury problems, Whittingham still can’t make the bench.
  9. Rodwell is a no brainier on a cheap short term deal. If he gets anywhere near the levels he’s capable of then he’ll be the best cm at the club by a country mile. Signing Reed as well on loan means we are very overloaded on central midfielders. Travis will go out on loan, Whittingham will probably go, and Smallwood will become a reserve. Not sure where this leaves Davenport, I can’t see him getting a look in. Rothwell will most likely play further forward. We neee a new striker (or two) and a wide player and then I think we’ve got a good squad. Dark horses for the play offs?
  10. It was sheer desire and spirit that got us a point in that game. We were pretty poor going forward - not surprising when we were missing Dack, Armstrong and Palmer - but we kept plugging away and never gave up. Fantastic resilience this set of players have. Rothwell outstanding. Nyambe, Bennett and Evans very good too. I thought Nuttal did really well when he came on. Looks like Anichibe will be coming in on a free then. Not a bad freebie.
  11. I expect Armstrong to come in for Palmer in the only change from the starting 11 against Millwall. I think our starting 11 will look a bit more dynamic after the loan window has closed, but I expect a more cautious side until we’ve got a few points on the board and bedded in the new players. This game is a tough one to call. Hull City are a club on the slide and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them relegated in the next couple of seasons. They still have 1 or 2 talented players at their disposal so it won’t be an easy game. If Dack is on song, I think we’ll win. If not, a draw or Hull win.
  12. I’ve seen bits and pieces of Bereton and he looks very, very talented. Would be a massive coup if we got him. Skilful and pacy. Not really a Danny Graham type of striker from what I’ve seen. I’m shocked that Forest are willing to let their best young player go, but I think they’re going for quick fixes in the transfer market and hoping for promotion this year, rather than building a team for the future. Is it me or is TM quietly building a very talented young team here? I was underwhelmed by the Rothwell signing but he’s looked very impressive so far, I think he may well be a proper player. Armstrong was a steal at £1.75m too. Daveport and Palmer promising signings too.
  13. Dack anc Armstrong linking up fantastically tonight. Graham may find himself on the bench on Saturday.
  14. Guy on Sky Sports says Travis has been brilliant.
  15. I like Chapman a lot, he has the potential to be a premier league player imo. He can ghost past a player at pace and create havoc. Injury record a concern but one I would love to return. Think he may well return before the end of the month.
  16. “No, we are not in a rush to sell him” That basically means they will sell him if a good bid comes in and the player wants to go. If not, he’s happy to have him stay and fight for a place. That’s essentially what Karanka is saying. It’s hardly a “he’s not for sale at any price” type comment from Karanka. Still think Gallagher is more likely though.
  17. I’ve interpreted that very differently, it sounds like they are very willing to sell Bereton if the deal is right.
  18. The transfer window isn’t closed for championship clubs. Window to be judged at the end of August. So far, I’d say a poor window with nowhere near enough quality in. Have a feeling that may change come the end of the month.
  19. I do think central midfield is an area that needs addressing. I don’t think Smalllwood/Evans are of the standard required. Smallwood is fantastic at harassing and chasing players, but players at this level have that little bit of quality to produce a little bit of skill to sidestep him. Evans is unable to produce the goods on a consistentl basis, but he probably is our most talented CM player when he’s on form. Whittngham’s career is well and truly over,; Travis I have high hopes for and think he’ll become a regular,; Davenport/Rothewell I know little about. I think Davenport could turn out to be good, he did well at burton last year, but I’m unsure about Rothwell.
  20. Obviously frustrated with the last minute goal, but I’m pretty pleased with that performance and result overall. I would certainly have taken that result before the game. i thought we looked solid and pretty comfortable throughout. We lacked a lot of quality going forward, but what we lacked in quality we made up for in hard work and organisation. Armstrong and two other quality attacking players needed. We’d be looking a lot stronger then. Bennett, Samuel, Nuttal, and Conway are not good enough in those forward positions.
  21. Armstrong all but completed then. At the numbers being talked about, I think that’s a real bargain. A young player with lots of pace and an eye for goal. I do feel a front three of Dack, Armstrong, and Palmer behind Graham is pretty strong. Lots of pace, trickery and match winners in there. We do need a target man to come in too, Graham won’t last the whole season. I also feel we need one more attacking player to replace Payne.
  22. Interesting comments from TM, clearly he’s targeting some more proven players at this level, which can’t be a bad thing. I still think Armstrong may end up here but I’m not sure he feels he can rely on chapman with his injury record. Presumably he has some ambitious targets in mind.
  23. Excellent signing. He’s certainly a matchwinner, of which we’re lacking. I would expect our “big” signing will be Armstrong, and that’s where the baulk of our budget will go. I would anticipate another loan coming in the forward positions, probably a target man. Add a decent back-up centre half and I think we’re looking relatively strong. On top of that, I think Lewis Travis will cement a regular place place in the centre of midfield this season, which will feel like a new signing. He looks like a top player.
  24. This wouldn’t surprise me at all. Certainly fits the bill with what TM is looking for - young, pacy, and room for improvement. Not seen him play much but pace is important in any league and he clearly has potential. The way we’ll play next season is by soaking up the pressure and hitting teams on the break, so pacy players are a must. We’re not going to outplay teams or have the majority of possession in a lot of games.
  25. I think the problem is we don’t really have the funds to compete for players in the championship, whereas last year we were financial giants in league 1, hence why we were able to do our business early and get the players we wanted. I don’t have any reason to doubt TM when he says he came back from india with a decent budget, it was clearly enough to give our key players improved contracts and be in the market for new players. However, when you see players like Waghorn going for £8m, that really puts into perspective how much you need to spend in this league to be competitive. I do believe TM has the nous to keep us up, even with the current squad, but it would be a real struggle. As always, new owners desperately needed to inject some serious funds into the club.
