Unless it's about us being close to signing some players and/or our best players being close to signing new contracts, I won't bother reading it!
-
A lot of 'experts' predicting that we'll win. Have to say, I have no idea who will be in their starting 11. Will King play? Brookes? They've lost 4 key players already - Ake, Wilson, Ramsdale, Fraser - and will lose King and Brookes before the end of the window too. And, most importantly, they've lost their manager as well who performed miracles. I actually think we'll break our opening day hoodoo and win this one. I also think Bournemouth are in for a very tough season and their manager will be gone by Xmas.

Season Predictions 2020-2021
rovers11 replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If we sign a good left back and CB, a play off place is realistic. The weakest this league has been since we were relegated from the prem. A real chance if we can get some good defenders in. Breo and Gallagher will be better than they were last year, and Dack is back soon. We should score quite a few goals. Fail to sign to sign any decent defenders and I think we'll be around 12-14th. -
Stating the obvious but it's almost certain we'll be starting the early part of the season without any reinforcements aside from our new GK obviously. In that case, we have to go with a CB pairing of Lenihan and Williams IMO. The absolute key signing was a GK so thankfully we have got one of those in. I would dread to think how many soft goals we would have lost if Fisher had to start the season in goal for us. As it stands, we are staring at a lower mid finish in the league. Personally, I think we'll see Liam Lindsay end up here as our main CB signing. TM is known admirer and he'll be within our price range.
-
It's difficult. You either go for decent players and put your hat in the ring for them and hope they 'buy into the project' as TM would say. However, those players will also likely have offers from other clubs who can offer a better package, therefore there's a good chance those targets will fall away. The other strategy is to go for players that are a level below the top targets but with a higher chance of those players actually signing for the club.
-
As much as we crave transfer stories, recent history shows we only find out about a signing 24 hours before it actually happens. I don't think anyone has the inside scoop on what is actually going on.
-
It has been reported we are "working on a foreign target". This could be the one...or it could just be him having some fun and games.
-
I have to say, I wouldn’t be letting Williams go unless we get a 7 figure offer. He was outstanding today and showed at the beginning of last season that he’s a decent centre half.
-
Well that was very promising. We were by far the better team in that second half against a strong side. Williams was an absolute rock at the back. Magloire is more than ready to be involved in and around the first team this season, whereas Fisher is a million miles from being ready.
-
Nyambe our best player in that half. He will be a prem player at some point. Holtby been impressive too. Magloire showing that he’s probably the best of the young centre halves that are coming through the academy. Bell has done surprisingly well so far.

Just over a week until the season opener and it goes without saying there's a huge job to be done in the transfer market to better or even maintain the position we finished in last season. There's no doubt we're weaker than we were last season - losing two of our best performers last season in Downing and Tosin. Our defence is probably bottom 6 quality at the moment which is a worry. I still have faith we'll add some decent quality to our backline before the window closes but it's looking like we're going to struggle until those players come in.
-
It's clearly Sarr. Not overly excited by him signing but lets see what he can do.
-
No, I'd want better. Not convinced that WBA are that keen on him, he's clearly a back up option for them. You can't blame Kipre for holding out though to see if they do firm up their interest as you can't turn down a premier league move and premier league money. Not too keen on the idea of signing Sarr. Potentially ok as a back-up (is he any better than D Williams though?) but certainly not as a first choice centre half.
-
Haha Mowbray said in his post match comments.
-
My guess would be Kipre.

Agreement reached with another signing.

Doncaster Rovers (H) CARABAO CUP RND1 - Sat 29th Aug

Thankfully 4 of the back 5 today will not be in our first choice backline this season. Hopeless at the back. Brereton is starting to look like a top player. Probably our best player today. Dolan looks like the real deal. Get him in the starting 11. -

Very comfortable so far, neither team have got out of first gear. Holtby was looking good before he went off injured (again!). Chapman looks like a shadow of his former self. Bell is as bad as ever. The pitch is in a dreadful state. -
To be fair, he’s not got a crystal ball. If West Brom make him a formal offer, he’ll go there. If they get their first choice instead, then he’ll most likely end up here.
-
Well, that didn't last long. Kipre is off to WBA.

How are we signing players when we have no budget?
-
Sounds like Del Boy is not far off from a move to Swansea. Strange signing for them.

Blackpool (A) - Tuesday 25th August
rovers11 replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I watched the majority of the friendly yesterday and I continue to be impressed by the high quality of youngsters coming through the ranks. This is certainly a golden era for us in terms of young talent coming through. Dolan is ready for first team action, no doubt about that. From the glimpses I've seen of Brennan, he looks like he's going to be a class act. His touch is excellent. JRC has a great engine and desire for the game. He'll become a fans favourite I reckon. You can see Buckley is very technically gifted but he's too physically weak at the moment to use his talents to the max. Wharton looked strong and good in the air but I feel like he lacks mobility and can be too easily turned over. He'll be a good defender but he'll need to read the game very well as I don't think he'll have the pace to recover from mistakes. Brereton is starting to look the part. He's slowly becoming someone you think he'll make something happen when he gets the ball rather than someone who will try something and immediately lose it or be outmuscled. Although we've played two poor teams and we've got signings to come (hopefully!), the signs are that we'll score goals but also concede lots of goals (as per) as it stands. Blackpool bypassed our midfield with relative ease and were able to run at our back 4. They didn't have the quality to expose those holes but many teams in the Championship will. -
I agree that there's a good player in Brereton. The big fee has impacted him badly - he's struggled to deal with the pressure. We have to remember he's only 21 and learning his trade. If he had come through the youth team and no fee was paid for him, the attitude towards him would be very different. Instead, big things are expected immediately because he cost 7m. There is a very valid debate of whether we should have spent 7m on a player that wouldn't be able to come into the team straight away and be one of our key players. Gallagher is different. He's been played completely out of position and asked to do things he's not capable of doing. Stick him up front and get balls into the box. He'll score a few then.

Interesting, it does sound as though there’s no offer on the table for Downing at the moment. With the pace at which we get signings done, I’d imagine Downing would have to wait until deadline day to see if we can offer him a new deal or not. In other words, he won’t be coming back here. I personally think that’s a big blow. I thought he was excellent last season and one of our best players.
