He's clueless, he really is. -

Same old, same old. Lots of possession but doing nothing with it. The defensive shape is terrible as always. Their player allowed to run half the pitch and get a shot without a challenge in sight. Pears is not very good but I think we knew that already. -

I'm looking forward to this game, it's nice to have a break from the league. I hope we'll give some fringe players a chance like Dolan and I'd like to see Gally played through the middle. A first start for Dack? -

I don't rate Gally but I don't dislike him. He's always given 100% when I've seen him play but we're not playing to his strengths. He was signed as a replacement for Danny Graham but then we decided to change our playing style which is less suited to how Gally plays. He was much more effective in his first stint here when the focus was more on getting balls out wide and crosses into the box. The problem for TM is that Gally should be a bench player but we've spent 5m on him so he has to try and get some value out of him. The price tag is the only reason he's in the team. Play him as a central striker and he'd do a lot better...but you can't move one of the best strikers in this league out wide to accommodate Gally centrally. Do we cut our losses and put it down as a mistake? Or do we try and keep plugging away and hope he comes good? Reality is he prob only needs a good half a season for his value to go up. -

So pleased for Dack. I bet he's dreamed about that moment during his year's absence. Great to see Trav back too. I didn't watch the game so I cant comment on the performance, but nice to get 3 points. Just a shame we're well off the pace for the play off places. -

Great to see Trav back but an incredibly poor line up. Mind you, the Brum side looks poor too. I'm going 1-0 to Brum. -
Nigel Pearson would be a realistic option to replace TM. There are options out there.

It's false hope imo. We're nowhere near good enough for top 6 unfortunately with the way we are set up at the moment. We are playing basketball tactics, not football. We wont suddenly turn into a solid, well organised side. We'll continue to concede a hatful and lose a lot of games.
-
Season over. Just need to make sure we get enough points to avoid a relegation battle, which I think we will. Anyone who thinks we can still get top 6 is living in dreamland. Huddersfield deserved the win, we were a shambles. There is no organisation in this team, we look like we're going to concede everytime the other team attacks. Time for a change...but it wont happen.
-
Defensively we have no shape whatsoever. All very well playing pretty football but it's a game of defending and attacking.
-
Mowbray, please go.

Can’t help but feel this season is slipping away in what has been a poor campaign so far. I only see one play off place up for grabs as I’m not convinced Reading will last the pace. For us to get that last place we’d have to be almost faultless which is just very unlikely to happen. It will be more of the same - good runs followed by bad runs. Credit to TM for the job he’s done and the squad he’s built here but he just doesn’t have the nous to get us into the top 6. We are too easy to score against and always have been in his reign here. I don’t see that changing. It’s all academic though, he’s not getting fired. He will leave when he wants to leave.
-
I like TM but it's time for a change. It's the same old story time and time again. We have a good squad this year, good enough for top 6 but we're not getting anything other than mid table. Buck has to stop with the manager. Who fires him though? No one at the club will and the owners have no idea what they're doing, so it won't happen.

Massive news which should hopefully encourage more to follow suit. That's the best bit of business we could have hoped for. Need to keep this squad together and keep building.

I agree. He’s set up the infrastructure around him which has allowed Venkys to step back. I don’t think they’d know what to do if Mowbray left as others would probably follow him. -

They won't. They will be lucky to get top half. That was truly woeful. A team like that can easily go on a run where they go on a big losing run. -

20 games in is a good time to reflect on the manager's position. We're playing better football but the results are the same as they've been for the past 2 seasons. We're not a million miles away from the play offs so I'd stick with TM over the festive period and then re-evaluate in early Jan. -

What an awful, awful side Stoke are. They crossed the halfway line once and scored. End of. We will finish above them at the end of the season. No doubts about that -
Mixed feelings about last night. Ultimately it's all about the result and getting 3 points so I'm happy. To score a last second goal to win a match is always a special moment. Also, to win a game when you've been so incredibly poor is every good sign. The 5 sub rule showed why it benefits bigger clubs like ours, their subs made them worse and swung the momentum in our favour. The performance for 80 minutes was inept though. Worrying the players didnt look particularly up for it. That's where we miss the fans to spur the players on; not many of the players seemed motivated on a cold night against an unfashionable team. Let's enjoy Harvey Elliot while he's, we're watching a future England star. Other observations: - Do we have Douglas' twin brother? - Buckley is not ready to start a match - Downing still oozes class
