Venky’s v Indian Government (a)
47er replied to tomphil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
What's that mean? By what criteria have they not been as disastrous as "some like to make out."? Not in the Conference maybe? They've fucked the club up good and proper. And the recent transfer window shows they have learned nothing. People don't like to make this out, its simply a fact. They've been a disaster, they continue to be a disaster and will always be a disaster. Most recent example---"should we buy a £7M house in the area and take it out of Rovers transfer budget? Really, you should be ashamed to keep coming up with this crap. -

Same old from you Eddie. They are paying for the mess they created. Said a thousand times. Sure they could bankrupt us anytime they chose. But we would rise again I've no doubt about that and no fear. It may or may not take years to get back to todays mediocre position but there's an upside---we'd be free of those dopey bastards forever I don't understand why some think that Rovers would almost uniquely fail to survive. -
Tell me about it!

You may get your wish. Better late than never.

Nobody knows but the possibilities have been gone over time after time on here. Its not like there's no examples to go on is it? Heard of Phoenix clubs? Seen what's happened at Bolton or AFC Wimbledon or Rangers for that matter. Its not over when Venkys let us down for the last time.

Venky’s v Indian Government (a)

There's another kind of entitlement where owners of a football club, thousands of miles away and apparently disinterested, feel entitled to do whatever they like, without any sense of responsibility to the generations who have loved the club for nearly 2 centuries. Then there's the fans who think that's alright. Strange. -
I must have read that view a thousand times! Started roughly 12 years ago. Called it Stockholm Syndrome then and can't improve on that description.

We were.......Not so sure now.

v Cardiff City (h) - 27/9/23 Carabao Cup
47er replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I love this bit about him. Quite clear that there is a unity of purpose and method throughout the club. Everyone from top to bottom is being coached on the same principles. TV commentators rave about the quality of our attacking football which looks more akin to the Premiership than what has been the usual rough and tumble of the Championship. That said, there is more quality in the Championship these days. If only JDT had sufficient quality and experience at his disposal to go with it and it wouldn't have cost that much. But the Club had to suffer for a Venky's decision to spend £7M on a house! -

We can't rely on JDT to continuously perform miracles to cover for the owners failings though. He'll get fed up of this. He's ambitious and thought he was buying into a genuine project. -
That *was* the January Window

Doesn't matter what we say, Nixon is determined to sell him! 😩 -

What nags at me is that they are paying 20M a year to keeps in the championship, yet, if they'd put a lesser amount than that in at the start, we could still be in the Premiership. I say "could" because that would depend on the quality of people appointed to run the various aspects of the Club -
Our squad is weaker than last season.
-
My 2 pennyworth, Rochina is so much better now he's left (like most Rovers players) and Dolan is going backwards. He was better in his first season than he is now.
-
Buckley substituted after 55 mins yesterday.
-
Same as last year.
-
I'm assuming neither. Just another mid-table lost season in the Championship after all the hopes from last. Its quite obvious that we have a manager of great talent and ambition with a clear plan of how he wants us to play. But he hasn't been given the players to do it with. I don't see this ending well.

Forced to sell Kaminski to keep afloat. Thanks for nothing Venkys. We all knew it would come back to haunt us didn't we?

I wish I felt as confident. They didn't come last season and was the major factor in missing the play-offs. We looked to the transfer window to put things right and it didn't. 9 points behind bloody Preston now. 😩 -

Exactly what Plymouth fans said. I was told he'd played 35 games for Plymouth last season but of course he hadn't! "If" is a bigger word than it looks eh? -

Really? Just the odd deprecating remark surely? He was here for 5 years after all. -

Ha! So that's the test is it? If we don't batter Sunderland we were wrong about Mowbray! Like we judge anyone on just a single game. He's gone, thank God, get over it! -

Big big if eh? When did we last do this? Harrogate I suppose, on reflection! -

Let's not overlook why Preston do it. Its not to inflate attendance figures, but its done in the hope and expectation that it creates the supporters of the future. We have no similar long-term plans about anything. In say 10 years time, a certain % of these almost freebies will be full adults and paying the full amount. Not rocket science is it?
