  1. I think (Or is that hope?) that the Glaziers wouldn't touch Hughes. It would send no shockwaves through europe/or the world, and would gain Man Utd very little publicity anywhere bar Britain. However, your big name foreign coach attracts interest from everywhere, and really sends a message to Utds rivals throughout europe, giving Utd a financial boost thanks to interest from lets say Korea, Holland, Australia, Spain? Who has managed in all those countries, and been successful in every one of them? Why it's Utds next manager (Imo)... Guus Hiddink!!
  2. That interview is littered with the kind of comments which make me love Souey so much. Blatantly wrong yet so, so defiant.
  3. Does anybody know yet if Bolton will be without their African contingent?
  4. Not this season though. Last season the replay was away, but at home todays team would have no problems with Burton.
  5. Evra is playing, Vidic isn't in consideration for a place in the 16.
  6. Generally agree. Despise O'Leary, and used to hate Pardew but has always been very fair and complimentary towards Rovers.
  7. Now the Axe is available I'd expect him to take Savages' place in my original team.
  8. Totally agree. I always think home first is best, so you aren't stuck in two minds what to do, which you can be depending on what happened in the away leg. Always best to be certain at home. I reckon 2-2, which may not be good enough.
  9. Don't think anyone can explain if that is the case philip. I too hope to see one last game, but to be honest, it's not as if he deserves it, and they could so easily just get him out on the pitch before the game or at half time to say his goodbyes. If Hughes does see him as surplus, imagine how embarrassing his final ''hurah'' could be? Would any of us want that? Plus lets not forget the most important thing, progressing in the competition.
  10. Well I'm struggling to think of many central midfielders we have bar Savage, Tugay, Reid ans Mokoena, two of which are unavailable. Hughes will put out a team he expects can win comfortably enough, the last thing he wants is to knacker those who will be playing mid week.
  11. Clueless to what the team will be considering we have a much bigger game midweek... My guess... Friedel Neill Todd Khizanishvili Matteo Thompson Savage Tugay Emerton Bellamy Bentley I would also expect Bellamy to be replaced after an hour or so, but I think that team will be good enough for a 3-0 victory.
  12. Prior to Souness arriving Dunn had handed in a transfer request and Jansen had agreed to join Rangers the following summer, but Souness vetoed the moved when he arrived. Duff was also half the player he turned out to be, so Souness did do this club some good.
  13. We will probably know he's gone when he's in Boltons lineup on Jan 15th, and not a moment sooner.
  14. The thread is about the Wigam away fixture. At this fixture some morons decided to chant racist comments towards Blackburn. Therefore talking about it is just as legitimate as talking about Reids goal, as both happened at the Wigan away match.
  15. Well if the FA are trying to screw us over Rovers can easily play ball their way by appealing at the very last minute and try to delay the decision until after the second leg, as we REALLY need Nelsen for that game.
  16. Emre just sprung to mind along with Carr. Could be a shockingly easy three points that one.
  17. So when we play the geordies away they will have no Parker, Owen, Ameobi, Dyer.... Anybody else?
  18. I think realistically, if you get into the CL, you have to be first realistic and then optimistic with your transfer policy. By this I mean stock up on quantity first, with players you know will do a job, and a good job at that, to ensure you can actually cope with the implimentations of the extra fixtures. Then, once your squad is at the minimum amount to cope with this start adding quality players if possible. This way you aren't caught short once the season starts, with maybe one or two quality additions but no numbers, which can lead you into freefall in so many different ways. I think Moyes got his policy wrong. He tried signing all these quality players and let plenty of good players who would have strengthened the squad slip away. He seems to have just about got away with it, but he certainly didn't take advantage of the once in a lifetime opportunity he got.
  19. I like Souey. One thing you can't fault him for is his genuine passion, and he does know alot about football, and on the couple of occasions I have met him he has been nothing but a true gentleman, a ''proper'' person as he would say. Unfortunately, as a manager, he is too old fashioned and narrow minded. Good luck to him I say, but luck is something he has been often short of. To add to what I just said, GS is a man I think often has good ideas, and the way they pan out in his head are often brilliant, it's just in reality he has often fallen short when putting those ideas into practice. Sounds simplistic, but I know what I mean!
  20. Wow drog well done. You've managed to completely turn around what I said. Heres some points for you to swallow, ''numpty....'' 1. I think Friedel is a good goalkeeper. He is easily the best Rovers keeper of modern times, and still one of the best 6 in the league. 2. Friedels positioning for freekicks has been in question even through his ''Superman'' days. He has conceded a hell of a lot of freekicks whilst he's been with Rovers, and to me, it is his blatant weekspot. 3. Lat night Friedel was poor. In the second half, he could and very nearly did cost us two goals. Would you be so defensive of him had one of those opportunities hit the back of the net? One would not think so. 4. I am a big Brad Friedel fan. So, ''Mr Cutting,'' get your facts straight and look correctly at what I said, as well as looking at the the facts, before you start acting like a pregnant woman who's two weeks overdue.
  21. What game were you at? I saw a flapping bald idiot with superglue on his boots, not a goalkeeper. And how many freekicks is Brad going to concede. All his Rovers career he's looked dodgy at them, and his positioning is always awful for them.
  22. Jansen had two good seasons for Rovers yet seems to be held in higher esteem than players such as Tugay, who have had a far bigger impact on the club. Doesn't suprise me, Rovers fans seemingly never do have priorities straight when it comes to praising, appreciating or welcoming players. Great guy, very good player, but legend? God??!! Get a grip. Just another brick in the wall, albeit, a nice brick.
  23. I find the fact that the fans decide to chant Kuqis' name repeatedly no matter what he does well and truely embarrassing, more so than watching him play for us. Our fans seem to love chanting the name of Kuqi and Reid (who has played Okay in the last two games, but is still not first team material) but have a hard time acknowledging the quality players in the team who actually do their jobs; ie, Bellamy, Neill, Nelsen etc. Yes I'm happy when he scores, but nothing has changed, he is nowhere near good enough. He never will be. He needs replacing in the team before we can get to the level of european contenders.
