Just on this point… Whilst this loan won’t show in the club’s accounts I presume it will show in Venky London’s accounts. Surely if that company ends up being unable to pay its debts it’s just as bad for the club as if the debt were secured against Rover’s assets. Unless I’m missing something??

It will be interesting to see if they get involved if/when a judge says no.

I’m not sure the sum borrowed was disclosed but other than that I think you’re right.

The timeline suggests we were already struggling to pay HMRC when we were looking to commit major (for us) funds to the O’Brien deal 🤔

The last set of accounts predated this (period ending 30 June 2022)

If a club exceeds the limit in ‘year one’ they have to provide future financial information covering the next two years. If these projections show they’ll continue to exceed the limits then the EFL can impose a business plan to ensure that they don’t.

Regarding the last paragraph in that EFL statement (about Reading). Has the Trust been in touch with the EFL regarding our ‘challenging situation’?

That’s what I thought until I read the exact wording of the regulation I posted. The most likely scenario is I’m misinterpreting it!!
