  4. Your point about ‘dead games’ at the end of the season is a good one which I hadn’t even considered. I still think it’s a viable option to supplement season tickets, but maybe it needs a bit more thought (something we know the club won’t do!) Season tickets may well be the safest way, and I agree they’re priced too highly to encourage more sales - I just think there are gains to be had from something between a season ticket and buying tickets on a game by game basis.
  5. The membership might work even if the season tickets were the same price per match. If a member ended up attending all the matches, they’d have paid the extra £50 fee (the equivalent of £2.17 per match) They’d start spending less (in absolute terms) than a season ticket holder on missing their fourth match (assuming your £300 season ticket price) - perhaps there’s an argument that the ‘break even point’ should be set at a higher number of games. This could be done in one of two ways, a higher initial fee or a higher (as you suggested) price per ticket. With a bit of thinking and creativity (ha!) I think this could work - but I also agree with those who say lowering the price is the quickest and easiest option to implement. In my opinion, they should be looking at doing both.

  19. I see what you mean, but it’s also arbitrary that: 3rd place is a play off position in the championship and league one, but gains you automatic promotion from league two. The bottom three get relegated from the championship, but it’s the bottom four in league one and only the bottom two in league two. Goal difference is the first deciding factor when points are level (if it was results between the teams we’d have finished sixth!)
  20. It’s also about ‘maintaining interest’ for more clubs for more of the season. If the top three went up, the final few weeks of this season would have been about whether Luton or Middlesbrough were going to finish third. With the playoffs, a further 8 clubs still had realistic promotion ambitions.
  21. Price can solve nearly all the other issues (for most, but not all people) - but it isn’t the only way if solving these issues.
  22. It might not be a priority but it doesn’t mean they (clubs in general) shouldn’t look into it. I think scrapping season tickets is ‘a step too far’ but I do think clubs should be looking to supplement season tickets with other options. Of course the easiest ‘short term solution’ is to cut the price - which almost guarantees SW won’t do this.
  23. This is a genuine question as I’ve absolutely no idea - excluding the Premier League, are grounds generally now selling out of home tickets? If they’re not, that might suggest there’s scope for other clubs to consider things such as flexible tickets.
  24. The higher up the club someone is the less you should believe them…
