v Millwall (a) - Monday 8th May
tomphil replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I'm quite resigned to the fact we've let it slip and need a miracle which as we know they never happen. However i so badly don't want Mowbray in those play offs with a team that isn't even his. I don't hate old Tone but it's a real slap in the face after his last season here and lets be honest Sunderland fans are a bit annoying. -

If the roles were reversed there'd be no more than a handful of people at Ewood who gave a stuff. Sums these lot up they are obsessed almost on a Burnley level. -

Whatever happens tomorrow the top 6 was blown way before with very poor way too casual efforts at the likes of Rotherham, Stoke and Brum. Alongside the many sloppy extra time equalisers recently. So not putting too much despondency on it if we get pumped tomorrow because the odds of a win are very against us, never mind the other results. At least the season has stayed alive until the death which is something we've been pinning for for years whilst in the grip of midtable water treading being the only aim. -

Kean was delusional with his non stop ultra positive bull crap but JDT isn't he's just a bright kind of guy if a little repetitive. Needs to cotton on quickly though that you need a plan B in this league. -

I actually like Millwall they're a proper club with proper fans despite the bad press. Been there a few times and never had any bother nor seen them cause any up here. Same can't be said for Palace and QPR they are a bit up themselves some of that lot. -

It was good when it was in fashion but it became outdated a while back, it fit better when we were a decent Prem side with good crowds. Some far better chants than that have bitten the dust in the modern era. I still think though that when the BBE gets rocking it's one of the best 'ends' as in behind the goals in this league. Just very few and far between these days but the players clearly respond to it. -

I pray they don't try and turn Wharton into that type of player. Rare you see a proper midfielder like him currently and he needs to be given licence to play his game not have it drummed out of him. -

Then the story becomes plucky unlucky young Rovers side just misses out. Instead of ....... young Rovers with comfortable cushion of points blows it to even younger squad and dinosaur manager due to complete transfer window mess. -

I think so because imo there is a tendency to stay deeper and move the ball slower when he is in. Although results were no better nor worse i don't think. Not saying it's his fault but it's just the type of player he is but it was the same when Evans was here. Some managers just seem to love that type of player but it's not for me and i don't think it suits our team. -

How would they get 10/15 mill a year through the books if suddenly the club had a 100 million income guaranteed ? No good for cooking the books that Prem caper. -

Most would say his form and levels dropped even further when the news of his alleged signed pre contract with Villarreal gathered pace. Pretty certain that's all done and dusted. -

No he was signed to buy time for Wharton and Garret as coming from Liverpool the automatic assumption was that he's better. Once signed and agreed then they had to justify that so he kept getting rolled out when he clearly wasn't up to it after a promising start. They seemed to see him as the only one who could control a short pass and recycle the ball which maybe he was at the time, just too much of it was backwards. -

Probably but the point was he doing ok but ended up out the team and didn't get back in other than a bit part sub although he hadn't done much wrong. He creates more in 5 mins every time he's on the pitch than Hedges does in 95 but doesn't do the graft and they are completely different players so i'd say that was maybe tactical. -

He grafted when he first came though so it looked like he was playing to earn a move here then he got dropped for tactical reasons i assume and like Giles last year hes lost interest. Agree though his attitude problems at Hudds were well documented but he came here. -

Classic case of you either pay good money to guarantee goals or you look to others clubs benches. Take a punt and get someone to supply their ammunition, Conway was the oil to the Gestede machine. I hate to bring it up but our dearest friends down the road showed the way to do it will strikers years ago. We haven't had enough brains at this club to follow that path though. -

Thomas clearly isn't a grafter in the mould JDT requires iv'e thought the last few times i've seen him he didn't look as fit as when he first came. Particularly against Luton, he's a good player imo but he obviously just sees himself as an attacking outlet who just wants to run forwards with the ball. The root of this of course is he's a loan player and probably knew he wouldn't be staying anyway so like others he's just mentally switched off. Seems the type who'll regularly be changing clubs in the future. -

It's possible to counter an opposition change with what you already have on the pitch even if it's only for a few mins. -

We conceded against Sheff U, PNE and Coventry after he'd done that so no it turns out it wasn't the right thing to do it doesn't work for us. However their goals came about they ALL came mins after changing shape so it's impossible to say it was the right thing to do. -

Speed of the players legging it off at the end 🤣 Classic Simon Garner there left foot then right foot finish easy as you like. -
It would be better in the middle at the back of the BBE so it spreads around the whole stand. The other night at times there are 2 or 3 chants going on in the same end so you get get a rumble of noise then it stops or it sweeps from one end to the other and isn't as loud. The middle is where it's at in a stadium like ours that's how it was pre seating all the boisterous gathered in the middle.
