  1. Well this guy is no shoulder shrugger so at least we know he'll be trying to drum a new mentality into them.
  2. I don't concur with the free hit analogy it was used last season several times over and look what happened there. As well as the old it's ok we've got x games in hand so when we win we'll ...... Said exactly the same last season as well that whilst we know we can't win every game we have to expect to aim to get a result in every one.
  3. Main memories are of him breaking through into the first team and me thinking how great it was we had a good young striker in the ranks at last. Goal v West Ham and levelling the score in the last min away at Oldham stand out. RIP
  4. Another of the leagues underachievers but not an easy place to go and given our already mounting injury situation i'll take whatever we can get down there. Reading 1 Rovers 1
  5. A Bolton song it was as far as i was concerned.
  6. I don't think it's panic or unreasonable to ask Liverpool and the player are you coming or not because we need you now. Then move on to the next target quickly and hope to get that done. It's about Blackburn Rovers not Liverpool or the player and if we lose momentum because of dithering around upstairs over a loan player it could send us on a difficult run.
  7. It started at Matchroom boxing shows over here about 6 years ago at least, i suppose they pinched it from somewhere probably the US. So for that reason i'm sick of it now 😅
  8. Yep he is class just like he was last season and from a fans point of view there is no point in selling him now.
  9. Bruce has never and will never give a Blackburn side much credit, i still maintain he'll be sacked at some point this season the swollen mercenary.
  10. I did last January, nobody down there did though.
  11. Aye and as i recall where i sit it was 7 quid dearer than the Swansea match so i binned it off on principle. Despite the renewed optimism if it was 30 quid plus today there'd still have been at least 2k less on imo.
  12. We have changed tack now though somewhat and the key should be build with our own where possible. Just grabbing players on loan and then fitting them in especially if they have caveats to that loan is the Mowbray way. If we sign this lad with a view to buy fair enough but to grab him and he keeps Carter out whilst costing a load of money is a bit counter productive. Obviously not if he helps promotion but that is still a pipe dream.
  13. Because i expect him to step up after his loan like Wharton did, obviously now he's injuer so that puts a different slant on it. However why block his progress when fit ? Van Dan Berg has been at Preston 2 seasons and is now looking at coming to us with guaranteed games. So yes he has experience to slot straight in which is good but why is no one else snapping him up ? Nothing to say Carter couldn't do the job we need and he's one of our own. Van Hecke 1 season here now maybe around his parent clubs Prem squad. Tosin 1 season here snapped up by money bags ambitious Fulham.
  14. Another good gate including a decent away number so well done everybody. The prices although not cheap are more sensible than some last season, this one included.
  15. Personally i'd rather see Carter than VDB but looks like his injury might be a long problem. Or they'll loan in this lad and flog Carter to Pompey i wouldn't be surprised if that happened.
  16. That Poveda loan deal who the hell signed that off ? A lot of money down the pan o that one alone....again !
  17. There were claims to the contrary when TM was in charge. However if a lot of these are heavily subsidised then it's understandable the clubs doing the lending will want something guaranteeing. Does seem a bit of a heavy handed way to go about it though but i'm sure we can start looking elsewhere, seeing as he's been at Preston and we are looking it must be a cheap deal to begin with. Two years at PNE though and now going to another similar level club suggests to me he isn't all that i think some are going over the top in regards to him. Just because it involves the name Liverpool. There must be others.
  18. This could be when the proverbial gets teal then.
  19. And as if by magic a post disappears.....
  20. Please don't tell me we are back to the old i know something you don't nonsense.
  21. The fact he came through our academy and was good enough to play 180 games for us is a massive plus considering that's the whole idea. As for adapting to the modern game well he hasn't been playing that way until a couple of seasons ago and on the other side it seems Pickering hasn't adapted either. Bell before him couldn't adapt in fact several players have been in that position whilst Ryan mainly made the RB spot his own. So you are talking shite it's fuck all to do with adapting it's all about him being better at his specialist position which is RB in a back 4. And that's only because he can't cross pass or create at the other end everything else about his game is decent. Imo he'll probably end up at Wigan or somewhere else as right sided in a back 3 and be very good at it. Thankfully now we have a recruitment team who can perhaps bring in horses for courses instead of Mowbrays make your feet fit the shoe policy.
  22. Yes that's the best way to describe it we've paid a good fee so it's fair enough to expect an upgrade. The issue we all thought we were facing was one of finding somebody better for nothing. That's a whole different ball game.
  23. Early signs are good but lets not jump the gun the only real time to judge is the end of the season.
  24. Did cost us a million to replace him though not the few hundred grand presumed !
  25. I think they probably have finally realised about the changing demographic and been panicked into doing something. It's long overdue and they seem to be doing a good job, the club belongs to the whole town after all. However it should never be at the expense of long standing fans or lapsed regulars from a bit further afield. If you can bus local kids in for nowt you can bus a few in from outside town as well for balance.
