They used the tv money to funnel some into subsidising the cheap STs at a time the then owners weren't really funding it. It was all to prepare it for sale and make it look more attractive if we are being honest. Now though we have owners pumping in anywhere between 15 and 25 million per season, you can bet some of that gets 'funnelled' elsewhere. About time it went in the right direction and help get bums on seats again but that doesn't seem to fit the present model here.

v Hartlepool Utd (h) - Carabao Cup, 10/8/22

Looking forwards to this and hopefully seeing how the 'second team' performs. I think JDT is bang on the money if he does it like that rather than fielding most of the first team. -

Yes we never take a lot there but i'd expect double that for the first away on a Saturday afternoon. That wouldn't be unusual for us s for me it's the overall cost of living crisis starting to bite not just the ticket price alone. Hopefully it's just one a one off lot decided to swerve but it was small and lets be brutally honest if they'd brought that up here it would have been looked on the same. -

They went off sale on Friday aft with no pay on the day available so maybe that was the case and they pulled them when nearing 500. Wouldn't have made a whole lot of difference to the eventual number though. -

When you look at the other away followings around the league for first away games over big distances it's poor for us. Credit to every single one there but there is more than just ticket prices to that although the trains are probably all to cock as well. It's dear at Sheff Utd but we better be taking a decent following there otherwise it looks shit for the new coach and new players. -

VAT although chargeable on top is surely re claimable so can't see that being much of a factor although obviously distorts the figures a bit. I wonder how Rovers managed to get their pants pulled down on the Poveda loan deal ? Hopefully the same person hasn't been doing the recent incomings. -

Don't recall us getting thumped 0-3 by a so called bang average side or anyone else for that matter. The Swansea way is so not the way to go in this division unless you can invest in quality to play that way. He'll be the latest one to find this out before long i expect. -

You're basing it on one example you say you know about and that doesn't involve the level here. -
And when there has been the very rare chance to rebuild it they've done sod all.

As much as i'd like JPVH back here his form and attitude for most of last season means hes earned the right to have a go at it at Brighton imo. Good luck to him and we'll have to move on at some point. -

Must be some kind of tax write off or FFP advantage in doing it somehow or they wouldn't entertain it. It goes against all they are supposed to be doing here with a Brentford model also Waggots penny pinching mantra. They'd literally be getting anything they could for anyone as contracts run down i refuse to believe it's a football related decision on their part. -

They'd probably get away with 25k seeing as he's allegedly on less than half that given the 'flex' deal he was signed on. Unless that was lies of course which wouldn't surprise. -

With the intense play required of the front men by this coach there'll be tired legs need resting so that's when Dack will come in. -

We should have a Mercers Red Thread every time we win, see how many different ones he can get through in a season. -
I think it was early in Dyches reign they were booing them off after a nil nil at the turd in front of 9 or 10 thousand. Take no notice of Burnley half their support these days is plastic even a lot of them will admit it. Pendle Hill is still available should they need it though, meanwhile 19k would be great at Ewood but we'd still have ten thousand plus empty seats. Therefore we'd still get the usual abuse. can't win.

Standard BBC if they aren't blowing smoke up one of the big boys or doing a bit of virtue signalling towards some latest fad they are lost. -

They are after building on what was here rather than rip up and start again which is 100% the right approach. That's why it won't look much different at times but it was clearly evident today there is a desire to ramp it up instead of tone it down. -

We played quite well down there last season but got beat by ten men if i recall correctly. Today everything that was missing in the fine detail of that game was actually there today. Plenty of nous from the sidelines to go with the effort and players carrying out the gameplan to perfection. Great start, all the hard work to come but i think it's evident now this won't turn into a Coyle scenario. -

Patience. We are still playing a team that always dominates possession same as last season. -

Agreed. If you look at the injuries he suffered all these niggles and strains etc probably because he was rushed too early. The lad had serious pace and worked hard but no positional sense at all. Needed that proper development but they stuck him on a 5 year nice contract, he was out in Preston with his pals every weekend. Struggled with the weight of it all and became more interested in his life outside football. -

Didn't loan academy lads out enough back then imo They seemed to throw anyone half decent into the first team squad (there weren't many)to try and justify the academy. It stunted their development then we were either stuck with them or they fell away. We seemed to churn out a string of kids going to lower league clubs for a few grand whilst hopefully waiting for the next Jones. Meanwhile Lowe, Henley etc were stuck on 5 year contracts where we then had to try and justify them in the first team.
