Hull City sold over 14k now, probably similar gates to us last season. Is there a board of directors anywhere in this league that are as behind the curve as ours ?

Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?

The only sense i can make of it is they were setting up a loan with a view to buy deal and maybe that would be knocked off the fee if it went through. -

It's the alleged offer of 26k wage contribution to Liverpool for Davies when we can't seem to find enough for others i can't get my head around. -

Would Waggot even genuinely know who Rovers are in for beyond just hearing possible names ? Broughton, the recruitment team will be dealing with all that then probably going direct to Suhail and the finance men to get them signed off. -
2022/2023 Pre Season Thread

Pears costs what 4 or 5k pwk to sit on the bench yet we seem to baulk at shelling out for some pay rises or signings. Now we are being told by NIxon Rovers were willing to shell out 26 grand a week on a loan signing for Davies. Surely that brass would be better spent on securing Brereton so he's worth something in years to come. And bringing in another good player of our own ? Nothing ever makes sense here. -

Zero or next to zero chance of that re-investment happening though and even if some did it would be next summer. So as fans and team are we better just getting what we can out of him for another season ? Surely he'd be out to impress potential suitors so should have a good season. It's yet another monumental balls up letting it get to this stage but the ownership just isn't bothered. They don't need the money back they seem to have a certain amount per year they need to 'lose' in Rovers books so desperately getting money back on players isn't their aim. Sadly it's the club that suffers because we can't put it towards FFP but like i said it doesn't affect their pockets. It all seems to be about being comfortable losing a certain amount of spare money whilst playing with the club. -
Yeah Boris type character is a good point in how he comes across and like him he isn't really a leader just a middleman.

He's a failure but still manages to raise the prices enough to cover his wages despite the declining crowds. Still, as long as he does his snake oil job on those who look into his eyes all is well, it really isn't.

I'd rather not know, as frustrating as it is and be pleasantly surprised than hear it early from that spin doctor and it fall through. The guy has done as much harm as good with Rovers. -

I might be in a minority here but i'd rather keep big Sam unless someone is offering sully money. By that i mean a lot more than we paid, iv'e a sneaky feeling he'll bag a few this season. -
Terrible, if Waggot is pleased with that his delusion knows no bounds we are in for some rotten gates next season. Bravo

New Head Of Player Recruitment - Gus Williams
tomphil replied to slowmo's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Main thing is imo somebody at the top pulling it all together, directing it in the right direction for the good of the club and fans before all else. That's what we've had in the past when we've been punching our weight or above it so do we have that now ? Not so sure myself but we are about to find out. -

Nice to see the move away from an old boys club though to a set of people hopefully with something to prove. -
No increases on top of the recent increase ! Wow we are so grateful.

And if you want fans onside and re-engage then you keep open, clear honest regular lines of communication to them. Just remember for a min that's HIS job and there are literally multiple ways to do yet he turns down the local paper requests. We can't have ten thousand people in a queue at his door every few months to look him in the eye. Not using the outlets available is plain daft.

I think he came in with a remit to jack prices up to a more comparable level with others in the division. He talked at the time about devaluing the product and i'm sure it was mentioned on here that in private he was of the opinion Rovers prices were too cheap. Plus it fits into his well documented and publically stated business mantra that he's a squeeze what you have as much as you can guy. As opposed to a speculate to accumulate guy, everything that's happened since hes been here points to that. Some of it probably needed doing but he went too far and has missed several opportunities to re-engage a few more thousand. He seems to have totally missed the point there was reason why prices here were cheaper. It wasn't just out of some daft random act of generosity by this ownership or the previous one. You have to price to your market and area not your brand name around here.

Got to remember that Rovers are looking at these players qualities AND their flaws on the assumption they can polish them up. No such thing as a good all rounder or perfect package is coming to Ewood we'll have to take the rough with the smooth i'm afraid. -
Yep, the issue isn't and never was if he was nice bloke although some of the personal stuff goes over the top but emotions run high. He could be a right arsehole tell everyone to F Off and refuse to meet but if he had got a fee for one of the departees, was in the process of securing BBD, had the stadium washed once in a while and didn't try and sell the training ground on hush then people wouldn't be after his scalp as much. It's all about actions not words and he even ignores Sharpes requests to speak for long periods so he's bringing it on himself. He knows what he's doing with the meet and greets it's his charm offensive. He knows most of it will be on social media being discussed, well by those who don't get a kick out of being ITK but not saying anything at least. Only time will tell if he's throwing a straight bat or not there is a lot still at his doorstep that hasn't been accounted for.

From the sounds of it they'll pay millions for certain players that fit the bill but they never fit into the wage budget. The conundrum is how do you find your way around that seeing as they can't just stick in and extra couple of mill to cover it. This is where the sale of players comes in because it's income on FFP that could go towards wages. That's why again i'll say they still sound blaze' about it especially with it sounding like BBD will eventually leave for nothing. It'll never move forwards unless fees are gathered and money is re-invested because under the current model it just can't.

Probably because nobody actually asked, we always get told they never turn down a reasonable request for cash after all.

Maybe we over rated him because of what came before under this ownership era as he was a refreshing change compared to the rest. Henley - pants Kane - Ok for a spell but only on loan Baptiste - Pick of the bunch but a center defender playing out of position with no pace Keane - See above although not old very young and raw Then of course Lowe, Marshall, Bennett and probably some others iv'e missed did stints there so a proper RB in Nyambe and a solid quick one he was a breath of fresh air. A strong competent defender who looked like he could really go places when he broke through but could never master the RWB role really. So yes maybe he isn't all that he just looked better because we finally had someone of our own to play there regularly in what was a real problem position for years. Mainly due to incompetent management. -

The Wigan move is odd but i suspect hes been offered good money for compared to here and as i said early i think he'll turn into a bit of a mercenary now. For all we know someone else has said they want him but need to free up room first so he's been happy to take a short term deal elsewhere. These things happen in football the guy we've got now has obviously been on our radar a while but its only happened once Ryan has gone. I think if he was on contract here but the club and himself made it known he wanted to move we could have at least got in enough to cover the Brittain deal. That's how it's supposed to work if you want to go all Brentford.
