  1. I think with the Nyambe thing we can now conclude there wasn't enough desire on either side to get it done. Both sides at fault and letting it get to a that stage to lose him for nothing is criminal. Once it's over though it's over the mutual love was dead and he'd definitely stagnated here over the last couple of seasons Balls to him i hope he enjoys a bog standard Pie Crust season.
  2. Good signing just the type we should be after i hope it works out. Spending money on an actual defender as well, there is a fresh wind blowing away the stagnant old air !
  3. Don't forget the stupid pants down deal they did for Poveda, were Rovers ended up still having to pay his 11 grand a week wage contribution whilst he was injured and back at Leeds. Is there any surprise whatsoever the contract situations often end in farce when you look at that. Just who agreed to that and signed it off ? Did they even know what they'd agreed too ? Shocking but unsurprising so unless Leeds are literally giving him to us for nowt then forget it.
  4. Aye but neither did Kevin Davies but he had a pile of other attributes. Markus Bent was another one, limited player but got goals wherever he went often just through sheer graft.
  5. That's why it's pointless putting him at lb/lwb when he is in fact a midfielder.
  6. I guess it depends on what he was on in the first place most of these guys have different agents and had signed previous terms at different points. If you were lucky enough to sign your first terms when there was a few more quid knocking about, have the right agent, are liked and highly rated by the club. Then chances are you'll be starting off on more plus further up the park tends to carry a bigger pay packet.
  7. Yes as assumed for a long time they low balled him as it seems they do with lads who've come throught the ranks and have a low stating point. Sounds typical of that penny pinching clown in charge who after pricing fans away is now it seems intent on driving assets away. Whilst you wouldn't pay Nyambe 10k plus a week he's perfectly entitled to ask for it being a young established championship RB/RWB/Right sided center back. How can you ask a player to pull his tripe out every week for a fraction of what others are on some who aren't as good as him. Simply because he has come through the ranks, didn't cost a fee and therefore has a lower starting point than those types. This clown Waggot - IF it's down to him - needs removing from this club as soon as possible the twat might already have had a hand in us missing the play offs.
  8. Edun is another Bell at left back i'd never pick him over Pickering there's too many short memories knocking around. It would be nice if we could find a proper lwb from somewhere, they are out there, Giles was a good one he just wasn't used there. If we truly want to improve we don't go back to playing midfielders as full backs.
  9. Which on the face of it is a shite offer for an established championship right back with sell on potential.
  10. It's just basic stuff though easy to coach into the team i believe they set out to win and thought that was the best way to go about it. I certainly think though it was more about developing certain players than aiming for promotion just as i believe the plan was sell Dack. Then get the best out of Armstrong then sell him, the BB and maybe even Gally they were after setting up a conveyor belt. I think Mowbray talked about that at one point that's why big money was invested in those positions whilst others were neglected. Nothing wrong with that approach for a club like us but you can't be telling fans you want top six and the owners want the club back in the Prem when that isn't really the priority. Two factors went against it though, Dacks injury and the fact or realization that it was about recouping running costs. Never about reinvesting across the team to go for the top 6. That wasn't the managements fault but imo they were more than happy to go along with it as long as they could.
  11. An actual striker playing in strikers positions and getting goals and assists. Hopefully it'll catch on.
  12. Yes when Dack was in his pomp play ended up being tailored almost exclusively for him, same when Armstrong came to the fore in Dacks absence. It's getting the best out of your best player of course and it's putting value in them. It's often detrimental to other good players who just get shoehorned in and can hold the team back as a whole. I often felt the idea was all about growing a valuable striker to sell taking priority over trying to make a team for promotion.
  13. I don't have an issue with how JDT is managing the workload pre season it's a new approach so lets go with it. I just hope he knows what he's in for with the Championship.
  14. They know who they are and they take it on the chin in the manner it's meant to be. Opinions on things tend to differ you see, besides how do you know they don't dig me out ? As for creating division i think i rank mid table at best on that score on here, you on the other hand in the Mowbray years (hes gone have you got over it yet ?) were thoroughly Premier league in that dept.
  15. I suspect the one year deal is down to him rather than Wigan or maybe it is them paying him a proper wage but not wanting to commit any longer in case they go down again. Agree on the ambition as surely for them it's just to stay up that's why they've pushed the boat out to get him. I don't buy into this idea hes signed there for shirt buttons either. Probably his lunatic agents thinking we'll milk these for a year then move somewhere else and do it again. He'll end up in the French 2nd tier if he's not careful.
  16. Blackburn Rovers don't come out of the Nyambe situation well at all despite Waggots minions on here blaming it all on the player. Nyambe doesn't come up smelling of roses either he's obviously a mercenary now controlled by others, he doesn't come across as the sharpest knife in the drawer.
  17. A player like Gallagher in today's market and sat on a nice contract won't be going anywhere for 5 mill. I'd say we are well within range to ask the smog for double that.
  18. Whilst there is some truth in that lets also not rewrite history to suit defense of the former manager. He spent 15 million on forwards in a relatively short space of time and not a bean on defenders as i recall. I'm not having a long drawn out debate going over old ground but his lack of defensive buys led to hiw own famous quote 'defenders are coming'. He'd been here several years at that point and signed a raft of the players. The biggest problem was he'd hampered himself and the team by extending contracts of his league one side. These are just plain facts.
  19. Building a back line with permanent players is where every competent manager/head coach lays his foundations. Mowbray did everything arse about face. Next season could see an entire back line of our own players which gives us something to build on for the future.
  20. Imagine getting in more for Gallagher than BBD 🤣
  21. Where does it suggest it's a forced 'restriction' ? Forced as in the new guys haven't come up with anything so they have to go back to the previous guys targets. As for your other point managers, head coaches go into clubs all the time closely followed by a few of their own signings. It's a norm, it's a given the only reason it's likely not happening here is down to this club not the new gaffer.
  22. Lambert was a rarity under the Rao ownership model as he actually replaced our best sold striker with a better one, with NO transfer fee. Now we have a new regime in forced to look at players drawn up by the EX manager. That's progress for you Venky style.
  23. Many people have met Alan Nixon and said he's a nice guy happy to chat off record etc. Nobody knows what's true and what isn't but we do know that on the record 75% of his stuff never comes true and a lot of it is made up. That's his job he's a spin doctor so just apply the same principles to Waggot as at the end of the day his job is to spin and shield the club and others in it from further probing. No need to look any further than the bumbling interview after the training ground stuff had been rumbled. It was Boris Johnsonesqe.
