What would give him that impression?

He is the journalistic equivalent of a virtue signaler when it comes to this regime.

Trouble is they get to know some of these guys at the club on a personal level and that shines through.  It shouldn't the club, fans and results should always be the priority.

  2. I couldn't see Lambert doing much different to TM but it would have been interesting to see how he invested money.  He was a bit more agricultural and organized than Mowbrays sides. I think he'd have started with defense that's for sure, would he have pished 12 million on BB & SG unless he had to ?

Doubt it but to be fair TM has brought in some good players and loans and blooded some good youth. The fact he clearly hasn't got the first clue how to mould a best starting 11 out of them is the main issue.  So he's hidden behind development, transition, possession, pitch, various other clubs models, injuries, journey, training ground and now back to money again.

He's gone the full circle twice over in every aspect and besides just imagine Mowbray coming in here with no Graham or bennett.....Lamberts signings.

At least Coyle knew he was a bit useless, this twunt thinks he's Bob Paisley.

But worse, much worse, is he thinks he's more important than BRFC.

Some of our deluded do as well and thats what has led to this.

They treated him like some sort of football god and he's been acting like one. So much so that he just can't see what all the fuss is about now.

    ending?

Talking bollocks, pissing off supporters, results and performances going downhill , apparently is a nice man and works long hours  = new contract in Venky world 😉

I certainly wouldn't rule it out, then he's in line for an even better pay off.

That would be these lot to a tee.

  5. They hired Coyle so yeah they'll have no qualms about keeping this one even if we finish 4th bottom.

Always said they'd still fund the club forever with hardly anybody in the ground. They aren't bothered as long as games are beamed into their kitchen. So they can continue playing real life football manager when they feel like it.  Probably betting amongst themselves on team selection and subs.

  6. He's just covering up and spinning the fact he's made another boo boo.

Similar stuff trotted out with the Brereton and Gallagher signings and we are still waiting for those to click.  Midway through next season he'll be suggesting Ayala is struggling due to relocating.

    Full of shit.

  7. We actually lost what could be argued our other main center half in Williams not this sick note.

He's absolutely getting away with spouting crap again why isn't he asked directly why he signed him ?

Given, he hadn't played all year and then he went on record saying he wasn't suited to our style.

No way can i stomach this guy any longer he is literally winging his way to his pension. Proper clown.

Yer I think you're on the right lines with this. Somethings not right here. Pretty sure he was nearing a return towards the end of Feb. Not heard a peep out of anyone since then.

I doubt we will see him again this season and then probably a pay off in the summer with no real explanation.

Would be a total waste of money if that's how it goes.

I'll give him the benefit of doubt on this one and say it was a panic signing. After promising defenders for 2 years then letting Bauer slip i think it's a typical Mowbray signing. Refs from his old club who know him, not fit but another project and the human angle handing out a contract to someone he likes. Then pay the price for being a nice guy again.

Despite that though iv'e grown very uncomfortable with all this ex Boro stuff in recent times. It's never going to sit well after whats happened in the past and it's beginning to look a little suspect now. More in a jobs for the boys familiarity kind of way than a percentage skimming effort though.

It's hard to stomach thinking we are about to get Mulgrews wages off the books but might have to carry this guy now instead. Maybe the can write it off with the insurance if he retires or something.

Like i said though if he left i'd fully expect it to be with some of his terms paid up. Then him to be fit almost straight away for some foreign team.

That would certainly prompt accusations of piss taking....again.

Two things irk me with this.

Firstly all the variables in the world don't mitigate for a 1 win in 15 record or playing your striker at right back.

Secondly this season should have worked in our favour. TM had had three years to assemble a squad and to implement a style of play. Much longer than all other managers. Clubs with better crowds get less of a home field or financial advantage over us too.

All in all the excuses are bull. My hope is his pride won't let him take a relegation so he jumps ship in the summer.

He also got good backing yet again in the summer to bring in the experience he said we needed to make the difference. Nobody really expected much backing in the middle of a pandemic with no income. In fact most expected sales instead.

He got the wages to bring in Ayala, Douglas, Trybull & wonder kid Elliot.  Only ONE of those has been long term absent. He's made a cock and balls of it this however anybody tries to dress up the excuses. And its mainly down to this daft fantasy of dominating the ball with possession football.

Funnily enough i was talking about this with a mate who supports someone else. He couldn't believe the sheer number of players we've used all season between one game and the next. When i described all the Mowbray side of it he just said 'to me it sounds like he's been stealthily trying to get himself sacked. It happens quite often when managers have had enough but won't leave their contract'.

Might not be far off the mark there to be honest given his nonsense and shoulder shrugging attitude. I don't think he's trying to lose games on purpose but he just doesn't give a toss if we don't win. The constant bizarre changing around of the team is the stealth bit. He knows damn well it's counter productive for the situation we've been in but he's stuck his middle finger up and carried on regardless. Even if we'd won a few he'd still jumble it up again.

Very odd behavior from him since January, all season if we are honest. We all need putting out of our misery including him.

  10. Thats confirmed it then he's going nowhere unless he wants to.  The reason ?

Well it doesn't need reviewing does it so basically that's put out just to pacify people. Then they'll spin it to he'll get another season to put it right because of all the variables this season.

Of course the goalposts will move again as it turns into Mowbrays phase 3 rebuilding job.

Rooney’s only been in the management game for 5 minutes and he’ll still have Tony’s number come Friday night.

As an aside, what on earth has happened to Ayala? Unless I’ve missed something he’s dropped of the face of the earth and doesn’t even seem to get a mention in our injury round-ups?! What a horrendous signing.

I smell something not very nice brewing there, probably a parting of the ways on mutual agreement terms. Then he'll suddenly be fit to play for someone else somewhere warm.

A seasons wages for doing sod all and a nice little pay off with a percentage of his contract. That'll be another million or two down the drain on him and Downing this season, by Rovers version of Bill Shankly building football clubs !

Wanna bet? Ryan going, JRC looks like he's going.....the man left in the building is the fist pumper himself.  12 month extension on 5k i reckon...

Whilst he does his coaching badges.

Iv'e heard that's what Downing has been up to, nice work if you can get it. Mind you i wouldn't be averse to him taking over !

However it sounds like another Mowbray favour sponsored by Rovers money.

  13. Separated parts that have helped us win the Prem, get promotion back to the Prem, win a league cup, spend 10 consecutive seasons in the Prem.  Been graced by some of the finest players in England & Europe at one time or another and have helped attract those players.

And turn out some good youth of our own in the process already.

Now we are managed by a set of people who - if they were a supermarket - would be Aldi and it all isn't good enough for their grand plan of midtable championship mediocrity anymore.

If Waggot and co hadn't washed up here from footballs forgotten ocean i doubt anything like this would ever have been mentioned.

The absolute only way any sense could be contrived from it is if they got an astronomical amount of money for the whole Brockhall site. That enabled a fresh cheaper site to be bought and covered the cost of a genuine state of the art modern facility that was big enough and covered all bases.

Even then you'd have to consider a need to attract players so you wouldn't want it in the center of town or the edge of an industrial estate.

It would also have to be under a new manager and coaching staff who were here for the long term and who had us flying and who were of the same mind before it was worth considering.

Anyone know how much 60 acres of land at Whitebirk would cost? I just can't see how a replacement facility in an inferior location makes any sense at all.

Of course, we'll see if alternative plans are pursued at some point or whether the be all and end all was to sell some land for housing and the latest piece in the LT was merely a bit of propaganda designed to make the scheme sound like a good idea all along but one which was unfortunately thwarted by NIMBY local residents.

The solution is simple, if you're worried about the £1.9 m net running costs of the Academy, employ a manager who doesn't pay the likes of Mulgrew and Ayala more NOT to play for us!

7 mill on a whizz kid, who played well in a couple of games for Forest in 1 season, in the hope of doubling the money or more in a few years. Or 3 and a half years funding the cracking academy as it is.  With far more chance of turning out a few to make money on.

No brainer, but they collectively haven't got many if that's what Mowbray and co prefer instead of funding a Cat 1.

    Tony's latest utter bullshit ramblings

“I don’t know how the league is and how the other teams are doing, because I don’t look."

If any evidence was still needed he's lost it this is it.

The man is obsessed with opposition stats and many have always felt that's part of his problem. Too worried about cancelling them out than driving his own team forwards. This is what contributes to see the likes of Gallagher in wide right and left positions.

I'd wager with anyone this man knows every league position and every player in every other club. I don't think anyone would ever doubt his knowledge of the championship.

    Another bizarre comment.

Meanwhile talk to BWDC about a brown field site to bring back the club to the Borough (Blackburn not Teeside!)

If it were 60 acres or more, could accommodate a Cat 1 Academy, Senior Traning Centre and all that was built first, that option may be worth considering.

Thats a ‘slow build, needing several transfer windows’ but I doubt the current incumbents are thinking of waiting that long or in that order either!

I can just see the spin on that one.

What will this revamped recruitment dept be thinking when they are showing prospective signings around Whitebirk instead of the Ribble Valley.

No good is going to come out of this.

  17. 8 hours ago, JHRover said:

I asked him about that and pointed out Waggott's far fetched claim that the new facility would eat up all the funds and probably require Venkys to cough up extra.

So with the above in mind I'm struggling to see how there can any financial benefit to the club. Unless its all bunkum of course.

I think they just wanted the PP granting then they could flog the land, or use it to borrow against after its big uplift in value.

Just after getting a few million quid in asap then bothering about the rest after. When you consider the covid black hole, deferred wages etc, possible emergency external borrowings. Then chuck in that a quick injection of funds would help the FFP balance sheet i think it all adds up to being about the money.

Too many factors point to that, the timing of it being the biggest.

  18. Trouble is they still seem to treat it like their other businesses they just haven't learned it needs the personal touch. So it gets reviewed at some point in summer and nothing can happen before then. In some cases nothing happens even then if they don't all agree on it

Manager is still the line manager and they probably don't take anything on board until he's sat in front of them. The rest might have some title or other but are just box tickers. To be fair in recent years things have speeded up a bit in summer compared to what it was. That seems to be because Mowbray had stimulated their interest again after promotion and Rovers got an earlier slot than usual in their summer schedule.

They probably do this review stuff for most of their large parts of their portfolio. So now the heads have gone back in the sand and interest has probably waned. Along with all the other stuff the past 12 months covid related god knows were Rovers will fit in this summer.

I'm 100% certain it won't be marked as urgent on the discussion list, all this works in Mowbray & Waggots favour.

Stupid set up that has never and will never prosper.

I think he did the same at Cov. Near the top at Christmas, fell away dramatically in the second half of the season. The season after was when he resigned an honourable man after no win in the first ten matches of the season,  or summat like that. That's us next season...

I can see that happening and he was on course for similar at Boro but they pulled the plug at the right time. Even if there was no covid and Ayala had got fit i still don't think we'd be anywhere near it.

Better off than we are yes but still in the middle pack somewhere. He's far from the worst manager but too many things he does seem counter productive and go against any kind of consistency.
