The golden generation so called was very overrated, yes we seriously lacked a Beckham or Gerrard in the last few years mainly because no one was capable of grabbing a game by the neck under nice boy Gareth. The only way i see it is someone like Gallagher leaves and his fee is committed to the wages of someone else over a year or two. But as we know it's likely virtually every penny taken in will go towards running costs for the next 12 months.

If we were replacing Gally with Dykes i'd say that's decent enough but if he's coming in to replace Szmodics and earning big money then it's a concern. Obvlsy got to consider though there might be a change of style and it might suit him well so he'd score goals.
