  1. Venus has several jobs by the sounds of it and what about David Lowe ???
  2. You'd be looking at about 40/50k pwk combined there for those 3 being rotated at left back yet not one of them is an actual LB. A prime example of the unbalanced mess we are heading into never mind 2 of them having a combined age over 70. Shocking really.
  3. We went down this road with Bauer just to use an example. He was out of contract in summer but Charlton wanted 1 million so Rovers offered 500k. Then Rovers dawdled about so he signed an extension at Charlton and they then said give us 2 million ! Mowbray kept up the interest waiting for him to be free but then when it was doable he preferred to chuck his money elsewhere using similar excuses he's doing now regarding wages. Bauer signed for PNE for about 15 grand pwk and a nice signing on fee, 4 yr deal. Now if we'd paid nearer to what Charlton had initially wanted despite his contract running down we might have got ourselves a decent bread and butter defender who might be worth a few million now. Say what you want about the player i'm just holding that up as an example not claiming we've missed a great one. Mowbray is talking through his backside again because apart from Dack and Armstrong he's thrown huge money at expensive gambles via his own agent at the time and another one who has continued form here. Then it's been freebies and oldies and decent contracts there's nothing inbetween. Amazing when you thing his bargain cash buys for modest money turned out to be the best investments a bit like the GB model. Not rocket science to suggest that for a club like us that's the best way to go the proof is there. They don't all work, Samuel and Bell spring to mind but it's no massive loss unless you've given them stupid contracts. Moral is if you want quality then get your hands in your pockets and pay for it otherwise bite the bullet and get some modest buys in with a bit of form about them and pay the asking price.
  4. Too late for all that now that is precisely the kind of approach to spending that should have been going on in the previous few windows. He's blown the money, wasted it, pissed it down the drain, its gone. He now though has a raft of excuses, some legit obviously to add to his increasingly contradictory waffle. Ironically that along with nearing FFP and still willingly clueless owners and agent influence will still see him here this time next year operating the same way. Possibly being hailed a hero for keeping us up after a fire sale whilst all the blame goes India's way again. Ironic.
  5. But if the right agent is doing it we'll wait till the last min then panic and spend 5 or 6 million anyway ! All he's got to be is young and British, pedigree don't matter in these cases.
  6. This one was a triangle peg for a square hole. Mowbray did have brainfarts about 3 at the back . His attempts at trying to build a team for that have been nothing short of a failure so far though.
  7. 1500 ish probably
  8. If he's here and being paid a fortune they'll probably try and get him involved somehow. Acid test for Mowbray is if he starts putting him in every week again when he's fit if his form is like it was last season. I look forward to reading his explanation on that !
  9. Wouldn't surprise me if Mowbray is in the upper pay bracket of Championship managers. I don't think Vs are shy of generosity to people they like.
  10. With Bradley Orr as his agent that really would put the cat amongst the pigeons ?
  11. He's getting his story out there first. Something tells me Mulgrew will be back in when he's fit.
  12. In all the time he's been here iv'e never known Evans go in where it hurts so it's a bad foul or he's had a rush of blood trying to impress Stoke scouts. Just when we might have been near to parting ways finally and maybe getting a fee this happens. Bad do for the lad either way and it sounds like a lengthy spell out. We are now destined to have him forever i think so not to worry, when he comes back he'll be like a new player....... but in the meantime we can gauge whether we'd really miss him or not.
  13. Personally i'd love to Rhodes at a big Scottish Prem club and bang in another 20 in a season. Would be such a shame for his career to fizzle out without being able to show what he's all about again. He just needs the right place.
  14. He wasn't when we were linked before, always a long shot but you don't know until you try. Had Derby not come up he may have been interested. These are the guys you have to keep pitching for and sooner or later you'll get one. However there is no point in anyone doing that at Rovers because the same sources have provided the last 3. In fact they've probably provided most of the managers under Venkys aside from Bowyer. If they dealt with some higher end agents perhaps they'd get presented better clients. You'd think they might have twigged that by now.
  15. Well seeing as he's at Premier League Watford then no obviously.
  16. Mulgrew said he wants to play till 40 and he wants to play for Scotland as long as possible. Something he should have packed in ages, so he'll be seeking first team football anywhere he can get it i reckon. You can't be seizing up on anyone's bench if those are your aims.
  17. I think it was between GB and Lambert yes, it was an ex Rovers player who was saying he was expecting Pearson to come. Somebody who applied for the job himself i believe.
  18. It was either pre TM or Coyle but he was sounded out and allegedly was holding out for something else. Think it might have been before he went to Derby.
  19. You'd have to be an odd kind of manager not to use Mulgrew for most of those.
  20. An Ewood pay off would help that considerably.
  21. I'm not it'll be a fifteen min waffle that'll contradict everything he said previously, also Dacks injury will get ten mentions.
  22. But they'll still have to agree severance terms as it's unlikely someone will buy him.
  23. Think we are on a sticky wicket at the min and we rarely get anything there. Fancy us to take the lead but Wendies 3 Rovers 1
  24. If he walked back in he'd probably have a good game or two like he did at Wigan, maybe even score but soon he'd drop back again. Trouble is with Charlie he isn't a physical defender and his legs are almost gone so you'd get decent games after a rest because he is a quality footballer. However he just can't keep it up, shame but this is a level above him now.
