Groundhog day presenting another similar side 3 points.

Another half time tactical masterstroke pays dividends i see....
-
Dack's missing - ready made excuse, no way would we have conceded those had he been in obviously....... India are you listening !

Steele mk 2 Still convinced this Simon Conning dolloper will end up on our books full time soon....
-
He did it and does it regardless of any of that anyway hence the Tombola Tony comments. It hasn't sprung up over night or over Christmas.

He moaned about lack of consistency early season both results and player wise yet he ran the tombola every week. It obviously seized up from over use so he stuck with a horses for courses side where possible and actual tactics that suited it for a few games. Surprise surprise we went on a winning run. The min the tombola got fixed we are back to being all over the shop again, ridiculous. Lets just hope today is one of those exception to the rule days he's so good a pulling out of the blue.

January transfer window 2020

I can see how it'll pan out as the season goes on and we end up safely in the middle third he'll start using them bit by bit. To justify them staying in the squad and get some games in them. Perish the thought but a few good games will see contract extensions rather than running them down and letting them go. -
I'm similar and I actually don't mind Gallagher. Brereton I try to stay away from having a pop at him as a player, just think he's out his depth at the min. I'll question both signings though based on the amount of money and where it should have been spent. I think though imo they've looked at the academy and seen plenty midfielders and a couple of defenders who should come through but no strikers. That's led to the big money panicky maybe, young striker signings. Someone has done a good 'advising' job again upstairs.

I did say 'masterstroke' ! Putting like that the only other option would be install Johnson or someone else similar and have TM as mentor for a season. Carry on the chain and see out his contract. Doubt he'd be happy with that though unless it was his call although i do think there are plenty options to replace him for little money. We shop on the scrapheap remember and there's no compen. Some of these guys just want a wage like Coyle and will work cheap, sadly we have the wrong people picking them. We aren't at that point though i think we'll end up a bit like dingles under Ternant for another year or two. Gates will end up similar as well.

Best Rovers Festive Memory?
tomphil replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Look forward to reading that darrenrover but please, wtf are half mast parallels ? ? -
Which is why i'd look to change at the end of the season regardless of where we finish. To just keep him because we've no money yet he's the one who's wasted it doesn't sit well with me at all. Only in football do you get away with that but yes i'd still expect him to steer us to midtable, i'd expect that whether we have massive funds or non though ! The other option though is if he pulled a masterstroke and flogged Armstrong for say 6 million thus giving a contribution to the FFP income. That would be the way to go in my book otherwise his method of being happy with just doing enough is enough will go on and on. Until the whole squad is flogged off again of course.

That's true but it's also completely leaving out the wasted money that should have been put to better use under this manager. There are no lengths you won't go to to twist it in his favour by the looks of it. He's done some good stuff but on this one he/they have stuffed up badly - fact The way it's now being used by some to justify keeping him IN the job is almost political in its spin. Alistar Campbell would be proud.

It says a lot when we are 1 defeat out of a decent unbeaten run and still handily placed how much indifference their is amongst the fans. That's because of the manner of the disjointed performances when there really is no need for it. No guarantees you'll win of course but setting out square pegs in round holes and zero balance in the side tends to make it easier for the opposition to cancel us out. Lets hope today is another away day where it just clicks and the swift counter attacking is deployed. When that happens we look good in patches and often win.

January transfer window 2020
tomphil replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The books dictate we do if we are to bring in more. Don't see the point of these wage drains using up remaining FFP space on the accounts when that could be put to some use. -
That's exactly what happened the good run before hand earned him a pass for that. Once it hard worked though there wasn't a cat in hells chance of him going back to the balanced settled side, or as near to it as possible.

What did we learn from Danny Murphy, Peter Whittingham etc and now Johnson? For every Downing there are 5 of the other types who really are not worth the extra wages you have to pay. It's leaders we lack and defenders who can man mark not old heads. -

Samuel and Brereton combined fees about 7/8 million. Thousands per week wages...? And we wonder why we might be hamstrung. -

You really have to question the hair brained logic of shelling out 5 and 7 million fees on players you hope to profit on. Then in the next breath saying we have to rely on producing our own youngsters to sell. Gullible idiots still lining others pockets. -
Can't managers be recruited and paid for directly by owners therefore being exempt from FFP ?

Yep almost forgot about him and it'll most likely be another academy graduate who goes next not a Mowbray man. -

TM has done a lot of pushing Armstrong this season so there might be a few quid recoupable there by summer to ease the FFP. Otherwise possibly Nyambe and of course Lenihen are the only other saleable assets for around 3 million plus. -
Slow build is just a time buying exercise for the manager and his staff. Gives license to expand behind the scenes and create more jobs for people and spend transfer monies in the way you want via who you want. I think we've a few examples of that now. Everything in football for your average clubs and managers tends to run in two or three year cycles without big changes or investment. We are near the end of that with TM and his gang now so to shake things up will need big money. That now obviously cannot happen so is there a plan B ?
