January transfer window 2020

An absolute feeding frenzy all started by Anderson and Kean whether they were connected or not. If i was Venkys head woman i'd go after every single stinking one of them. May they all rot ! -
January transfer window 2020

If they can fix up some loans out or better still sales or loan with a view to buy then Smallwood, Gladwin, Samuel out. That's saved a good few grand to start with not much need for anymore pruning. Brereton i'd loan out it'll do him good to start a bit more further down the leagues. Whilst i don't want to pan him iv'e also heard enough of this boo hoo he's no confidence it's a shame, wrong position etc etc. Sheer fact is at this juncture in his career the lad is out of his depth it was a shocking gamble of millions so lets try and salvage something. Give him the rest of the season to cut his teeth somewhere then get him back in summer hopefully confident and refreshed to try again. I hope there is a bit of ruthlessness in all this now to free up a few quid and get at least one quality player who'll contribute more than that lot put together. -
Promotion was the aim and it was a massive massive relief given the huge concerns of what might happen if it wasn't achieved. However if you are close to winning something and have a 50% chance you should damn well go for it. Some of those players won't get close to any league winners medal in their careers. Doesn't do a managers CV any harm either. You shouldn't go shit or bust for it and risk blowing 2nd place but if that isn't the issue then go for it !

I hope you're not downplaying the Full Members Cup victory it was massive at the time. The shot in the arm it gave the club was immense. Winning the title in league 1 might just have had a bigger longer lasting positive bounce than just promotion, we'll never know though. That FMC win doesn't get mentioned enough imo, it was a cup knock out competition and we won it !

I've seen a few mentioning it on social media, Wigan instead of Brum because of the ticket prices. They should stop fooking about with it all Brum at home on Boxing day should be 20 quid in all areas except JW upper central. Just keep it simple not too dear and not give away either.
-
A lot might chose the Wigan match pver the Brum game as their xmas Rovers fix even though it's on tv. A tenner as opposed to cat A especially if you're bringing the family is a no brainer. Boxing day won't be a big home turnout at all just maybe a thousand or so more than the usual 11.5, all depends what they bring. 16k tops i reckon.

Wigan Athletic (H) - Monday Night Football (urgh..)
tomphil replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Exactly and on this run for the first time under Mowbray apart from maybe the start of last season we've been going out taking it to the opposition. Stamping ourselves on games early and seemingly not the usual more terrified of their strengths than imposing ours. That's the only way to go if you want to move forwards, we can genuinely beat anybody in this league. We won't always and there are others who are the same but we should always be going toe to toe looking to mix it up in football terms. How many can make 6 changes, away from possibly the best 11 who've not lost in 4 or 5 and come away in the end with a comfortable 2-0 victory from another tough side ? That belief was missing but it's back now so carry it on. -

Bell had an ok game and that's good but all it really means is he might be shaping up into reliable back up at last. Left back needed for me it'll become a problem again as the season goes on. Wigan usually a stiff test whatever the overal form Rovers 2 Wigan 2 14,385 -
Yes you can't just switch it on and off, it doesn't just go away when you get offered 50 million for 5 fights.... ? Probably part of the reason, besides the money, why he's gone wrestling is to keep himself occupied. He said he wanted to have fun when he came back hence this and a string of underwhelming opponents allowing him to play act a bit. The next Wilder fight could well define him or end him it depends how he handles it. Ironic really seeing it's been him howling for 6 months that Joshua was finished. But he's nothing if he isn't ironic !

There's nobody to blame but the man himself and the only person who's turned it round is himself. I don't believe very much that comes out of Fury he's a very slick operator how he plays things but i'll give him credit for getting fit again. If he wants to feck about wrestling or whatever he'll do it regardless, i also believe he'll have ditched Davison with good reason, btw when he went off the rails his Uncle had died, he'd beaten Klitschko, his dad was in the clink, he'd been done for PEDS, stripped, relinquished and suspended. Not the case now, he'll be up to something to try and make a statement and get in Wilders head, which won't work at all by the way he's too strong a character himself.

Rovers Player of the Decade?
tomphil replied to frosty's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Jordan back from the dead yesterday, form is temporary Championship level class is permanent. -
Freddie Roach maybe but that'll get Fury ko'd inside 10 Back with Uncle Peter and he'll win this time in a stinkfest. His father has been urging him to ditch Davison for ages the lads just a cheerleader.

Bristol City (A) - Bradley Dack's Christmas Break

A bit of the old Allardyce carrot and stick maybe. Get us 4 points in the next 2 and you can have an extra day, get us 6 and you can have till Friday. Nowt wrong with that as long as they are sensible, lets see how they turn up v Wigan and Brum, shockers won't be tolerated they've shown recently what we should be all about. -

He's not totally ditched the new style they are just applying it a bit more forcefully as far as i can see. They've upped the pace a bit and the ante and press a bit more. Maybe it's down to the squad finally getting to grips with it but there's certainly been a marked change sine he went back to basics formation wise before yesterday. That is the way it has to be week in week out in this league if you want to get anywhere, not many sides football their way to the top you have to mix it up and get stuck in. Although it's demanding and hard to play that way back to back you can't keep switching off either and just showing up every 4 or 5 games. There's a decent sized squad there now and a couple of sensible additions would do no harm in Jan to keep it up. -
Always looks better as an impact sub to me especially when we are on the counter, really suits that style of play you have to give him things to run onto. Should be used a bit like Matty Derbyshire was by Hughes to come on and kill games off, often frustrating when he starts but he keeps notching and getting a few assists. A genuine good left sided player would do wonders for this team as would a flying right winger.

Totally agree i think at times him and the dressing room are probably too loyal if there is such a thing. He's sticks by some of them too much in the first team at times and they follow his tactics to the letter on the pitch. It was the wrong selections and tactics then confidence takes a hit, i think all that has been proven now. He's been rewarded with their loyalty recently and he put his neck on the block yesterday giving others who've been left out a game and resting some. We'd have lost that a month or two ago for sure but he's manged to get a spring back in the step of the whole squad again for now so that has to go down as good management. Would he have been so bold at home yesterday or a closer away game with a bigger following in attendance ? Highly unlikely but he got away with it so kudos to him. As always in football it's what happens over the next month that will define the season, as we know now with him and this team.....you never know !
-
I don't see why not.
-
Something happened somewhere for sure. For him to go right back to basics and stick at it with the same ream and tactics constantly for the first time in his entire time here win, draw or lose.
-
Amazing turn around although no doubt the back to basics square pegs in square holes approach laid the foundations. You can manage change when everyone is fit and playing well it's amazing what confidence can do. Seems it's running through the club again now and we are a handful for anyone when that's the case. Credit to Mowbray today it could have backfired spectacularly and i think we all know he'll have been itching to change it around big style for ages now. Its worked though not long ago we'd have been 3-1 down in that type of game by midway in the second half. He's got a grip of it again and long may it continue.

That's why Armstrong is always involved ! Johnson has obviously been working on his fitness since he's been left out. Fair play to him -

If he's grafting all game that's all we can ask but this no confidence thing has been banded about since he first appeared in blue and white. I'm one of the few who#s stayed off his case despite panning the actual signing, He's out of his depth by some way that's his problem ability wise. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong today it's a big chance for him. -
