The increased tickets for the Sheff Weds game allow the discounts for the Wigan game whilst keeping their targets on course. The Brum match with them always likely to bring over a thousand on a Saturday would always have been cat A i'd wager. Fact it's on a bank holiday and they'll bring more than double that means it's an earner at one end of the ground. Depending on form between now and then there'll probably only be about 13.5k home fans in going off this seasons turn outs. Another opportunity missed to get more in and reignite a bit of interest.

Brentford (h) - the Mowbray love in!

Without wanting to bash him after he got it right last night this is what we are up against with TM and it's terminal. He will forever try and justify his rotation policy with some kind of fear factor of the opposition. -
Rovers v Burnley Under 23's
tomphil replied to arbitro's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They may as well just order ALL future home fixtures with Burnley as behind closed doors and just forget about it. -
A touch of cramp allegedly but i'd be in no way surprised to see him start Bennett again on Sat with some sort of tactical justification regarding a Stoke player. For me the back line and centre mid pairing needs leaving alone for a while more than anything else.

He should be saying to Evans play like that every week and you'll start that's why you are in the side now. These hiding as a passenger days should be over or his career here is. Saying he feels he has to leave him out to get him angry so he'll put a shift in shows the mentality of that lad i'm afraid. He's had it far too easy a ride here in the past. -
Therein lies the problem he'll keep changing it again to try and justify their signings or find a place for them if someone else is insisting. Terrible judgement calls really, i'm not too fussed about Gallagher but whoever thought they'd invested in a sure thing in Brereton can wave bye bye to most of their money.

There is justification for slight changes now and again as Mowbray says that's why you have a squad and why you want some versatility. Here though it's been clear to a blind chap on a galloping horse the amount of swapping and changing game to game and even in game has been detrimental. Yes occasionally it works but not enough to justify it every game. You need a good regular spine to the team to carry that off anyway and he's never created that again at this level yet. You get no balance and no rhythm unless you set up like last night with players in their familiar roles. The big striker wide/wing idea whoever is deployed there needs putting away for good its never really worked and never will unless your going 3 up top. We looked so much better without it and all a lot of disgruntled fans will ask is pick the best Rovers team suited to Rovers and drill it into them. Stop using the opposition as an excuse to keep rotating the squad to keep everyone happy and justify the size of it. Prune it if need be and put the money into quality and youth starting at the back and not a load of indentikit mids and wide strikers. -
I'll stand firm on my wishes and expectations, a stodgy up and down winter then the usual decent last third to the season. Hopefully a few local scalps and a good cup run. Safe midtable finish then a revamp in summer and a thanks very much Tony, have a rest then we wish you well in your next job.

January transfer window 2020
tomphil replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I know loans aren't the way forwards but i genuinely wouldn't let him loose with a big wad of money ever again. He's obsessed with back up players so let them be loans. I like Gallagher but wouldn't have signed him now but him and Brereton along with possibly Johnson are major bollocks dropped. Disgraceful business really so unless someone unearths a good experienced keeper i'd loan in some proper defenders and a good striker if possible. I'd loan out Brereton and Samuel tomorrow. -

There should be proper back up for him on the bench but aside from that this is what Bennett should be doing. Utility bench man able to come on and do a job in a number of positions but back on there next match injuries permitting. -

Good win and performance the kind that should be standard at home with this squad. Had an inkling a side like Brentford as dangerous as they are might just suit us IF the right team was selected, it was. So much better without a lumbering wide/wing striker we actually had balance and that should be the norm not the one off every 5 or 6 games. Stop accommodating players and pick a balanced settled side and pissing stick with it even if it turns in the odd bad show. Balance to the side is everything to this team it allows it to play a bit and let the good players do their thing. Bennett must stay OUT of the starting 11. -
Got it correct tonight so he deserves credit and we can still salvage something from this season if he learns from it. Will he ? Unlikely but there is at least a chance to kick on a bit now.

A win tonight and moving in the top half might just release a bit of pressure that's now starting to build. Brought on by themselves it needs to be said but a little winning run now could alter the season. It's no great shakes being in midtable but it would be a sign of progress that they are all finally getting their acts together. It's going to be one of those seasons, i fear a long hard winter so they need to nip that in the bud starting tonight. -
I was going to mention that before it takes that long to load and all the shite cluttering it up i just don't bother with it anymore. Maybe a ploy to sell more actual papers ?
-
Whichever way you look at it or what they come out with it just doesn't resemble an attempt to build a side capable of bothering the top 6 it just doesn't. Because wherever it can be it's just patched up with loans and now a few older freebies on big wages yet the core and the spine of the team just isn't near good enough, never gets the investment it should and is not likely to grow better. It's just a squad carrying some big investments designed you'd presume to be worth more and a few youngsters playing mostly bit parts. It isn't a jigsaw being put together it's just a water treading effort. Why ? Probably because when all is said and done nobody has any real urgency or desire for it they're all happy to bumble along. A lot of fans are as well but when they see it getting worse they are the ones who'll be the first to get anxious....then get criticised for having the nerve to grumble. At a guy who put his name to the Brereton signing and is now saying the exact same stuff about the Gallagher signing. A guy who promised he was going to rebuild a defence he's acknowledged wasn't good enough then didn't. A he himself he said he'd be signing better players to come in and play and who pulled top 6 talk out of the thin air when most fans were just aiming for top ten. Then he wonders why ! It's going to be interesting to hear him talk his way around the next window. No doubt there'll suddenly be a load of players to be linked away then all the talk will be about concentrating on keeping what we have. Then he'll be credited with that, you can predict things around here with alarming accuracy these days.
-
Then you wonder why certain managers wherever they go continually seem to go backwards after a decent season or so. That is a good description of it, of course there are no guarantees but to improve you have to upgrade bit by bit. That really isn't happening but it's made all the more annoying when one or two better than we had have been signed as well but don't get used to their proper strengths. Holtby, Johnson and even Gallagher and Chapman as to my mind both are an upgrade the likes of Samuel and Gladwin. Yet you can guarantee once they are fit they'll be taking up bench space again and in some cases replacing those that have been signed. Said it a dozen times but this manager seems to put players happiness before points he's obsessed with rotation and perceived versatility.
-
I bet they weren't laughing in front of Allardyce !
-
Daniel Williams the hedge fund man..? ?
-
Not enough of him yet no, even Steele improved after he signed before he regressed again but he was being coached by a real experienced coach and had Raya snapping at his heels. Fell backwards quickly when that coach was shoved out in favour of Lamberts rotund keeper coach. Not likely to happen with this lad sadly he doesn't look like the guy who was at Wigan yet.
-
Steele takes the prize for that with me the weakest first choice keeper ever at BRFC. Raya certainly not far behind but a work in progress who suffered for not being loaned out learning his trade when he should have been. Also being coached by novices and working with poor keepers won't have helped day to day either.

Ah, well even so still a gamble but if the idea was get him fit well he is so the next step is give him a go surely. Nothing to lose it might sort his attitude a bit and if not well the window is approaching. Seeing him fit might tempt some club to throw their hat in the ring for his services. TM would rather have Samuel etc on the bench though, senior favs. -

If we park the bus we'll still give you a goal or two we are very generous like that. Play football and i wouldn't be so confident, it's our managers lack of faith in his players to actually let them do that that is part of the problem. We'll still concede but we might get 3 !!!! -
Raya didn't really have stinkers though the games he dropped big clangers in he tended to be great before and after. A strange cookie but some of the best reflexes iv'e seen.
-
Did he really though ? It's not what i heard but you never know. I think his sole purpose was just deflection he was hired a bit like Singh to get rid of Coyle and maybe absorb the blame for not spending in that window. Just another Venky window dressing exercise, he got a few quid out of it and got his man Jao a gig for a bit. Then his head rolled when the drop was confirmed. More smoke and mirrors i'd be surprised if he had anything to do with appointing Mowbray imo he arrived via the usual avenues well away from Ewood. They'd have kept Senior around if TM had been his man, for a while at least.

The question needs asking why is this the case all of a sudden ? Why chuck a 4 year contract at him when he was already injured and had hamstring issues before any attitude ? Is the little git well advised like some others and fancies a nice payoff before signing somewhere else now he's fit ? Or is it just the managers bad call ? Do Connings players have these problems at Rovers ?
