  1. The PNE home fixture, the one last night and the Burnley game are yet again glaring examples of how some of those people down there just want as easy a life as possible. They get paid the same regardless, football is supposed to be about the fans and the team but some at Rovers seem to think it's all about them and their colleagues. I'd suggest that attitude runs from top to bottom in many cases including the management. But when you've absent owners and nobody with any affinity running the place this is what you'll get time and again. Any Rovers v Burnley fixture is a marketing opportunity, it should be on Ewood or at the very least a more sensible kick off time wherever.
  2. Howard Gayle, proper cult Rovers hero ! As for the strategy he is right but it has to be based on making the right decisions on and off the pitch and kicking on a bit every season. Not constant mix and match in a vain attempt to find the right formula. There should be one in place and players recruited for that and other youngsters fitted into it if they are the right style. Otherwise it's pointless floundering that gets you nowhere except further down the league every season and losing fans faith and attendance. 'Build' is the right word but it has to be on the park as well as off it ! You sometimes get the impressions under this ownership and this current management that the 9-5 Mon - Fri behind the scenes workplace is more important than getting what is available in the 95+ mins once or twice per week !
  3. It's all being built around a poor defence though and behind the mask i'm sure he knows this. I think a lot of his reticence is because of this but he'll never admit it it. He wants it robotic with only one forward running flair player at a time it seems. Hence the horrendous lack of chances created. We'll go nowhere with that attitude.
  4. That bit's no surprise. No doubt the club will be landed with a nice bill for calling out the fuzz. The most inept docile set of stadium officials in the country !
  5. Defenders are coming, they're tracking Bauer for 12 months. Downing becomes available, Tony likes him so attention and budget goes that way instead. Back to looking around, friendly agent says Gallagher is finally available at a price Rovers might afford. Tony oh i like him he's been here before, Raya money goes that way. Meanwhile they've forgotten about Bauer and Tony decides he'll stick with what he has after Del tells him i'm your man. Right thinks Tony that's saved a few quid in wages so i'll get a couple more mids you can't have too many of them. I can pick 2 out of 6 or 7 every match, lovely jubbly. On it goes, scattergun.
  6. Hertha are a massive club over there so no surprise a few bus fulls turned up.
  7. Brereton involved in a behind closed doors game this aft according to Sharpe
  8. And that makes no difference whatsoever to the first team but gives the tombola a few more numbers. I often think Mowbray is just managing his squad not the best first 11. With his main aim to keep everyone happy and the team just ticking over rather than a bull headed relentless pursuit for points. He's either lost track of his priorities or is in such a comfort zone he's more happy plodding along that way keeping day to day hassle to a minimum.
  9. Nowt but i think the best thing anyway would just be enough for a couple of good loans given how he's been spending it recently. A couple of good loans with stipulations attached mind. Experienced in one position, fit, match ready and with the intention of being played, preferably a centre half and target man. Depending on how things are shaping up. Never happen though it would be squaddies at best and at least one multi positional and the other a midfielder, one way over 30 and the other a kid. Most likely verdict = 'I'll keep faith in what i have iv'e been doing this a long time and won't spend the owners money for the sake of it' Make of that what you will there's many permutations.....
  10. If Mowbray had managed Matthaus or Zidane he'd have moved them about week in week out to accommodate others he liked. It's getting beyond ridiculous now. Pray to heaven we get through this season reasonably unscathed then wave bye bye in the summer. Before he spews the next budget and we kick off in front of 7k ST holders and whatever walk ons Waggot & co haven't priced out. 12k averages next season including aways, it's coming i tell you.
  11. Stage 4: Blame the 300k shortfall in ST budget due to silly over projection by clueless suits on the fans not the manager, team or clueless suits.
  12. And so he should be at this juncture but the team needs something a bit different. It's crying out for an out and out winger and we've absolutely nothing to lose by giving him a go. If it doesn't work out then it's back to the drawing board again and they have to decide what to do with Chapman then, loan or whatever. For a manager who's so quick to swap players and systems it's odd he won't give this kid a shot again, he signed him. Is he so terrified of having to remove another old fav off the bench to do so ?
  13. It's how he operates though and he won't change ( unlike his teams and tactics ) the one constant is change with him. Yet it nearly always ends up in poor frustrating performances, the odd half every now and then and the good 1 in 5 win aside. A read through any of his former clubs fans opinions when he was there will all tell exactly the same. The most frustrating gaffer iv'e seen at Rovers in football terms.
  14. Signed a new deal not long ago, ironically whilst he was banished from the side.
  15. But we spend 7 million on a teenage sub of no real pedigree then we pay a large loan fee for a kid defender to play in the centre filling in for / replacing internationals. Oh and we sign an injury prone young winger, get him fit then ignore him when he's just what the team is crying out for. What a plan !
  16. It only makes sense in the great tombola aka accommodating players from his bloated unbalanced squad so they don't sulk.
  17. When Souness was starting young lads with flair like Dunn, Duff etc and blooding Taylor in defence, as well as players he signed he spent his time on the touchline bawling at them to 'do your stuff' and 'track effing back' . He liked to harness their talent first and foremost then work on the other stuff second surely that's how you get the best out of players like that. Yes they've got to learn but they will probably more so if they are being encouraged to do what they are good at first and enjoying it. When you have some talent there good at doing certain things for god sakes use it whilst you can on a matchday. Mowbray first and foremost seems terrified of a player streaking fwds losing the ball and being hit on the counter rather than encouraging it to be done so we can create and score. Such a lack of faith he seems to have in some of them and the team as a whole. It's no wonder they go into their shells then he's always just relying on the this 'team spirit' from the older favs to see us through.
  18. I'll say it again Samuel was straight back in the squad the min he was fit and he got some mins and probably will again soon. Yet Chapman who Mowbray made such a fuss of getting here and who's been playing U23s regularly and getting a few goals and assists doesn't get a snifter. Yet again something not right about this and is it any surprise if he's having an attitude issue ? Give him a go, lets have a bit of carrot and stick and if he doesn't take his chance or is still playing up then off to lge 1 or 2 he goes for a bit. I presume he didn't cost much and isn't on big wages although you never know with this lot but if so he should be quite easy to shift. Stop carrying dead wood because we are too nice or too soft to make these type of decisions.
  19. The Leicester type thing sounds good but they are a Prem team in a large city who can count on large gates whatever at the moment. Not as an attractive proposition to Rovers who want every penny then can from a small hardcore. They'll not entertain anything that might put people off full STs or half STs in favour of a picking and choosing ticket.
  20. There's nothing wrong with having a manager who you suspect might grab you by the throat or offer you out onto the car park if you're acting up. What guys like Kean need are a really good coach and backroom staff around them to provide that buffer zone between manager and players. To reel them in a bit when needed and cover any weak points coaching wise they might have, the jobs for the boys mentality has cost a few managers their jobs imo. Along with this snowflake culture which is ruining everything not just football.
  21. Totally agree but giving the benefit of the doubt to the facebookers this seasons budget and squad is surely a comfortable tenth in this league at worst. They've been rebuilding for 3 seasons now so at very least it should be stable but this year its gone backwards mostly save for the last few months of last season.
  22. It's good for the counter attack and has worked a time of two but trouble is the sit back and slowly pass around style just invites pressure. Then it ends up often the only option is launch it. As for years like a good commanding centre half needed so is a proper target man.
  23. Every Rovers player on twitter probably has that tweet pinned ready to use again. Standard club issue tweet i think. I think you're absolutely right about that type of thing rubbing off on players though. They aren't stupid they pick up on things that's a large part of a reason why managers run out of steam after a few years and basically a new voice is needed with a different attitude. I don't think it's delusion with our lot more the shoulder shrugging excuse making nature of the main man.
  24. Who brainwashes a lot on there ? I'm sure half of them are bots or something. Punching above our weight we certainly are not that kind of talk would suit Mowbray and co down to the ground. What rot ! We've heard plenty about natural levels etc and that might be about 10th place in the championship so come on i wish they'd make their minds up. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but some of them make my piss boil they need some things pointing out to them.
  25. Massive boots to fill in the form of Friedel though so anything was a step down. Robinson was a competent Prem keeper a good one if not a great one. Went on the slide badly once Allardyce left but replacing him with Boro's 3rd choice Steel was ridiculous but par for the course. Raya offered some respite with his potential but we were at lhe 1 level by then. Really though they've shopped in poundland for keepers and defenders just like managers all along.
